Rosalind Elsie Franklin (25 July 1920 – 16 April 1958) was an English chemist and X-ray crystallographer whose work was central to the understanding of the molecular structures of DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid), RNA (ribonucleic acid), viruses, coal, and graphite. Although her works on coal and viruses were appreciated in her lifetime, her contributions to the discovery of the structure of DNA were largely recognised posthumously. Wiki.
Physicist Lise Meitner, who discovered nuclear fission but was denied the Nobel Prize for the discovery Astrophysicist Jocelyn Bell Burnell, who discovered pulsars and was similarly excluded from the Nobel for her own discovery Astronomer Vera Rubin, who confirmed the existence of dark matter and is still bereft of a Nobel as she approaches her ninth decade.
The Victorian polymath Mary Somerville (December 26, 1780–November 28, 1872), who had tutored pioneering computer programmer Ada Lovelace and later introduced her to Charles Babbage, thus sparking their legendary collaboration on the world’s first computer. Somerville’s 1834 treatise On the Connexion of the Physical Sciences so impressed her peers, readers, and reviewers that “man of science” — the term used to refer to a person who had advanced the progress of knowledge — seemed suddenly inappropriate and obsolete. Actress Hedy Lamarr, as well as being a well-known actor, was also an inventor :
At the beginning of World War II, Lamarr and composer George Antheil developed a radio guidance system for Allied torpedoes, intended to use frequency-hopping spread spectrum technology to defeat the threat of jamming by the Axis powers. Although the US Navy did not adopt the technology until the 1960s, various spread-spectrum techniques are incorporated into Bluetooth technology and are similar to methods used in legacy versions of Wi-Fi. Recognition of the value of this work resulted in the pair being inducted into the National Inventors Hall of Fame in 2014. (wiki)
I don't date anybody significantly younger or older. When I was 22, I dated someone of 31 but I felt that was too significant and finished it. So since that, always around my own age.
The age gap difference is more related to the age difference than anything
Taking the 15-year age gap as an example, there is a huge difference between a 15-year old being with a 30-year old than with a 30-year old being with a 45-year old.
Get involved on clubs and societies. There is often one especially for mature students as well. Sport, as well as other activities, brings people together as they share a common bond and interest.
