RE: Important

That Ken guy looks creepy. I wonder if he ever met the human Barbie? They would probably hate each other.

When I was 17 I weighed 155lbs I hit 165 when I was working in construction I had to shovel about 2 tons of dirt. My legs got so strong I had difficulty walking, I had to run. I've been as low as 145. I just weighed myself and I'm 155 right now. When I was 15 my mother made me a shirt which I designed it had short sleeves and was black with white thread and white buttons. It was awesome. It still fits me like a glove. I don't work out although as a young man I was into lifting weights for a while but not seriously. I abhor anything identified as Lo Fat or Diet. I wont touch Margarine although we were poor then and that's all we could afford, never again, it's butter now and whole milk. One day when I was about 25 I had a craving for butter so I went to the store and bought a 1/4 lb stick of butter and ate the whole thing like a candy bar. I eat junk food til I'm full. Sometimes I completely forget to eat.

Funding the Wall

"Not My President" is trying to find funding for his Great Wall which is supposed to keep the hoards of hard working fruit pickers away from the Orange trees and tomato vines. This way he will create jobs for all the poor American citizens that are on Welfare sitting at home in the projects watching Soul Train on TV.
What I can't understand though is why does he need funding for the Great Wall if he promised during the campaign that Mexico is going to pay for it? All he has to do is tell the contractors to send the invoice to the Mexican government and they will be paid right away. I mean I've heard it said many times that he is the first POTUS in decades who is actually keeping the promises he made during the campaign, even the stupid ones.

RE: What is your favorite color?

That apartment isn't far from my old neighborhood. 52 st right off the East River.I lived on 85st off 2nd Ave. Many times me and my friends would go down to John Jay pool on 78st by the River.

One way time travel

here is something I bet you didn't consider, if 500 CS members decided to go back to this island you may have to climb a tree to get some peace & quiet. Now if 500 CS members decided to go to prison they could talk the warden out of the keys and open all the cells and take over the joint.laugh

One way time travel

Wait a minute. How would you order a pizza if you went back in time a 100,000 years? Pizza didn't exist back then to say nothing about Tomatoes and mozzarella cheese. Or computers.

One way time travel

It seems you missed the part where it stated the island in uninhabited meaning there are no Humans of any kind.
Also, you say Neanderthals are good people, Have you ever met a real Neanderthal I don't mean some of the blind dates you may ave had?

I've thought about this question for a long time and the one thing I would really miss is a cold bottle of soda.

One way time travel

OK here's the scenario:
You've committed a crime and you're given a choice, spend twenty years in prison or be sent back in time 100,000 years to an island surrounded by 200 miles of ocean. The island in uninhabited but it does have wildlife. There is no coming back to the present. you can bring anything you can carry except firearms.
If you chose time travel;
What would you miss most of modern life? Music? a car? the internet? MacDonalds? Beer?

If you chose prison in 20 years you'll be back with loved ones and people and all the modern world has to offer.

More proof manufacturing jobs wont return to the USA

No idea, the only thing I watch on CNBC is stock market programing. Until you mentioned it I didn't even realize it came from a CNBC reporter. Does it really matter? I thought the story was rather compelling and bears out what common sense would indicate. I found it quite interesting that jobs have migrated to China due to the much cheaper labor costs and now jobs are migrating from China to Bangladesh and Viet Nam for the same reason.

No halfway intelligent thinking person could ever believe that the US can compete on costs with these 3rd world countries. Would you take a job working even 40 hours a week for $100 a month? No, I didn't think so.
The irony is even if he could bring these jobs back, the only people willing to work them are being deported to Mexico.
Somehow I get a strong feeling that he just doesn't connect the dots.

RE: Share What You Are Listening To -- Part XVII

IMO, this is one of the best songs Billy Holiday's ever recorded. Teddy Wilson on Piano is awesome.

The Trouble With the European Union

Oh the cost must be incredible, who pays for that? BTW is the wall to keep people in or out? The Berlin Wall proved that only repressive political systems build walls.

