Overlooking the Bay of Naples on The Amalfi Coast at dusk, a gentle breeze following a hot day and a very, very chilled glass of Bianco di Custoza!!
Failing that, amongst the bougainvillea at The Episkopi Tavern or The Bunch of Grapes in Cyprus quaffing a delightful little Palomino....
OR.... on the top deck of a Nile boat, watching the palms and the camels silhouetted against a burning orange twilight sky with a cocktail... (or two?!)
Yes, of course I can. I have had many confidences relayed to me, both here and in RL. If it is someone's personal business, it is not my place to pass that on, that is THEIR prerogative. What has been confided to me, stays with me.
I don't have many "secrets" as such. I have, like anyone, personal details I don't wish to be common knowledge (and, in fact, isn't the least bit relevant?) and I am selective as to who I divulge that to. There are a few that have proved to be very special to me and only those are trusted with that.
No, none of them are "dark" per se. For me, discretion is probably the way I would term it, rather than a "secret"..... Often, discretion is the better part of valour, no?! Big difference.....
I have, however, been let down by people I believed were friends, yes. They only let me down the once...... then its adios!!
Dave Carroll, a US country singer, was taking a trip from Chicago with United Airlines who mistreated and badly damaged his guitar. After many fruitless attempts at recompense from the airline, he wrote this song.....
It has had almost 4 million hits on the Internet and has, allegedly wiped millions off United Airlines stocks and shares!
Good on him for standing up to a large corporation insisting on treating their customers so dismissively.
"The singer and songwriter composed the country-western-style song “United Breaks Guitars” and posted an accompanying video on YouTube after alleging the airline damaged his treasured Taylor acoustic at Chicago’s O’Hare airport last year.
It has already notched up 3.7 million hits on the video-sharing site and has become a public relations disaster for the airline, which had refused to pay his repair costs but offered compensation only after the song became an online phenomenon.
He told BBC Radio Four's Today programme he had composed three songs and that the second, which recounts his fruitless dealings with the airline's Customer Relations department, would be online soon.
After months of trying to get the airline to pay compensation and help repair the $3,000-instrument (£1,800), Mr Carroll changed tack.
“I asked myself ‘if Michael Moore was a singer-songwriter, what would he do?’ and I gathered my tools together and said I would write three songs about the airline, make videos about the airline and share them with the world," he said.
“I said my goal was to get one million hits, perhaps over a year with the three songs, but today we’re already at 3.7 million.”
After publishing the video online he was contacted by the airline offering to pay for the cost of repairing his guitar and flight vouchers worth $1,200 (£700) but he told the airline to donate the sum to charity instead. "They definitely want this to go away," he said.
As well as providing much satisfaction, the Mr Carroll's idea has also earned him some money in royalty payments as the first song is currently the 20th best-selling track on the Itunes music sale website in Canada. "
I don't believe its always prudent to dismiss some kind of forgiveness outright. I feel it depends on the relationship that we both have which will incorporate the length of time, strength of love and feeling, and even some more pragmatic aspects too. It makes a difference whether its a prolonged affair or a momentary lapse. We are all simply human and I cannot expect a person to be ALL THINGS to me, beyond human endurance.... noone is a super-human!
Sometimes, sticking to one's principles and giving up an otherwise good relationship would be cutting off one's nose to spite one's face....
That said, that doesn't constitute an excuse to betray regardless, with the belief of being forgiven.....
At this point in time, if I was betrayed, it would be over!!
So.... we've established he's an idiot, it would seem?!
I have re-written my profile many times, each time adding what I thought was extra clarity for the very reason that there was no mis-understanding. Not sure what else I can do?
Thanks for all your input, I truly appreciate it....
RE: 100 things I need to do before I die
Can I choose just ONE thing but do it 100 times?!
