Sometimes it's not the fault of the one that disappears. My computer crashed about 6 months ago and not being one to do backups very often I lost contact information and passwords to sites. I lost contact to many internet friends. I still haven't recoverd some of them.

Check under the bed. That's where I found my mind the last time I lost it. I had put it in a shoe box under the bed and forgot it.
