RE: The first move.

On the one hand girls get bombarded with messages on dating sites and he needs to stand out from this background flow of attention she receives. On the other hand what's attractive to a woman about a man making the first move - the display of confidence - doesn't count online. There is no courage or confidence in sending online messages - no points just for having a go.

I think who approaches who matters less than in the real world and it's the quality of your message/picture/profile which matters the most.

RE: Why are men so cruel?

Deeply unhappy within himself and thinking he can get away with mistreating you. The working class, especially the men, are ruined and riddled with head problems these days and it all comes from having no pride anymore. It wouldn't surprise me if he wants to kill himself or at least says that.

And I wouldn't say your relationship is the rule on a council estate, but it's getting there. Long-suffering girlfriends abound at the bottom and this switches to the long-suffering boyfriend as you go up the ladder.

RE: Why do men drool?

It's because we don't cry and all the water we save gets turned into drool.

RE: Is it ever okay?

I'm labouring the point which is conversation becomes interesting when you find a creative way of suggesting the truth which normally would not be acceptable. How do you get past the white lie? Jokes are the obvious way people do this, and the best jokes stem from generalisations and hidden truths. How to get a hot woman is to keep the mood fun whilst actually standing on dangerous territory.

RE: Is it ever okay?

The best conversation is unsafe conversation which skirts the boundaries of social acceptability by being broadly on the mark. And it matters who you talking to obviously. The insecure are much less tolerant in conversation and they get offended easier so reserve your gutsy gall for strong, attractive women and reserve your meek speak for safe bets who feel uncertain at the best of times.

RE: Who is better in hiding secrets?

In general I wouldn't trust a woman with a secret that sounds anything even remotely like juicy gossip. Can a woman resist a chance to seem momentarily interesting at the expense of another? I'm really not sure that she can.

However, if I ever did something really terrible like a murder it would be a woman close to me I'd tell. My Dad or My Brother would probably grass me to the filth, but my Mum, My Sisters or even past lovers would probably keep it quiet. In this case I would rely upon her emotion for me vastly outweighing her inherent sense of right & wrong.

RE: SYRIZA

Surprised in a way to see that's taken this long. Seven years since the crash and not a single stock exchange burnt to the ground and this long for a hard Left party to get in somewhere.

But in another way I'm not surprised. We were Keynes on steroids before the recession so I don't really see what the Left can now do(other than protectionism - pray you have a clever leader). And at least in Britain the Left has taken a kicking throughout this recession when the politics of the common man you'd expect to flourish during tough times. That is of course if the Left still stands for the common man and not just hipsters, gays and orcs.

RE: Is music a form of Art?

Music is art even when it isn't. Unlike architecture or painting which can be pure utility, music is always made to provoke an emotional reaction. And the music of the age always passes comment on the state of the age. This is why it's art.

The amount of tacky, manufactured pop music(which I think exists as more of a kind of anti-art - but still art)we have today says that we are a Democratic society of equality where the mob sets the tone. The music of today says that our art and character and society have lost all sense of pedigree and quality.

RE: who are/were all the clapping monkey/idiots in the state of the union address

Understanding why America's debt won't be paid by Americans and can be easily palmed off onto the rest of the world requires at least a measure of economic and financial literacy. The understanding also doesn't fit easily into the American Left/Right divide.

Republicans haters might change their mind on free money if more of them realised that foreigners will be paying for it, and Democrat slobs want free money even when the counter-argument was that it's stealing from American children never mind the children of foreigners. If they're willing to feast on the blood of their own children, figuratively speaking, they will definitely do it to their neighbours.

RE: who are/were all the clapping monkey/idiots in the state of the union address

In theory American can ride the wages of the almighty dollar for some time to come. Thanks to its currency monopoly the consequences of America's fiscal irresponsibility can be shared globally as no other govt on earth has this much power to spend the fortunes of other peoples. The irony again is that the Republican policy of fiscal conservatism is doing the right by foreigners, and it's the so-called progressive party of the Democrats who are the ones shafting the rest of the world.

RE: who are/were all the clapping monkey/idiots in the state of the union address

Money grows on trees in America because global currencies are pegged to the dollar. This means that Americans will not foot the bill for America's debts because the entire world will effectively do that for you. It's ironic that Obama is favoured abroad than he is at home when his feather-bedding of Americans is paid for by foreigners.

There is when it's the craggy building blocks of degeneracy total. Religion may be restrictive, but it's grounded in Human experience. reliong knows a lot more about people than you or I, and it's less wrong about Human nature than any of the enlightenment rationalists.

RE: RARE DISEASES

Science doesn't quite work like that. They tend the try and study what's most interesting, what will tell them something new, and not necessarily whichever condition is most common and of the greatest need.

Research into certain rare disorders has lead to the treatment of much more common ones, and on the flipside we give a lot to breast and prostate cancer charities - as each gender has taken one of these cancers and made it their thing - but progress is slow because it's an incorrect priority, it's studying in the wrong order.

RE: Charlie Hebdo

That, as well as geeks being geeks. Muslims need to consider just how trivial Western society is before taking offense to what comes out of the our press. Nothing means anything to us anymore, honour and respect are stuffy old-fashioned words like codpiece and sixpence.

You have to learn to ignore great swathes of a society as permissive as ours and just let the West carry on it with its regression session. The pendulum will swing back eventually whether it's under an Islamic conservatism or a Nationalist one, time will tell.

RE: What age do kids truly understand how life is for them ?

Hard times, danger and a powerful mind make a kid grow up sooner rather than later.

RE: Is people who take too many 'selfies' mentally ill?

If they were mentally ill they might make for interesting people. I'd say personality void and not personality disorder.
