It's wonderful when somebody makes a real effort and sacrifice to meet you.......... my girlfriend/fiancee/whatever has booked ahead FOUR flights to visit me, and to me that proves some kind of commitment - especially as she gets no paid vacation!
Ok, so I booked ahead three flights (easier for me in many ways as I just have to find somebody to look after my paralysed mother when I am away) but knowing the other person is prepared to make a real effort around their work and commitments with family and friends is a good feeling, and a sense of stability and security in a relationship rather than worrying about what the future may or may not bring and if you'll ever meet again!
Totally unbiased reporting can be a little 'dry' - that's why it's fun to watch some station like Fox News that is almost proud of its bias and also see a totally different point of view.
I'm not saying that any reputable tv station deliberately goes out to lie, but if they can be a little economical with the truth or put more emphasis on what THEY (i.e. the boss) finds interesting then that's their prerogative.
The BBC often gets slagged off in the UK for being too pro Labour, but compared to Radio Moscow and the Voice of America which I both heard (in Enlish ) in the Congo as a kid it was the voice of reason compared to the two super powers of the cold war fighting their ideological war by whatever means they could!
So there!
'We' don't know the half of it or hear the half of it - we only hear what people want us to hear - just as in the countries we believe are brain-washed!
Yes indeedy - the evil Richard Murdoch flexes the tentacles of his media empire as part of his cunning plan to rule the world...... once ha owns ALL the media in ALL the world he can make up all the news and then we are all doomed - right?
I hope not............... I haven't got my mercurial religious hat on right now; I was just thinking of the tv ratings and the advertising revenue and who would win - sorry!
I was thinking what weapon GWB would have used - he'd probably wave a small plastic knife (like they give you these days on aeroplanes) while instructing a stealth bomber to drop a 'bunker buster' on Saddam.
Saddam, being slightly more intelligent, would probably get one of his doubles to fight on his behalf while he dressed up in drag and watched from the sidelines playing nervously with his moustache.
I'd have liked to have seen Bush versus Saddam O'Shane thingy person - you know the Irish despot who ruled Iraq - fight to the death live on tv, instead of ordering tens of thousands to be killed by their inability to chill out and do that male Greek dancing thingy together!
Personally I believe that if a young girl of sixteen is dating a guy of 93 (or vice versa) then it sounds a little suspicious to me!
Those that say age is only a number - who are they trying to kid?
Women live, on average, longer than men........... logically men should marry a woman a couple of years older so that their life expectancies coincide - does a man really want the woman he loves to be likely to spend 7 years grieving over his death before she falls off her perch if she is five years younger than him?
My fiancee is eight years younger than me - she wants me to be healthy and live long...... but, what the heck, I'd be happy to die while she is still young enough to find another man - as long as the quality of our life together is wonderful!
Is our so-called civilisation going down the path where Gladiators will soon fight to the death live on tv, or people are seen commiting suicide? Will individuals sell to the media their dying moments from some incurable cancer to be shown live on tv so we can weep for them safe in the knowledge that our macabre desire to see them die will help fund that person's orphaned childrens' education??
What do you think?
Is death the ultimate 'thrill' that shall eventually nolonger be a public taboo?
Will we in the west follow the likes of Al Gezira (sorry if spelt wrong) that show tv footage of hostages being 'wasted'?
Are we, as human beings, civilised - or are we all merely wolves and sheep pretending to be something more than the most evil and cunning animal on this planet?
