I'm surprised they didn't just remove the whole thread like they did with her ranting one on here rather than post a reply themselves, never seen that happen before.
I think it depends on a few things, there's no hard and fast rules.
If you've been talking to someone for months, sometimes years, before the opportunity to meet arises that's completely different to arranging a date with someone you only spoke to the previous day.
Even though it's a dating site I don't come on here with the expectation of meeting a guy who's perfect for me....the odds of someone down the road logging in at the same time as me and finding my profile are pretty minimal I'd have though. If that were to happen the chance of us being what we're both looking for lessens the odds even more.
You can feel a connection with someone, get on famously with them online and over the phone but until you physically meet you won't know if there's that spark or not.
Always live in hope though, and a few hours distance shouldn't be a huge barrier when you're considering what could be the rest of your life.