RE: The trouble with America is ...

Also, I'm not a beer drinker but if I were, it damn sure wouldn't be Bud Lite.

RE: The trouble with America is ...

How do YOU say Basil? And Produce?
On the subject of Metric vs inch's & pounds. The Metric system is based on the Earth whereas the American system is based on the human body. In many ways Metric is much easier to use mathematically being a base 10 decimal system. On the other hand, the US system in a way is like the ancient system from the pharaohs of Ancient Egypt. A Cubit was the length of a mans forearm from the elbow to the tip of the stink finger and it measured roughly 18 inches. There were 3 different Cubits BTW.The inch was the length of the thumb from the end to the first joint, the foot was the length of well, a foot. A yard was roughly the length of a mans stride which = 3 feet. It came in handy to have all these measuring devices an integral part of a mans body. The Metric system doesn't have that.
Personally, I move easily between inch's and millimeters due to my experience as a foreign car mechanic in fact I'm one of few old mechanics who has had to work with British Standard wrench sizes when I worked for the Rootes Group.

Back to words, you people have a habit of compacting multisyllabic words which make it hard to understand for example take the word Amazon, it's common for Brits to eliminate the o making it sound like Amazin. Battery is Batry and Brits can't pronounce the letter R for example;
"This is Bennet Jones with the BBC Newsauw"

The Trouble With the European Union

It is my opinion, and I'm really not an expert on matters across the pond, that the EU was originally fashioned similar to the United States of America. The idea being that it would be mutually beneficial to all the countries of Europe if they were to form a pact whereby it was "one for all and all for one" like the USA. If one country came under attack, all the other countries would automatically be involved. A common currency could be established and there would be no border restrictions such as needing a passport to go from one country in the Union to any other.This seemed to work very well for years but there was/is a flaw in the formula which was unexpected or dismissed as unnecessary. Unlike the USA the EU has no Federal Governing Authority like exists in America.
I can't even begin to imagine how the US would function without a Federal Government regardless of how so many people seem to hate it at times. Can you imagine if every American state had to maintain a standing Army? Don't even mention an Air Force or Navy. I think the citizens of Kansas would balk at having to fund a Navy.
See;

dunno

I realize Aussies have their own language but could you please translate "Buckles" for us English speaking people?

RE: Best Black and White Movies

The greatest B/W movie is not on your list. I'll give you a few hints to its identity;

It's in Japanese with English subtitles.

It's over 3 hours long.

Most people have never heard of it, much less seen it.

A color remake was made in Hollywood in 1960 with some of the biggest male stars of the decade Yul Brynner, Steve McQueen, Charles Bronson Eli Wallach Robert Vaughn and James Coburn

It bombed at the box office.

Another color remake has been made in 2016, the (Diversity at all cost era) with a black dude, Denzel Washington in the lead role and I predict it will bomb as well.

How far can an industry stray from historical facts and remain believable and relevant?

Steve Bannon fired from NSC

I apologize for my misleading thread title, I should have sad his resignation was accepted. Isn't that what they say in the corporate world when an executive steps on his Richard?laugh

RE: Just wanna get married!!!!

I have a question;
Why make one man miserable when you can make so many happy?banana

Steve Bannon fired from NSC

rmac;

"The official said the White House was bringing back more of a George W. Bush-era-type NSC. The council will be more streamlined and the decision making more deliberative, the official said."

more streamlined
more deliberative

Kinda like the streamlined and deliberate move George Bush made when he abandoned the fight in Afghanistan and stupidly blundered into invading Iraq?

What a maroon!rolling on the floor laughing

Steve Bannon fired from NSC

I guess NMP trump got the memo about the huge mistake he made appointing Bannon to the NSC in the first place.
Look at the pic of Bannon in the att link. Is that not the image of an alcoholic? He's got all the signs IMO

BTW Ping is going to eat trumps lunch when they meet.

Why past jobs will never come back to America
