RE: What do you think of Obama's job as President right now?

It's a great time to invest! conversing grin

RE: So who wants toget laid?

I laid a paving stone once, but it kinda looks 'not quite level' dunno confused help

I was going to say 'but it fell over' but that would have been really dumb!

RE: So who wants toget laid?

'Getting laid' is a cheap, nasty, demeaning expression.

If somebody wants to 'get laid' then they can rut in the street like dogs for all I care - the term 'getting laid' cheapens the most wonderful human relationship!

Yours grumpily,

Old Tom the sour puss! cool

RE: 10 questions that every intelligent Christian must answer

The prayer bit is perfectly rational:

'Where two or more are gathered in my name and pray'

People pray out loud.

A. N. Other hears the prayer and, being a good Christian helps make it happen!

Perfectly logical - and some even know good surgeons who can now transplant a limb!

RE: Rough Justice!

Throwing just one shoe is silly.............. throwing two shoes makes more sense! What use is the one shoe you're left wearing minus its twin? It's silly! It's dumb!

Now if he had only been a USA military man and maybe bruised himself while getting arrested he'd have won at least a 'Purple Heart' for getting wounded in action!

No - I think three years is ridiculous. The guy should have been given a severe reprimand like being told he was a 'naughty man' and let off with a smile.

The head of security, on the other hand, should have lost his job, his pension and made to give back that watch he pinched off Bush when he was 'gladhanding' people in where was it - Georgia? confused

RE: The Smoking and Honesty Thread...

Well, it can't be that reprobate Phoenix, it certainly can't be me - so one of the two ladies must be a rock star! laugh

RE: The Smoking and Honesty Thread...

I'm terrified.

I'm terrified that I am slowly/quickly killing myself.

I'm also terrified that I'll try and quit and fail.

I hate failure and don't want to try and do something positive and then fail and feel even worse than if I hadn't tried.

Does that make any sense?

I think I know how Phoenix might feel - he said he was going to stop and he meant it at the time; it didn't work for him and he's had to make a joke out of it rather than feel awful.

My apologies to you, Phoenix, if I am wrong. I have no right to imagine what it is like for another person; maybe I have too much imagination!¬

The rest of you have mostly done fantastically well - the success rate is truly phenomenal.

Well done! thumbs up

RE: The Smoking and Honesty Thread...

Is that Phoenix, smoky, ginainitaly or me? confused

Most Prolific posters!

Most prolific poster?

You beat my 'score' - 501 pages of posts............ all quality, I hope! grin

Most prolific poster?

Any nominations?

I checked out a few people I know and one had over 700 PAGES of CS posts............... mine was 400+ PAGES which represents at least a few hours/days/weeks of my life posting here!

How many PAGES of posts have YOU written here?

cool

Most Prolific posters!

I looked up a few CS members posts and wondered who holds the record for the most number of PAGES of posts - any ideas? conversing

I wonder if CS have a limit like a 1,000? dunno

1,000 pages equates to how many hours typing away in CS?

Lord only knows - but it's a little frightening in some ways, isn't it?

hug

RE: Karma and Bernie Madoff

The lesson is 'Never trust a guy called Bernie'

Bernie might sound a cute, cuddly name but beware of Bernies who 'Madoff' with your life savings!

Apologies to any CS members called 'Bernie'. tongue

RE: Guns Laws

We have glorious brave hunters here who blast away at little (and sometimes not so little endangered birds) migrating birds as they fly over this little rock of an island.

Our villa has been peppered with shotgun pellets in the past and I'd not be too happy if I'd been accidentally blinded. The hunters can get a little 'uppity' if their right to hunt is questioned and have burnt the cars etc of those who have dared complain too much!

There's always been the claim that making guns illegal equals the criminals having a free hand as criminals are less likely to obey the law.

I think it is an ongoing debate, especially in the USA - where the 'right to bear arms' is almost genetically imprinted in a large percentage of the population.

RE: Karma and Bernie Madoff

A guy who was interviewed had lost five million dollars and he hoped Madoff lived a long life in jail and he was asked did he mind paying as a taxpayer for a long jail sentence and he said:

'Hell no - I hope he lives a long, long time in jail and I'm happy to foot part of the bill!'

RE: add a word

'Leather' sounds nice............. a nice soft leather seat on a bicycle - and wearing lederhosen, of course, and having a stein or two and then you fall off your bicycle and start dancing and then people gather round you lying there on the ground with your leather hat with the alpenweiss flower in the ditch and you're panting away and 'they' cheer and then 'they' start singing German drinking songs and you feel quite sick and............... help

RE: The Smoking and Honesty Thread...

Very sad to hear about your best friend's close friend who is dying............. well done you for having quit now for 40 days and nights!

Well done and keep it up! thumbs up

RE: Smoking is now a "nonpsychotic mental disorder"

No, I am NOT psychotic! tongue

RE: Smoking is now a "nonpsychotic mental disorder"

My definition of dying of old age is that you die of cancer - cancer is merely the abnormal reproduction of cells and as you get older and older and cells replicate themselves only 99.99999999 percent accurately the tiny abberations gradually build up and then you get all worn out.

Yup, you heard it first here folks......

OLD AGE = CANCER!

dancing cool help

RE: The Smoking and Honesty Thread...

You need to write this down and carry it everywhere you go:

'Scratch more - smoke less!'
