I was raised a Catholic. I abandoned Christian doctrines in my teens for the rational atheism that accompanies scientific method. I later found myself drawn to the meditative and spiritual doctrines of Buddhism after certain events in my life taught me that reality has much more to it than what is available to our five senses.
Man created God in his own image. Anything to avoid responsibility. Put the blame on something exterior and then you can say its "God's will" and avoid having to actually make any effort to change yourself, and thus the world you live in. That's my take.
What is inherent wisdom when one is infinite? What is acquired wisdom when we travel eternity road? There is no good Buddha, there is no bad Buddha, there is only the Buddha. Labels detract from the essence of wisdom, which is to know.
And this is why I reject any religion or philosophy that substitutes blind faith for acquired wisdom. The gnostics were ruthlessly persecuted by the Church because they didn't accept that only through the Church could we hear God's word. If you listen closely, God speaks in uni-verse, and its definitely not in Latin!
Fundamentally wrong. Science has proven an observer-component necessity to create anything beyond pure-waveform. Thus there is no truly objective reality. Everything that is "real" is a participatory aspect of a collective human consciousness.
Wrong. They are not only in contact with it, they are a fundamental component to the reality they perceive.
Wrong. Everything is subject to Heisenberg's uncertainty, and thus everything is subject to a degree of confirmation bias.
I agree. The fact that I haven't dealt with banks or credit in 15 years means I shouldn't have to bail out AIG. OH, but they insure the Senate, so...I guess I'll have to...
Meritocracy or kleptocracy? You decide. When incompetence is rewarded, incompetence becomes status-quo. Tell these bloody bureaucrats enough is enough. Stop giving million dollar bonuses to idiots and start using it to attract real talent.
Shame is indoctrination. Guilt is a social factor. How many times were you told to eat your vegetables because of the starving children in Africa? Our childhoods' are filled with broken analogies and still we're expected to react rationally to a life we are told is a fairy tale but is more like a "Grim" fairy tale.
True revolution must first be successful in the hearts of humans before any real change in the program will be achieved.
The three poisons in Buddhism are greed, anger, and stupidity. Until we purify our hearts of these poisons, the dream for some will continue to be a nightmare for the rest.
I find it extremely ironic that a philosopher who advocated individual thought and rational self-interest would be so mindlessly parroted by people who think that they're thinking, but in reality, they're mindlessly chanting the mantras of their guru.
Those are all just labels. The final analysis is the poor are only poor until they usurp the power and privilege of the rich, and then, they fight like hell to keep their new position.
Give me an honest man, and I'll show you a martyr on the altar of self-interest. You can't cheat an honest man, but you can make him disappear from the history books.
The new American Revolution will no doubt go the route as any other revolution in human history. Good on paper, bad in practice. It changes nothing to change the faces and not change the nature behind the faces.
Idealists start revolutions. Realists and opportunists hijack them for their own personal gain.
"All animals are equal, but pigs are more equal." - Animal Farm.
The irony is if it bored me I wouldn't post at all. Consumer confidence has definitely dropped with that comment, and now the FED will have to lower interest rates even more to keep the thread going.
RE: Destiny of a Relationship
These are the days of our non-lives. It's like a soap opera, but in text.
