RE: Israel's other silent war.

I am explaining why Israel does not have apartheid unlike the british controlled South Africa or Zimbabwe. I am not blasting off. And you are asking why did I not respond in your thread is that not what I am doing right now?

RE: Israel's other silent war.

I am proud of my country nothing wrong with that, I am not the one keeping you or others from posting positive news from your home countries, that is your own problem. Do you even know what apartheid is? that is an evil system created by your own people the british in South Africa and Zimbabwe, in those countries they were keeping first class rigths to their own british people while the blacks were not even treated like animals but worse, they did not even have the right to be in the same beach as white people! let alone having voting and welfare rights. You are mocking the black victims of real apartheid! there are one million arabs living in Israel they have Israeli citizenship, they have eqaul voting rigths in our elections they even have ministers and army leaders! they have equal acess to health care, housing, education, freedoom of religion, did the blacks in south africa have that? if life in Israel is so terrible how come the one million arabs with legal papers do not move to the 22 arab countries? can you answer me that question? because Israel offers the best human quality for arabs! and the arabs themself know that!

Israeli scientists May Help The Blind See!!!!!

it's wonderful news for those who suffer from being blind..... what has changed with the Israeli bionic eyes is :

" Until now, attempts to restore sight through bionic means have been limited to a technology which requires invasive surgery and is not helpful to those who have been blind from birth. This is the first technology that bypasses the retina entirely and is not dependent on the person’s visual portions of the brain, areas that develop only in sighted people during childhood. This new technology also offers improved visual resolution: currently available bionic eyes only allow the blind person to discern between light and dark, and are not enough to grant independence."

Israeli scientists May Help The Blind See!!!!!

Israeli scientists have developed a bionic eye that may be able to help those born blind to see. A Bar Ilan University team developed the eye, which consists of a bionic contact lens which collects information transmitted by a tiny camera, then converts that information into electrical impulses. The impulses are sent through the cornea to the sensory areas of the brain, where they are interpreted as visual stimuli. Although it has not been approved yet for human trials, scientists are currently testing its feasibility on seeing people, using a model of the bionic eye that transmits information to the finger instead.

Until now, attempts to restore sight through bionic means have been limited to a technology which requires invasive surgery and is not helpful to those who have been blind from birth. This is the first technology that bypasses the retina entirely and is not dependent on the person’s visual portions of the brain, areas that develop only in sighted people during childhood. This new technology also offers improved visual resolution: currently available bionic eyes only allow the blind person to discern between light and dark, and are not enough to grant independence.

The new bionic eye is designed to capture information using a tiny camera mounted externally, such as on a user’s glasses. The information captured is compressed and transmitted wirelessly to the contact lens in the user’s eye. The lens is covered in tiny electrodes which stimulate the cornea, the eye’s richest nerve centre. Prof. Zeev Zalevsky, head of Electrical Engineering and Nanophotonics at Bar-Ilan University, likens the project to “a Braille lens that enables blind people to see in a way similar to Braille reading.”

Currently, the new system is able to produce 100 pixels worth of information, significantly less than the 1 million pixels the human eye normally sees, but also much more than the sixteen pixels visible in the existing bionic eyes. The new bionic eye enables spatial differentiation in black, white and grey, but Zalevsky says the plan is to develop the technology to the point where it can handle higher resolutions and possible colour in the future.

An article about the technology was recently published in Optical Engineering and the project will be exhibited in the Israel BioMed conference in June.

Israeli software sends robot to Mars

Hey wine

Yeah Israel is a great country and Israelis are amazing people. I am more than ever proud of my country and it's endless achievements and pogress. Just 65 years ago we were living in the desert and starving, today our best brains are able to send robots to Mars and fight aganist Cancer. Israel is reaching it's goals and nothing can stop it. If someone wants something in life and work enough they can get it, Israel is showing it everyday. When my Grandparents came to this great country 60 years ago there were no public schools they had to build it by themself with their owm hands and money. Today our universities are among the best in the world.

