I don't think it should ever be endorsed by law, that would set a very bad precedent. Perhaps giving the state a legal means to eradicate the elderly, indigent, and ill.
It should always be up to the individual, and it should be in writing, of some description, of the individual that wants to end their life, for whatever reason. Failing the ability to do this under their own means, then someone either appointed to the, or their legal counsel, with any and every supporting measure should be made, and held, responsible for their decision.
I would never want anyone to ask for their own life to be taken by anyone, without knowing full well that others will ultimately be resposnsible, in one way oe another. I'd like to see the courts ease their responsibility in a number of ways, and also grant they dying their wish, in a dignified manner, that doesn't affect the living in a negative fashion.
It really should be up to the one that wants to end their life, for whatever reason. Others should have no legal means to interfere, let alone the courts. It really is an individual choice.
I don't see the thread truly going downhill until we get the Scrabble board out, along with a sheet of plastic and a bottle of olive oil. That's when the slope gets really slippery.
Oh, I dunno about this...I've been accused of writing a decent email by more than one chick, and well, here I am at 3:30 am, all alone other than a drooling dog next to me.
More than once I've turned around and let the person know that I don't give piggyback rides to anyone over the age of 12, and they usually back off pretty quick.
Hmmm, constant complainers for one, but the rest is subjective, some things certain people annoy me to no end, yet when it's someone else, it's not so bad, or possibly even endearing. Odd, isn't it?
Oh, people with lists, it bothers me, I have at least 3 going at any given time and it's infuriating.
I would suspect that anything from the level subsistence living or less would be deemed as poverty pretty much anywhere in the world. Where one has no clear sight of anything better than just survival, with the most basic of necessities, and little or no options for anything more.
An abysmal life for those living it, but it is a harsh reality for all too many on the planet.
Happy birthday, belated, but this is your official day.
Another one in a long line of patriotic and civilised Americans, murdered for no good reason.
He wasn't completely without fault, and even hated by some, but still someone worthy of merit, and of an official holiday in the US.
He knew it was coming, yet didn't hide, but the nation, or rather politicos of the day, turned their back on him, leading to his eventual assassination.
They aren't banning Trump from the UK, that story was dead before it ever really took off.
This is how the American media manipulates the minds of the masses, by providing things to distract people from the real issues, and it seems to work very well.
Nigel is rather interesting, I like him, Le Pen, well, a bit extremist for my tastes, but she does make some good points.
I wonder when they'll call the referendum date in the UK, it should be an interesting time, even more interesting that the US election. It'll actually mean something.
I dunno, after having a look around at some threads, I do seriously question some people's sanity, or at least wonder if they're in touch with reality.
I'm not sure this is a site that I want to spend too much time on anymore. I have been on here for over 9 years, met a lot of great people, some of whom I'm still in touch with, some on a daily basis. It's changed though, and not for the better, and that is at least partially due to the Mod's/owners of the site, but mainly because of the members. Most of the decent people have fled, been banned, or simply don't post on the forums anymore. Not saying there aren't any decent people left, there are, but they don't voice their opinions as often as they used to.
I'm not reminiscing about the way things were so much as I am concerned about the way things are, and the way things will be. The site, and the world, are not the way they were when I first logged in here. Technology has advanced, in every aspect, but people haven't evolved to meet the change. I see more people retreating to their homes and staying there, not going anywhere they don't have to, and seeing less neighbours, community members, and people in general.
The young still go out, but us in the 35/40 to dead range don't, and it's proven by stat's, no matter how they're manipulated. We all need to connect with others, chat, socialise, converse, share, express themselves, etc., but things have changed.
Almost every time I view the site, or log in, I get a feeling of negativity, or of impending doom, and after reading the forums, I know exactly why. This isn't the way it should be, or needs to be, and it can be reversed to a feeling of positivity, hope, and something more meaningful, worthwhile, productive, and something that will benefit us all.
I'm glad we had this chat, and I apologise to Ped's for the hijack, but this is the way things are in the forums.
Could be for some, but I think quite a few might be lacking in some department, or maybe more than one, hence the need for BS. A way of filling the need for things they're lacking in their lives, even if it's all make believe...after all, it is the internet, and they probably believe that nobody will ever be the wiser. Thing is, people aren't all stupid, and realise that someone claiming to have a PhD or being a Professor that can't figure out facts, pay attention to details, or do simple math, is a complete fabrication.
There's loads of them on here, as well as offline, but if one pays attention, they're rather easy to spot.
Anyway, dog's walked, dishes are done, I've poured myself a drink...not sure whether to watch a movie, or have a look at the forums. Which on would contain less BS?

True, they do seem to be all over the place, sadly. Which makes me wonder, what do they gain from it? Most can see straight through it, some call them on it, and yet they continue on with it, likely believing their own BS. I'm starting to believe it's a form of mental illness.....just hope there's a cure.
A quick read of any political thread should suffice, the right wingers are chock full of BS. I'm surprised that they don't explode being that full of it.
About -24 C and just in from a 5 km walk. Felt like getting some fresh air before logging in here where it can get somewhat stifling with the BS of some posters.
Wow, just had a look at my post history...seems the Mod's were busy deleting nearly everything I said all week.
I wonder if this post will disappear as well.
Seems some people have no sense of humour, can't handle the truth, and don't like opposing views. S'ok, they're likely all Republicans anyway, so it doesn't matter.
RE: sneaky cruz- spreading lies about carson.....
I'm still hopeful Sanders will be your next president. Seeing as a black man can be elected, why not a socialist.
