"From Los Angeles, California, USA, this vocal group comprised first tenor lead Johnny Wyatt (b. 1938, Texacali, Texas; d. 1983), tenor lead Rochell Henderson, baritone Melvin Sasso, and bass T.C. Henderson. Their one hit, ‘Once Upon A Time’ (number 20 R&B, number 26 pop), from 1961, was part of the early 60s neo-doo-wop phenomenon when doo-wop experienced a resurgence of interest on the charts. The novelty of the falsetto lead of Wyatt plus the name of ‘Rochell’ gave many listeners the false impression that the group was led by a female. The follow-up, ‘So Far Away’ (1961), likewise featured Wyatt’s high pitched lead, but despite its excellence, failed to dent the charts. Other singles followed, both on Swingin’ and Challenge, but the Candles could not return to the charts. Their last recording, a sublime remake of the Olympics’ ‘Big Boy Pete’ was released in 1964 to an indifferent world. Wyatt went on to become lead of the soul-era group Johnny And The Expressions, who hit the charts with ‘Something I Want To Tell You’ in 1966. He also made some singles as a solo artist for Bronco during 1966-67."

I hear what you're saying. Every barrel of oil or cubic foot of gas we suck out of the earth is 1 less for future generations and nobody seems to care. It strikes me as the worst form of greed to deprive your descendants of the energy they will need to live. Why even have children if you're going to leave them a barren planet unfit for human existence. 500 years from now, maybe less, people will be living in caves again if there are any humans left alive. On a geological scale the human race is nothing but a flash in the pan. I'm glad I got to experience it before it disappears.
I was about to post to this thread so not wanting to repeat what other people said I started reading what was already posted and Lo, somebody took the words right out of my mouth in post number 6.
The problem with high quality manufactured goods is there is no repeat business. I still have many of the "Williams" wrenches I started out with after 20+ years working as a professional auto mechanic. The ones I no longer have were lost, not worn out. I don't think Williams is even in business anymore and I think that's why.
That's a joke right? The USA would survive very nicely thank you. The only thing I would miss is the cheap tools and crap from Harbor Freight but all that stuff can be manufactured right here, in fact dealing with Chinese junk has been a learning experience for the US in how not to over engineer a product which has made our manufactured products "Too" good and more expensive. At least our domestic tools don't break and last a lifetime unlike Chinese sockets that either split or round off a bolt head. Speaking of rice, you may not be aware but California can produce enough rice to sell some to China. The difference between Chinese and American rice culture is we seed rice fields from airplanes instead of women wading in water above their knees.
That's how long we have to suffer with this damn election. I hardly even turn on the TV anymore because all they talk about is Donald Trump or Ted Cruz or Hilary or Sanders and the no count state of Iowa or polls etc etc. It's like nothing else is happening in the world. Everybody already knows who they're voting for so why don't they just hold the goddamn election next week and be done with it instead of putting the people through this misery? Just stick everybody on the ballot and the one with the most votes wins or is that just too simple? Why does there even have to be candidates? What a stupid inefficient system. Did the "Founding Fathers" come up with this? I've been losing a lot of respect for those a**hole. They were nothing but a bunch of country lawyers before they decided to become politicians. You put a lawyer in charge of anything and it's gonna be screwed up and incomprehensible, that's their stock in trade.
Dying is not the same as being put to sleep before surgery. I hate to say it but it can be very painful. If you've ever seen a person who died from a heart attack you can see that they went through a very traumatic experience. It's kind of sad that the last act a person will do may be much worse than a really bad tooth ache.

Tonight I'm pulling the cushion off the couch and putting it on the floor where the wood stove is. That's where I'll be sleeping tonight. My bedroom is 50 degrees (10c) right now.
The birds have it hard when the ground is covered in snow. They like to go under my truck where the ground is shielded from the snow, that's where I put the feeder cause I know they'll find it under there. I don't mind the over the top talk about a simple snowfall, it beats hearing about ISIS for a change.
It started with a few snow flakes at 8:44 AM here on the East Coast. By 11:21 it was coming down steadily. It is now 4:30PM and I just stuck a ruler into the snow and it's 3" deep. I had 2 gallons of leftover feed from when I had chickens and I put the feeder out for the birds.
I took a hard look at that finger too. It didn't look right, almost like the orig had the finger on the trigger and photoshopped to make it look like it was pointing straight. That pic has been around for years. I seriously doubt it's actually Sarah Palin (too good) but we may never know. Also the eyes don't look quite right.
