RE: Love and hate

Thank you for asking. Cult members display excessive/unhealthy devotion to a leader or object whom/which they believe can "save" them.

Religious folks look to a hypothetical unseen omniscient being to save them (usually after death, from a possible encounter with/in a future hell). They often have priests who act as advanced guides or intermediaries between the unseen omniscient being and the aspirants.

Spirituality knows that the only salvation is the one that is present now. It is the only one that can end suffering now--and now is all there is--ever. Dead people aren't suffering. Only the people yet in world are suffering. Spirituality teaches how to escape that suffering in the NOW.

These are all just my opinions and my experience. I do not suffer, though I am in physical pain. I have not suffered since 2007--and it was a spiritual insight that freed me. Hence, my emphasis on the spiritual/real and present salvation correlation.

Religions and cults are externally directed. Spirituality is internal and is a coming into truthful and fearlessly candid inner dialogue with the higher self -- your/our constant companion and guide who always quietly encourages us to "Be courageous and do the right thing". Without this loving, trusting and honest relationship with the higher self, religion devolves into voodoo: a belief that rituals themselves can "save".

The Christians who worry they are not very good at being Christian are in inner dialogue with the higher self. Which is why they worry. If you're honest with yourself, one has to admit where one is not doing their best and then address those failing in order to enjoy the inner peace that is the point of spiritual practice.) The ones who are not worried (and not very good at being Christian) are ignorantly practicing voodoo. Faith without deeds may seem empty, but deeds without the inner dialogue (with the higher self that prompts the deeds) are absolutely venal: Useless--like praying the rosary without paying any attention to the words you are uttering.

Again, all of this is just my opinion and everyone else opinion is as valid for them as mine is for me. So far as I can see, mine works better. I'm not suffering, and (mostly) they are.

RE: Love and hate

Only the stuff we find out about, to be fair. They deserve a lot more blame than they get.

Cult.

Cult.

Cult.

Ah, if by Christianity you mean the actual teachings of the Christ, then Christianity is spiritual and there are several "religions" that are based on Christian spiritual principles.

In my experience, there are two kinds of Christians: Those who aren't very good at it, and those who worry they are not good at it. It's the same with people: Two kinds--those of low character--and those who judge themSELVES harshly. (Your mileage may vary.)

The last decade has destroyed all of my "religious leanings". I have determined that religions are voodoo: They posit that people can be "saved" (from what is unspecified) by engaging in certain rituals. While rituals can be used to raise one's passion and chi resonance, (and that was their primitive purpose) in order to project coherently that energy towards manifesting an outcome, most folk end up relying on the ritual itself for salvation and do not understand, in the first place, what salvation is. Salvation is deliverance from suffering--and, of it, the dead have no need. Santé and Happy Saturday. wine

RE: Don´t t Share what you are listening....

Thrilling! I love the strings!

RE: How's your week-end going?

Yes, we behave as if the world were ours alone to burn. Humanity's arrogance and temporal myopia may be our undoing. Personally, I think a lot of it is because of our short life spans. People don't want to think about the cumulative impact of our day-to-day insults to the environment because they won't be alive to deal with the consequences. Consequences are for the following generations--and other species. It hurts to see so much beauty being destroyed. That's why I so appreciate smart people who know how to make others laugh. I love humor that makes me laugh and think at the same time--and you've always done that for everyone here. The world suffers from too much gravity. We need levity. Stay safe, smart and funny. The world needs your perspective and laughter.

RE: has anyone here have corona virus?

Dedovix you're still here. Holy Moses.

Yes, I may have already had Corona Virus 19 but, until we are able to test here for the titre in the blood, I can't know. I had all the symptoms--twice now. Got pretty sick back in early January and again, not so sick, about 2 weeks ago. I've been in self quarantine ever since.

RE: Myers Briggs personality types.

I use Myers Briggs personality types for hiring process. <SNIP> (Hope that didn't hurt.)...doing the test in the net brings a problem that is most of the people will change the answer to fit some stereotype they believe or want to fit, by answering the questions differently...

Really. "MOST (of the) people"?

To what end? I'm an idealist, so, this makes no sense to me. Moreover, most people want to know themselves and, in private, will take the test in such a way as to get as much true insight as possible. OTOH, when a job might be on the line, one might expect people to dissemble in order to effect the personal veneer you describe. Maybe you are projecting a little. It happens. IN fact the realization of how much projection goes on is critical to actually "getting the clue" you may suspect others lack.

Just sayin... Timed test or not, a bright enough person knows how to skew results and can do so expeditiously. A REALLY bright person would realize the futility in doing so. But then maybe I'm just being and INFP "Idealist" there. No charge for the perspective and probably worth what you paid for it as well. grin

And yet it is said that I "think too much". I am convinced few others could survive the din of my eternal internal combustion. Hence the introversion: I don't want to singe those whom I would to love.

'Tis the thoughts that generate all that feeling, and I am singleminded. Very hard to provoke, but implosive and very quiet when it happens. The profile says I am adept with language and in the company of quite a few excellent writers. (I'll take that. Let's get back to bearing fruit. BACK to the word smithing!)

PS: I was down with a bug last week and stayed in bed with Eddie Izzard watching his show "Stripped" (How could I resist?) in French at the Cigal (Sp? Who give a phook!) in Paris. Watching comedy in another language is a great way to learn. It tickles two ways every time you understand. I learned more in 3 days than I did in 2 semesters of French. Highly recommended.

Introvert 33% Moderate preference to introversion.
Intuitive 62% Distinct preference of intuition over sensing.
Feeling 62% Distinct preference of feeling over thinking.
Perceptive 11% Slight preference of perceiving over judging.

Seems to be working just fine. I'm 55 and well and stronger daily, alive and still ascending and learning. Not everyone peaks at 35. In general, I think Jung inspired by a Daemon. I'm just possessed (and inspired) by one. grin

RE: ... Is the new generation becoming a generation of morons with a 'learned helplesness' and inflated

Yep. Daddy did the work on the cars mostly. He let me help some but he always insisted I be there even though he didn't need my help, and he'd say "Watch what I do and watch closely." When I asked why he wanted me there is I couldn't really help he'd say "I won't always be around to do it for you, Darlin'." He wasn't well educated, but he was a brilliant man, and a stickler for honor. I was very blessed.

RE: what is the meaning of life

You are, of course, correct, Popey. I am intense. (Sorry. I cannae help it, lad. It's the way He made me.)

But I have heard that I think too much. "Think too much for whom," I always wonder. If you realize I say/write only a very small percentage of what passes through this very very active mind, you will likely cringe at the implications. Imagine for a moment what it's like to be me: It's an intricate and beautiful world and cosmos and I LOVE IT ALL. grin bouquet (Sorry to be such a test.) There is ONE Life and it is in and the source of all things. That Life is (IMO) Self aware and is what some refer to as "God".

RE: what is the meaning of life

Pain causes the pained to create more pain. We are what we see, and we tend to create more of it as a way of validating our own perceptions and the "self" with which we have come to "identify". People get so ego invested in their own version of "reality". It is why we are so thick.

Nokundi, you/we are, actually, the space, or awareness, in which all of this but seems to occur. There is NO world "out there". There is no separate you and no separate me. There is but One Life and, through it, we are all One.
