No, sorry, Sweetheart.... my German is extremely limited. I have picked up snippets of several languages. Your English is MUCH better than my German so you have nothing to worry about. And, besides, there was a typo in my post and I am English...!! An oversight on my part.
I am not a teacher.... heaven forbid!!! I simply wouldn't have the patience, though its an admirable profession. Where would any of us be without teachers, eh?
Its true about accommodating the recipient though.... do you think any of the famous/best selling authors simply put pen to paper about what they want to say? No.... its about the recipient. And whereby, here on the Forums, I don't believe any of us are emminent authors (I may be wrong?), we still need to consider what is open to interpretation? I am sure a lot less arguments would occur....??!!
You have made it clear that English is your second language but also that you TRY!! That's what its all about....
There is a misconception that all it takes on the Forums is to put you point across, regardless of how it appears and that the writer is the most important in this equation.... not so! Whenever we write anything, we need to bear in mind the recipient (whether solo or en masse) and accommodate their perception of what we are saying.
There's no point in writing anything otherwise. It will result in misconception and misinterpretation and, in turn, defeats the whole object of what you are trying to say. Therefore, it does neither the writer nor the recipient any favours whatsoever...??!
I appreciate word-blindness, dyslexia, perhaps even lack of education, and the like.... noone is to blame. If its laziness though... no excuse, more effort is needed.
Don't worry, love... whether English, Americanese or any other language, I am sure we can accommodate.
Good thread!!
Blumen gerade fur sie (flowers just for you) ---->
I don't think I am aware of you saying anything to offend others?
Don't feel, though, that you have to keep your opinions to yourself. There are those that seem to lack an ability to modify their behaviour on the Forums.
Its a fine balance, I grant you, but it is possible to articulate oneself without denying being true to oneself.
If by the "negative people", you mean those that lack civility, then you don't want to inter-act with them anyway, surely?!
Yes, there are many that have made good friends here on CS. I certainly have and continue to keep in touch off-site.
Just as with RL, we cannot possibly hope to get on and see eye-to-eye ALL the time, though there are those who are intent on just causing mayhem, yes.
The immediate perception you get is clearly not going to be the correct one, it takes time and much inter-action to get a real feel for the personalities here.
I hope you take the time to get to know others and enjoy the Forums, my friend.
BTW.... would you kindly refrain from using ALL CAPS? Thanks.
I do try to respond to everyone, though I fail miserably sometimes. Some members have so many mails and flowers they simply can't get back to everyone.....
Its nice to think that everyone would have the courtesy but I guess not all members feel the necessity. Its just one of those things.
If you feel it rude, bad manners.... would you want to associate with that person anyway?
I don't have many demands, though RESPECT would be crucial. Not a demand though.... if I have to demand it, its not gonna be much of a relationship, is it?!
I think people have become accustomed to treating others rather shabbily these days.... disposable/throw away society. And, sadly, that attitude has overflowed into treatment of others and upon relationships, not just the material things any more....
But.... "on my terms"?? No, I believe I am flexible and accommodating towards others's wishes and feelings. But, by no means perfect... always room for improvement, eh?!
To the OP : Perhaps you have been offline for some time? If a member sees that you are off line for more than, say, a couple of weeks they may think there is no point in sending you mail or flowers as it will be some time before you check them out?
Ahhh.... Inspector Clooooooseau!! Good to see ya Joel. I am feeling rather proud of myself. Been to the gym and I have lost over a stone, only another 5 pounds to my target!!
Thanks for those... what a hoot!! I particularly liked No, 8, being a Wile E. Coyote fan. If he wins his lawsuit against Acme he WILL be able to buy dinner, and some....
Yes, its true. He has actually taken out a lawsuit against the company, check it out!
I misconstrued what you were saying, clearly. Its not something I fully understand, no, but its simply one of the aspects of human nature, I think you'll find?
Whilst differing personalities is one thing, and perfectly acceptable, there are those that seem unable to modify their behaviour on the Forums accordingly. Some are unable to articulate themselves in any other way. Best thing is to ignore them really and not give in to their attention-seeking?
No, I am NOT a Snooper (whatever one of those is?)... I am here for the Forums and I am perfectly overt about it. I have friends on here I enjoy inter-acting with.....
RE: Spelling....
Too sharp!!
