According to the TV evening news people there are currently 3,300 lobbyists in D.C. working to influence how various aspects of the UHC package are written. We, the common USA citizen, have no one looking out for us. At this time, I say let the damn thing die.
From what I have read much of the proposed UHC Bill was written by lobbyists and not our elected officials. How can anyone know what is in a 1,000+ page bill anyway.
Yes, to so many the fault lies with anyone except themselves. Or, if their circumstances are of being in the wrong place at the wrong time, they expect the world to come knocking at their door with another chance. They don't think they should have to get off their butt and make their next chance. So sad.
No matter what happens the private bond investors are screwed big time. So many of them bought the bonds for their retirement.
GM has been in dire straights for some time - between $4/gallon gas last year and this recession they really don't have a chance. Hate to see any worker starve but throwing taxpayer money at the problem will just delay the end of GM as we've known it.
