Why past jobs will never come back to America

People enter the thread and see nothing but you going on and on about off topic BS and they soon leave, maybe that's your plan all along?

Why past jobs will never come back to America

Dude, I didn't create this thread to provide you with a forum to talk to yourself.

Why past jobs will never come back to America

Because they never left! They simply ceased to exist. To bring these jobs back is like bringing the dead back to life. The following picture is a graphic example of exactly what I mean. How many people (jobs) do you see in that picture? How many people (jobs) do you NOT see, like the 100's it took to make that Hard Drive?
The SD card in my cheapass flip phone holds 4000X as much data as that monstrosity and I can stick it up my nose if I felt like it.

Coal miners believe NMP Trump is their savior

Coal miners believe NMP Trump is their savior

They are mistaken. There is nothing he can do to create more jobs in coal country by pimping the use of coal in industry such as power plants. The world has evolved and there are much better sustainable ways of generating electric power than by drilling holes in the ground and impairing the health of hard working men to go down into these holes and chop out these rocks so they can be burned. This is 18th century technology. People who live in Eastern Kentucky and West Virginia have learned it's way more profitable to be a merchant of Meth than a coal miner, and a lot easier and cleaner, why, they don't even have to leave the house and people come to them with cash, lots of it.

Coal is a dying industry and you don't have to look very far for proof.

It would be much better long term for him to use his position to try to induce industry that specializes in wind turbines and solar panels to exploit the abundant idle workforce in these areas who are very willing and able to devote their lives to the company. They already demonstrate that everyday by risking their lives in GDM coalmines getting "Black Lung disease".

Maybe I should apply for the job of advising him instead of whoever the schmuck is that has the job now.dunno

RE: Happy Easter

The little boy in that 2nd gif was lucky that Rooster didn't lacerate his face. I've raised chickens for years and I know their body language and that Rooster was very jealous that the kid was messing with his lady.

RE: Best Decade for Music

I would consider the 50's the most important decade in music with the birth of R&R, Doo Wop, and R&B (not the crap that goes by that handle these days). The 50's get short shift though because it only started in the middle of the decade 1955 with Alan Freed. The first half of the decade was consumed with Patty Page, Johnny Ray, Eddie Fisher, Perry Como, Remember "Come-on-a My House" " Tennessee Waltz" "You Belong to Me", and "Half as Much"?

Of the choices given I have to go with the 60's & 70's.

Disco and young girls who had an urge to dance brought the curtain down on R&R.

RE: Repeal & Replace: Biggest Loser...Donald Trump!

The Republicans have tried 63 times if I'm not mistaken, to repeal the Affordable Care Act and failed. Does this make 64?
In my long life I have never seen such incompetence. trump talks about "Draining the Swamp" in fact the swamp has become more infested with a whole new breed of creepy crawlies.
The Republicans control all 4 branches of Gov, the House, the Senate, the White House and the Supreme Court and they STILL can't accomplish something as simple as repealing what they call a terrible bill.

ARE WE GREAT YET?dunno

RE: DO YOU BELIEVE IN UFO'S AND EXTRATERRESTRIALS?

This is a totally jaded poll. In order to vote NO one must call themselves an idiot. The pollster should never editorialize the poll choices or the poll is useless.

RE: Outsourced jobs, might all come back

So are you saying that the UK doesn't import anything from China?

Trump loses a powerful ally, Billionaire Koch brothers

Here's a clip from a recently discovered home movie of a chat between Donald and his real estate developer father, Fred Trump.

Trump loses a powerful ally, Billionaire Koch brothers

I see it as Trump has been eroding the berm that has been holding back a gigantic boulder at the top of a hill, and that boulder has now started ever so slowly to roll down and there's no way for the orange man to get out of the way before it rolls right over him. He will be crushed like the cockroach he is. It's only a matter of time.wave

RE: Outsourced jobs, might all come back

Every black man & woman over the age of 10 was employed in the AnteBellum south. Nobody cared what their pay scale was. You could say they enjoyed an incredibly high, enviable, employment ratio. I can't understand why they weren't happy.confused

RE: Climate change ahead ... Mt Etna erupts

I guess they didn't read the sign that said "This Volcano is scheduled to erupt at 3PM Thursday Sicily standard time."

Elephant Poaching Pushes Species To Brink Of Extinction

Wow, what a man.

Notice there's no blood on that little pocket knife he's holding? I wonder if he mounted that tail over his mantle?

This reminds me of that Dentist who lured a tame lion out of a protected preserve in Zimbabwe so he could kill it with his bow and arrow.

RE: Outsourced jobs, might all come back

There, I fixed that for you.laugh

I worked for a very big company years ago maybe you've heard of it ITT. One of the divisions, ITT Automotive owned a shock absorber co in Holland. The shocks were imported by a private co in New Jersey and distributed in the US. Some executive up in Detroit at ITT HQ thought it would be more efficient to manufacture the shocks here in the US esp for use on American cars. So he convinced the company to go ahead with the idea. First a suitable facility had to be found or built to put up a plant, machinery had to be bought and installed, workers had to be hired and trained (the American plant was located in a rural area where most of the labor pool, while willing to work for less, were farmers with no industrial heritage as opposed to say New Jersey or the "Rust Belt"). In short, the whole endeavor took about 2 years and many millions of dollars and when it was finally done and shocks started coming off the assembly line, the whole thing was shut down. About 150 jobs that were created all vanished over night. Why?
Because it cost $9.00 more to build a shock here in the US, than it cost to build it in Holland and ship it across the ocean. In the business world that fact outweighs everything else, like it or not!

