As a kid growing up, and watching the crossing guards at elementary school...I developed a desire to become a police officer!
Many years later, I got that opportunity...and enjoyed the new experiences that came with it. But some time later, I begin to realize that a policeman's job and responsibilities was way under-paid for what they (most) do!
So, after quitting...I fell back on my second love of work. As it turned out...I spent the next 30+ years in computer build and repair...till present (retired).
(CNN) – If you are a friend of Don Unsworth, a Georgia businessman who recently passed away, don't send flowers to the family. Just vote against President Obama in 2012.
That was the message conveyed in Unsworth's obituary, according to CNN affiliate station WIS.
"In lieu of flowers the family respectfully asks that donations be sent to the American Cancer Society, or to the campaign of anybody who is running against President Barack Obama in 2012", said the obituary, which ran in the local newspaper.
Donna Barnes said Unsworth was "not really a big Obama fan," taking issue with the stimulus bill and high unemployment rate.
"We just felt like it was the best tribute we could give to him," said Barnes.
A similar plea appeared in the obituary pages of the Las Vegas Review-Journal in July, only the family of Charlotte McCourt asked readers not to vote for Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid.
My reason is because this is an "electoral" vote system, and not a popularity system!
We have people that represent us, and it's these people that the politicians try to win. They win by the number of electoral votes that they can get. So, if you are against the platform of one politician running, and the person that represents your district/state with his/her electoral vote is OK with it...then your vote don't really matter. It is the electoral votes that get "wined and dined"!
Each state has a certain number of electoral votes, and these are what the politicians shoot for...they don't really care what YOU think!
I think things would be a lot better, if our vote were counted individually, as in a popularity system.
AP - With just six weeks to avoid a possible election catastrophe, Democrats are trying to limit the damage with a closing argument that's more plea than platform: We know you voters are furious with us, but just let us explain why the Republicans would be worse.
