Stevie is dead. I however, am alive, despite all of the exaggerated rumors to the contrary...
Cheap labor and people grateful for entitlements they don't deserve make this a win-win for everyone except legal citizens. The terrorists aren't in the middle east. They're running our government.
Obama's Immigration Reform = the New Tammany Hall.
"...The Society expanded its political control even further by earning the loyalty of the city's ever-expanding immigrant community, which functioned as a base of political capital." -
As above, so below. Hermetic doctrine. Whereby, what we visualize, enact in miniature within a ritual, and direct energy into with the desire for literal manifestation, becomes that manifestation via the medium and directive force of our will.
Zero-point energy is merely the simultaneous nature of cause and effect. All effective use of perceptive alterations of reality are dependent and this fact. Every Hermetic act is based on
1. Will 2. Desire 3. Ritual
These three things combine to form the basis of any magical thinking.
It received an 8% meta-score from Rotten Tomatoes (later improved to 10% overall) where the film was summarized as "Full of patronizing, poorly structured arguments, Expelled is a cynical political stunt in the guise of a documentary."
The New York Times described it as "a conspiracy-theory rant masquerading as investigative inquiry" and "an unprincipled propaganda piece that insults believers and nonbelievers alike."
What part of these reviews makes it NOT like Columbine or 911?
I have seen parts of it. I've also seen Bowling for Columbine and Fahrenheit 911. Similar documentary styles.
The parts I have seen recall the Intelligent Design debate and the hinge that got it thrown out of court. Falsifiable evidence. Submission of a peer-reviewed thesis.
In other words: Scientific method, not cargo-cult science. These "scientists" have been "expelled" because they practice faith and call it "evidence".
Mysticism does not qualify as rational or intelligent.
And that's why I rarely come to these threads anymore.
"I prefer rationalism to atheism. The question of God and other objects-of-faith are outside reason and play no part in rationalism, thus you don't have to waste your time in either attacking or defending." — Isaac Asimov
Interesting point you make about scientific method.

Don't you believe in flying saucers, they ask me? Don't you believe in telepathy? — in ancient astronauts? — in the Bermuda triangle? — in life after death? No, I reply. No, no, no, no, and again no. One person recently, goaded into desperation by the litany of unrelieved negation, burst out "Don't you believe in anything?" "Yes", I said. "I believe in evidence. I believe in observation, measurement, and reasoning, confirmed by independent observers. I'll believe anything, no matter how wild and ridiculous, if there is evidence for it. The wilder and more ridiculous something is, however, the firmer and more solid the evidence will have to be." — Isaac Asimov
I could lie and say I believe in Santa Claus, the Tooth Fairy, and Grey Alien Invaders.
Who wants to be with a liar however?
I don't think Christians or Atheists have much tolerance for falsehood. So if I'm honest about what I believe, and allow you the same latitude for honesty without judgment, how is that being unequally yoked?
My commitment is to honesty; emotional, scientific, and spiritual. If a Christian can't love me, than I would say, fine, but its not because I'm unlovable.
I'm just not your cup of tea.
If I'm not your cup of tea, than I guess that's too bad for me...
Or its a good thing. Somebody's not being honest with themselves, and it isn't me.

Some day I want to take a trip to Seattle and see the Ring Cycle. They don't have the stage for such huge productions here in Portland. Everything with Wagner is twice as big, and twice as long.
How can any "self"-respecting person maintain that self-respect and live the lie of saying they love someone and not respect them?
Narcissists think of their partner in terms of how they reflect on themselves. They are not considered individuals in their own right, merely extensions of the narcissist's ego. When reality doesn't mirror their personality disorder, well, that's when things usually get ugly.
I think this is why divorce rates have risen in the last few decades. Rational self-interest recognizes that in order to get something, you have to give something. TANSTAAFL.
Unfortunately, a lot of people think they can get something for nothing. Life doesn't work that way. Damn you, Disney!
Bottlenose dolphins are capable of creating sonic booms that exceed 230 decibels, which stuns the fish.
I wonder if Flipper does catfish?
The theory, supported by recent fossil finds in the foothills of the Himalayas, is that about 53.5 million years ago, whales were amphibious. They originated as land mammals, and gradually ventured into the water in search of food. They fed on fresh and saltwater fish. Eventually, they lost their legs and nostrils, and became the creatures we know today.
I don't know any whales do you?
The humpback whales males produce, in frequencies between 20 and 9,000 Hz, songs that are the longest and the most varied in all the animal kingdom, with repeated sequences about 15 minutes long.
And another phenomenon that interests me is synchronicity as some of Jung's writings elaborate on. I read a book recently that points to some interesting things in physics that correlate with the phenomenon, and I'm beginning to speculate into some fictional ideas as I write this...hmmm...
String-theory that has now evolved into M-theory. Again, the math is staggering, but that doesn't mean the elements of simultaneous cause and effect can't explain the apparently supernatural.
Ghosts and spirits are just energy. Interesting that they call these things paranormal when its just a normal that we don't understand yet.
I grieve with thee...nevertheless, I shall shout at the moon to no avail, and at the rain And storm shall rail, Bye and bye this rage Shall die and therein Shall the answer lie. All things occur at Their appointed time Like this rhyme Into my my mind.
All I'm saying is you can only lead by example. Personal responsibility requires a choice that you can't make for others. Leading by example means LEADING by example. Be the face of Christ for people. That's all you can do. If other people ruin things its no reflection on you other than the example you provide. Reflect on what that might be at all times.
There's no such thing as random in a world so full of inter-connections. Why are things so apparently complicated then? One simple-rule creates such a vast web of inter-relations that are simultaneous, and yet adhere to one strict rule.
Cause and effect.
Many things that are apparently mystic really aren't if you take into account the necessity for ten-dimensional three-body wave equations that get you from point A to, well...point A with an expanded reference.
Yeah, things are really like that. Crazy, twisted, and surreal. Infinity is exactly that. A very distinct large/small, ten-dimensional/one-dimensional demented Moebius Strip.
Good luck to you all. Your going to need it walking all those spider-webs.
In my particular faith it's called the Buddhism of Sowing, rather than reaping. Thus is shown in the Parable of Bodhisattva never Disparaging. Despite the ill treatment he received from the four kinds of believers--monks, nuns, laymen and laywomen--he showed reverence for every person he met and resolved to help them discover their Buddha nature. “I would never dare disparage you, for you are all certain to attain Buddhahood!” (The Lotus Sutra, trans. Burton Watson, p. 267).
My favorite actor is Archibald Leach aka Cary Grant.
My favorite actress is Maureen O'Hara.
I think the older movies have a quality of acting in them that will never be seen again. Today's stars leave me cold for the most-part. I have a few favorites like DeNiro and Pacino, but I still think Cary Grant described a range from dramatic to comedic that will rarely be seen again.
