I recycle most packaging, have a compost bin, waste very little in the way of food or water. What water I don't use I use for my plants, washing the car, etc. I walk rather than use my car whenever I am able. I don't use aerosols, I take unwanted clothes to the charity shop (thrift store). I maintain and encourage electronic communication at work rather than loads of print-outs. Video and tele-conferencing is preferable to travelling. I have only one light on at any given time, heating is on a minimum and I have only one overseas trip per year. I cook several meals in one go and freeze, plus I use the hob rather than the oven where possible.
My remarks were not just about THIS site though, it applies to just about all similar sites.... i.e. this "medium"?
Hope you have been having fun on the Forums, its a great way to "connect". I met my fella on here (though he didn't participate on the Forums). There have been meetings, engagements, marriages and even CS babies. There are no guarantees though, as with anything in life....
Trust me, travel is the best education ever! Its an experience, an adventure, travelling to different countries. I have learned the most whilst experiencing diverse cultures and better than any academic education......
I think its sound advice. There can be occasions when one has been on their own for a long period of time and someone shows an interest that judgement otherwise sound can be a little clouded? It is a good idea to take a step back and assess just why you are receptive to a person's attentions. In RL you may be more "selective" and yet with a medium such as this, what may be seen as a "connection" may harbour other motives/agendas?
You do have to have your wits about you. There are some very genuine people indeed but then there are those less so. Sift the wheat from the chaff first? A necessary evil but it saves a lot of heartache.....
Yes, to a degree. My fella is not thousands of miles away, but he is 252 miles away. It is difficult but we are looking at him re-locating to me as soon as possible.
I think it can work to a degree but, as lovely as the fairytale "love conquers all" is, one has to be realistic. I think its unsustainable for a prolonged period of time, sadly. If one or the other is not able to or not prepared to re-locate, I believe it has a life-span.....
RE: Strange or unusual things about where you live.
Yes, I know. I used to live in the Rockies, BC. Ahhhh, what fond memories I have. I love Canada, I miss it!
