RE: shooting in Germany

Which world are you living in? Pakistani madrasas have become a major problem for Pakistani state itself.

RE: Does love really exist?

Yes...there is one love. Love thy self. Our love for everything else is a reflection of love for self...the eternal EGO

RE: Why aer my kids so Goddam Happy?

Its a classic Myth to say that Kids are more happy than others....
Kids are hedonistic. They think of the present and don't harp on things that happend 30 mins ago nor are their intellect developed enuf to think of the future. That 'live the moment' attitude is so pristine in them that their happiness encompasses their behaviour

RE: Do animals have soul?

scientific evidence? what evidence do you have for existence of human soul. I would like to read a peer reviewed journal article for this.

RE: ORIGIN OF UNIVERSE: GOD / BIG BANG

I don't believe anything. Nor superior or Inferior. I just try to connect dots through rationality. Maybe there is a higher power, alas no evidence of it though

RE: Can You Believe In A Religeon You Have Never Questioned.?

I am well aware of the judeo/christian/islamic god. I think there are lot of positive aspects to so called messengers like Jesus and Mohammad. They were able to inspire a lot of people and good amazing stuff as well.

However, I don't beleive in the religion or god they claim to be following. I am glad to go to hell after I die. I don't want to live in a heaven with "God" who is a eternal dictator.

Thanks!

RE: Atheist or Non-Atheist ?

My situation is complicated - I am a cultural beleiver but a atheist by real belief - if you know what that means -

That is, I follow the norms of my family/near and dears belief/social rituals so I get a sense of belonging. I don't want to be osctrazied or be secluded. I dont want to offend others believes for sure. Deep within, I am conviced because of my strong secular upbringing/modern evidence that existing current manifestations of mono/polytheistic gods are all man mad.

I like one point raised by a person here in this thread - and I think debates in next few decades will reveal more, that why should religion be respected? many relgions don't offer the option of 'heaven' after death to non-believers. Don't they (non-beleivers) have the right to be blunt in their opinion. I am personally not comfy offending any religion but offense without hate or violence should be permited and social accepted by the civil society at large I feel.

RE: Puttin visit to pakistan

Downfall of modern macroeconomic principles are not flawless - but to say that it all has to crash is a theory being spoken about not since 2008 but since many decades -- just that GDP is still a huge economic indicator and the world still uses the US dollar - for international transcations - China's manfucaturing is still heavily dependent on the US - India's software sale - 70% of it is sold to the US
Research fundded by US universities produces more Science and Techonology papers than combinted output of next 2 (japan and England the last time I saw) -

I have such strong numbers to suggest that - yes other economies are getting stronger and hence US dependency is less - but the doomsday theory has been spoke for manyd decades and will still be discussed - the reality seems to be a bit divergent

RE: Puttin visit to pakistan

I went to a top business school and my world view is a conventional economic perspective - You like it or dont like it - world economy is heavily dependent on US economy for the next few decades

RE: New here :)

Welcome to CS!

RE: Is religion the most important thing for you to consider to marry someone ?

Well when you say don't bring religion into this - why did you mention 4 wives (Islamic tradition) - why not 5 or 6? If its your beleive that its right thing to do, then state it boldly. I felt that your covertly expressing your opinion here.

RE: Down’s syndrome Pakistani girl accused of blasphemy

**The main challenge for moderates is that there is a huge variation in what is defined to be moderate. Atleaste 30% of moderates still consider themselves muslims first and other identities later. Now this is a huge aspect considering most Christians, Hindus or even communists (lol, yes they are faith I feel - they dont buy reason!) wont show allegiance to religion over and above country.

**More than 20-30% of the moderates also beleive God's law is superior to a country's laws. Of course there are other moderates who are more liberal, dont belive in 6th century concept of modesty and all.

Overall - Moderates are not all liberaes among muslims.

All the other religions have adpated practices to modern world more quickly than muslims. Muslims will gradually adapt over next 100-150 years is what I reckon. and the biggest challenge in adpating to the new age? their staunch belief that the Koran is the world of god itself and hence timeless. So its a paradox. Other religions have lesser challenge because there is a lesser vehement claim of verbatim availability of 'God's' word. Even the bible is regarded as guidance through the divine spirit (am I right here?).

I wont be alive to meet a vastly liberalised islamic society but am very optimitic for their adaptation in the future

RE: Do you believe in God ???

I meant Universe and not University in the last comment - apologies for the error! damn, getting back to school has impacted my consiousness so much..haha

RE: Do you believe in God ???

As I grow older these the things I learn by 'reason' and 'evidence'. Two things that have helped Man (and woman!) progress so much in the last few centuries.

1. Most of the existing faiths in the world today are man made.
2. If there is a creator for this vast University around us, he/she/it
seems to do little to impact its creation.

So my view is fairly agnostic. If I beleive in this larger creator who does not affect its creation, I like to beleive it as Brahmana or great spriit.. that is the ever pervading consiousness - that state of bliss as being divine. It could just be a metaphysical state and nothing else. Well now that means that I am not a beleiver lol.

RE: Down’s syndrome Pakistani girl accused of blasphemy

I think this concept of extreme elements being less than .1 % or 1 % of the community is not the crux of the issue. There is a vast 'moderate' section of the religion which is passive and does not curtail the extreme elements. This passive approval is the prime problem. The extreme elements are not the issues as they declare themselves! the moderates are a bigger challenge because they are quite.

RE: Down’s syndrome Pakistani girl accused of blasphemy

I am neither a pakistani nor a muslim - but I can say that I have been studying pakistan for last six months through various online data. A whole generation of people were forced to undergo islamization in 1980s when the Military took over. That changed the whole structure there.

After all education plays a huge part in what we turn out to be. However, most pakistanis youll come are generally very tolerant. Most of these incidents that are reported are from rural areas which is further deprived of any modern education....there lies the challenge.
