Now, that I have reached the age of 41 and went through quite hard times in life, the answer to your question seems clearer to me than some time ago.
I have lost my job 3 times due to short sighted profit orientated managers. I build a house and the company went bancrupt with all my savings. I married and my former wife ran away with such an above mentioned manager.
I looked desperately for a new partner for some time in the internet without success.
Now, that I thought I have nothing to loose, I somehow woke up, said to myself not to participate in this hunting for job, money and love.
And after ten years of suffering I am not afraid anymore and nobody can threaten me.
Finally, as a free and independant man, I walk upright and smile. And when I am in peace with myself, I could be happy with the girl from next door (e.g. my first love as a kid), or the one from my town (e.g. the blonde one from high school I once kissed), or a woman from another country (like my ex-wife).

At least I am curious what life will bring in 2007.
