RE: Destiny of a Relationship

These are the days of our non-lives. It's like a soap opera, but in text. roll eyes cool

RE: This is not a candy store, guys.

Hi LL. wave

Women are not pez dispensers. I find the metaphor hilarious. I had a Racquel Welsch pez dispenser when I was a kid. Don't mind me. grin cool

RE: Apostasy

I was raised a Catholic. I abandoned Christian doctrines in my teens for the rational atheism that accompanies scientific method. I later found myself drawn to the meditative and spiritual doctrines of Buddhism after certain events in my life taught me that reality has much more to it than what is available to our five senses.

Man created God in his own image. Anything to avoid responsibility. Put the blame on something exterior and then you can say its "God's will" and avoid having to actually make any effort to change yourself, and thus the world you live in. That's my take.cool

RE: Have you been banned from CS?

If I had been banned from CS, how could I answer this question? Have my dog sign up and give him a teleprompter? dunno

RE: Is organized religion based entirely on fear?

What is inherent wisdom when one is infinite? What is acquired wisdom when we travel eternity road? There is no good Buddha, there is no bad Buddha, there is only the Buddha. Labels detract from the essence of wisdom, which is to know.

RE: Is organized religion based entirely on fear?

And this is why I reject any religion or philosophy that substitutes blind faith for acquired wisdom. The gnostics were ruthlessly persecuted by the Church because they didn't accept that only through the Church could we hear God's word. If you listen closely, God speaks in uni-verse, and its definitely not in Latin!

RE: Is organized religion based entirely on fear?

Human organizations suffer one universal problem. The "human" part of it. Until we change human nature, anything human will be subject to that nature. cool

RE: I'm an old newbie

Hey Meds. wave

Glad to see you back. grin hug

RE: Has anyone ever tried

Windows 7 is Vista with an XP kernel. Way less of a resource hog than Vista, but it has the same layout as Vista.

To each his own, but if you want a GUI instead of a Linux command prompt and esoteric command lines, you're stuck with SOME version of Windows.

RE: Do cherish your life

Yep. Life is my number one favorite cereal. Mikey likes it! and so does Bodhi. grin cool

RE: Im not happy

I'm not happy. My chewing gum lost its flavor on the bedpost overnight. very mad

grin

RE: How to get a small fortune?

You sound like a socialist. mumbling

laugh cheers

RE: AYN RAND

Fundamentally wrong. Science has proven an observer-component necessity to create anything beyond pure-waveform. Thus there is no truly objective reality. Everything that is "real" is a participatory aspect of a collective human consciousness.

Wrong. They are not only in contact with it, they are a fundamental component to the reality they perceive.

Wrong. Everything is subject to Heisenberg's uncertainty, and thus everything is subject to a degree of confirmation bias.

RE: Is the current economic crisis real or just manufactured...???

I agree. The fact that I haven't dealt with banks or credit in 15 years means I shouldn't have to bail out AIG. OH, but they insure the Senate, so...I guess I'll have to...sigh help mumbling

RE: You are who you attract?

I'm a devil but I attract angel

dunno ?

The Invisible Hand - Tied?

Meritocracy or kleptocracy? You decide. When incompetence is rewarded, incompetence becomes status-quo. Tell these bloody bureaucrats enough is enough. Stop giving million dollar bonuses to idiots and start using it to attract real talent. very mad very mad frustrated

RE: AYN RAND

Shame is indoctrination. Guilt is a social factor. How many times were you told to eat your vegetables because of the starving children in Africa? Our childhoods' are filled with broken analogies and still we're expected to react rationally to a life we are told is a fairy tale but is more like a "Grim" fairy tale.

Atlas Shrugged

Shrug the world, and watch the looters drown. cool

RE: A new American Revolution

True revolution must first be successful in the hearts of humans before any real change in the program will be achieved.

The three poisons in Buddhism are greed, anger, and stupidity. Until we purify our hearts of these poisons, the dream for some will continue to be a nightmare for the rest.

RE: AYN RAND

I find it extremely ironic that a philosopher who advocated individual thought and rational self-interest would be so mindlessly parroted by people who think that they're thinking, but in reality, they're mindlessly chanting the mantras of their guru.

If you meet the Buddha in a book, burn it. roll eyes doh

RE: A new American Revolution

Those are all just labels. The final analysis is the poor are only poor until they usurp the power and privilege of the rich, and then, they fight like hell to keep their new position.

Give me an honest man, and I'll show you a martyr on the altar of self-interest. You can't cheat an honest man, but you can make him disappear from the history books.

RE: What Phobia has a grip on you. . . . an why!

I fear change. In fact, pennies put me in a manic state of fight or flight. uh oh

laugh grin

RE: A new American Revolution

The new American Revolution will no doubt go the route as any other revolution in human history. Good on paper, bad in practice. It changes nothing to change the faces and not change the nature behind the faces.

Idealists start revolutions. Realists and opportunists hijack them for their own personal gain.

"All animals are equal, but pigs are more equal." - Animal Farm.

RE: hitm,an list

I'm not worth $5 alive, why would I be worth $50,000 dead? Someone buy insurance I don't know about? uh oh

rolling on the floor laughing

RE: Lack of interest on CS

The irony is if it bored me I wouldn't post at all. Consumer confidence has definitely dropped with that comment, and now the FED will have to lower interest rates even more to keep the thread going.

RE: Lack of interest on CS

I'm all sheep-shape now then. grin cool

RE: Lack of interest on CS

Banks are now closed due to an underwhelming interest level. grin cool
