Over five thousand years ago, Moses said to the children of Israel, "Pick up your shovels, mount your asses and camels, and I will lead you to the Promised Land .
Nearly 75 years ago, (when Welfare was introduced) Roosevelt said, "Lay down your shovels, sit on your asses, and light up a Camel, this is the Promised Land.
Today, Obama has stolen your shovel, taxed your asses, raised the price of Camels and mortgaged the Promised Land!
I was so depressed last night, thinking about Health Care Plans, the economy, the wars, lost jobs, saving Social Security, retirement funds, etc . . .
I called a Suicide Hotline . I had to press 1 for English. I was then connected to a call center in Pakistan. I told them I was suicidal.
They got excited and asked if I could drive a truck......!
I don't understand how a human can do that to a child, I'm like you...I just can't wrap my head around it. But it happens (and worse). Just prey for the children...
By being charged with a lesser offense (before actually finding the body), could very well jeopardize the main charges they are wanting.
The Law is just so so, and with so many loop holes...I can understand their delay at this time. Police are working to make their case as air-tight as possible.
In my past, I have at times had enough info for certain accusations, but bought my time, waited till I had a better position, more info/evidence to work with on a harsher punishment.
Hi D/F...I don't think I would advise her to try and pull that trick.
Think about it a minute:
The ticket-fine is going to be shown as paid, and if a difference is mailed back to her...by the USPS (Postal service), there is where the responsibility stops, as far as the court system, when it leaves their hands.
Now if she makes a claim that she did not receive her difference (change), then she would be asked to file a claim with the USPS, for lost mail.
That will most likely turn into an investigation, by the USPS Inspector/Investigator.
If it is found to be a fraudulent claim...then she runs the risk of a Federal Offense...which could very easily be seen as a Felony charge, and carry a $10,000 and/or 10 years prison (I think that is the correct penalty).
Bottom line question: Would it be worth it? I think not. But then again, that would just be my opinion.
Actually, by Alabama law (and I assume in other states as well), your only temporally under arrest at the moment that they turn on the lights. Sometimes the lights are not turned on, until you are within a reasonable distance of the arresting officer. This cuts down on the probability of temptation of elude the stop.
Not saying that you would have run...but someone else may have tried to out-run the officer, creating a more dangerous situation with children in the area.
Just saying...(having been an officer in the past)