If Trump succeeds in convincing or forcing a manufacturer to shut a plant in SE Asia and reopen it up here in the US, the price of the goods made by that US based plant will absolutely cost a lot more and sales of said product will crash. Anyone who thinks otherwise knows nothing about global economics.

The net result of all this clawing back of jobs, will be an across the board lowering of the American standard of living due the prices of everything going up.

RE: Do u want to be self employed ?

I quit my last job in 1994 and quite frankly was in no hurry to get back into the rat race and taking orders from some jerk. It was about 3 months of laying around doing nothing when the brother of my gf mentioned that he funded his college somewhat by doing deliveries of envelopes and small packages for a messenger co. I said, I could do that, at least to slow down the consumption of my savings. So I looked up some local messenger Co's and by the next day I had 3-4 deliveries to do in Manhattan with another experienced driver riding shotgun to teach me the ropes. I gotta tell ya, having 2 people in NYC ( the parking ticket capital of the world) was great (1 to go into the building with the delivery, the other to stay with the car). After a couple of days I was on my own. I did that for about 2 years when I graduated to a 20 foot straight truck and I was well on my way to being an independent contractor (trucker) and never looked back.

I'm making a batch of Yogurt tomorrow

serene and pat, I tried freezing the can(dle) and hitting it with a hair dryer to exploit the different coefficients of expansion between wax and aluminum to no avail. I had great hopes for that endeavor.

I'm making a batch of Yogurt tomorrow

Progress report;
Well, The gallon of milk has been heated to 180 deg f and it is now cooling down to 140 f on its way to 120 f. I've whisked in 3/4 c of sugar to speed up the cooling process as well as 1/2 pound of "Pampa" strawberry fruit spread and a tsp of Vanilla.
When the milk cools to 120 I'll whisk in a cup of store bought yogurt with active yogurt cultures. I have 9 tall crystal tumblers warming as I type which will be filled with the liquid mixture and placed into 2 small styrofoam coolers which will be placed into 1 large styrofoam cooler and by tomorrow morning I'll have a batch of yogurt. Into the fridge they go after being covered with Saran wrap and a rubber band and I'm done.
BTW, I was able to pull the candle out of the can by the wick so the day is off to a great start.

I'm making a batch of Yogurt tomorrow

I haven't made yogurt in about 6 months so I think I'd like some for a change. I'm making strawberry vanilla.

Today I made a soda can candle. For some reason I can't get the candle out of the can so tomorrow I'm going to drill a small hole in the bottom of the can and blow the candle out. I've calculated with 100 PSI of pressure the force on the candle will be 508 pounds. If I'm not careful, the candle will come out of the can like a cannonball. Maybe I'll start with a lower pressure like 25 PSI. I didn't want to drill the can because I wanted to use it again. Maybe I can solder up the hole, of course I could always cut another soda can.

RE: The Dr said that i'm totally stressed out !

Years ago an event happened in my life that was so stressful that I broke out in a severe case of itchy Hives. It was on my back, stomach, arms, and chest, It took about a year of Prescription lotions and pills to get it eradicated. joy

RE: Monica Crowley and her observations of Trump's future

stringman, Obama is not the POTUS anymore, so who cares what fake god he or you follows?

RE: Kim Jong Un - Barbaric despot

I have little doubt that Kim Jung UN had his half brother Kim Jung NAM killed. Corroborative evidence to this belief lies in the fact that there has been no reports of any investigations into this assassination. Think about it; A close relative of this narcissistic tyrant is murdered and there is no investigation? He would have been a lot smarter if he launched an investigation to deflect suspicions against himself. It shows he either is stupid or he is so confident in himself that he doesn't care if anybody thinks or knows he did it. OR, he wants everybody around him to know just how dangerous it is to oppose him if he'd kill his own brother. Here's another tidbit. Where does 2 women come into possession of an extremely dangerous controlled nerve agent and know how to use it? DUH

China is getting very tired of pulling this pigs fat out of the fire I think. Stay tuned, this story isn't over yet. conversing

RE: The Dr said that i'm totally stressed out !

I have a cure for stress but it expired 4 hours ago.

RE: Monica Crowley and her observations of Trump's future

Why should I move to Europe, I was born in Queens NY? Maybe you should read the link Conrad posted, you might learn that Soros isn't as bad as people on the far right make him out to be.

BTW, You and I have a lot in common. I like the outdoors and fishing too. In fact my wife and I went on our honeymoon to Canada with a pup tent and a sleeping bag and camped out for a solid week. We had a 21 acre farm about 65 miles from here where we raised pigs and chickens eventually beef cows. I had a 3/4 ac pond built which I stocked with Bluegill and Bass. In the woods lived a flock of wild turkeys.
Of course unlike you, I didn't have to worry about some coal Co dumping coal ash in my pond with its arsenic, chromium and mercury.
How do you feel about your party trying to eliminate regulations s which prevent coal ash being dumped into your favorite fishing stream?

One more thing; I apologize for dissing where you live, I have no doubt it is a really beautiful country place, I just wanted to illustrate that my lifetime growing up in the Big Apple makes me far better qualified at spotting a phony con man like Donald Trump than someone from your neck of the woods. It may surprise you to learn that I lived in KY for about 3 years so I'm no stranger to Kentucky.cheers

RE: Monica Crowley and her observations of Trump's future

Thank you, I'm liking George Soros even more now. I would love to see him as president instead of this Orange talk show host.

RE: Monica Crowley and her observations of Trump's future

Where would you be without your little friends? rolling on the floor laughing and jaw drop
I'm surprised you didn't drag George Soros into your response.
