This study gets my goat. Personally I think the "know-it-alls" are overrated and they think all of us sheeple out here are too dumb to know what's best for us.
The arrogance of the ivory towered intelligentsia is pathetic. They barely contribute to society in a real and tangible way. In fact, in many ways THEY are the detriment to society.
Examples? How about people in the US government, i.e. politicians. They work for us but they think they are the fonts of greatness and they know what's best for us. How can a lawyer from Boston know what is best for a farmer in Iowa? Yet these self-aggrandizers are suddenly experts on agriculture because they were appointed to a committee.
College professors are another example of this arrogance. They rule over kids who barely made it out of high school because the education system that THEY helpcompose and impose sucks. You have to bow down to these hermits of the real world and kiss their wrong asses on all subjective material and thought.
I say have a commission to study these temples of arrogance (and ignorance) and see how out of touch they are and how much they hurt society. I will volunteer to work for free on such commission.
I have noticed recently many posts in the forums are made because someone was "offended". I grant that some responses may be over the line especially when it is very personal and rude.
However, not only in the forums, but everywhere you turn it seems someone is offended. Has the world become so thin skinned we cannot accept any form of communication if one person in 6 billion is offended?
Maybe I am wrong but I believe in freedom of speech in all matters. I could care less if someone denegrates the US or my Irish heritage. I tend to correct any misconceptions but I am not offended.
I will not respond in this thread....open to all who wish to participate in the discussion with no threat from me to take down your post.
There is a thread called "Say Something" that is usually the place where people just chat. That thread has been going in one form or another the 5.5 years I have been here.
If a question is answered and the topic is exhausted the thread should die. But sometimes the author of the thread keeps it going themselves so it can go on for days, weeks, months....
The question gets answered by the 2nd or 3rd post most of the time. Then people try to make funny remarks or say hello to someone they haven't seen for a while.