Israeli software sends robot to Mars

Siemens’ center for ‘product lifecycle management software’ in Israel played a key role in ensuring the Curiosity rover can do its job on Mars

Israel has yet to land an astronaut on the moon, but as of this week, there is an Israeli “flag” on Mars — because Israeli software was crucial to the development of the Curiosity rover now exploring the possibility of life on the red planet.

Curiosity is the main feature of the $2.5 billion Mars Science Lab mission. The technology and sophisticated parts that make up the rover are mainly made by American computer and aerospace companies such as Intel, Lockheed Martin, and Alliant Techsystems. But the software that allowed NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratories (JPL) to accurately model how the Mars vehicle would perform tens of millions of miles from earth is “blue and white,” developed at the Israeli branch of Siemens PLM.

No one has ever been to Mars, of course, and there have been precious few successful space missions to the planet, which have provided all the information available to date. The rover’s mission is to constantly send photos and data back to earth for at least two years.

Enter PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) software, used by companies to determine how their designs and products will stand up under real-life conditions. PLM software is used in just about every manufacturing industry, and Siemens, one of the biggest providers of the software, does all its PLM work in Israel, said the company’s Israeli CEO Zvi Feuer. “We develop PLM solutions for many of the largest companies around the world. In Israel, for example, with our partner Mckit Software, we develop PLM solutions for companies like Elta, Israel Aircraft Industries, the IDF, Keter Plastics, and many more.”

One of Siemens’ international customers is JPL, which is running the Mars Science Lab mission. Siemens PLM Israel helped develop the system needed to figure out how to ensure that Curiosity could stand up to the harsh conditions on Mars and continue operating in the face of the wind and dust, which appear to be a major feature of the martian atmosphere.

“The manufacturing process generally starts with a CAD (computer-aided design) rendering of the product –- in this case the rover – and usually goes on to schematics and the building of a model,” Feuer told the Times of Israel. The model is tested using PLM software, and adjustments are made in the design and manufacturing process to ensure the best results. In this case, because of the prohibitive cost of building numerous models, JPL initially developed computer simulations for testing with PLM software, and only later built an actual model.

The PLM software checked out all relevant systems on the Curiosity, said Feuer, including the robotic arm that digs, scoops, tests, and stores samples of soil and rocks. “We’ve all seen videos of this arm, and it is very complicated, with many moving parts. The arm shows just how important PLM software is –- the design was very complicated and the action is very sophisticated, meaning there is a greater chance of glitches. But we cannot afford any problems, because that would be the end of the rover. You have to check anything and everything that could go wrong.”

Besides the mechanics of the robot arm, added Feuer, his company’s software examined other aspects of the Curiosity, including what weight it could lift, under what environmental conditions it could continue to function, and how its action algorithms work with the manufactured parts.

After months of hard work, Feuer and the team at Siemens PLM Israel were ecstatic to see the first exciting images of Curiosity from Mars this week. “This is one of mankind’s greatest accomplishments,” said Feuer, “and we are honored to have had a part in it.”

RE: Typhoon Haiyan hits central Philippines, unknown number of lost lives

Israel sends aid teams to devastated Philippines

Israeli medical professionals to provide critical health interventions in the typhoon affected region; Home Front Command to survey area.

In the wake of Typhoon Haiyan’s devastation, IsraAID, the Israel Forum for International Humanitarian Aid, has sent an aid team to the Philippines to provide critical health interventions in the hardest-hit areas. The Israeli team will help local NGOs and UN agencies in treating hundreds of thousands of people affected by one of the worst storms on record.

Typhoon Haiyan’s violent winds barreled through several central islands, knocking out power, tumbling buildings and burying people under tons of debris. Reports say some 10,000 people are believed to have died in Friday’s devastation.

“We have a team that is leaving today,” Shachar Zahavi, head of IsraAID tells ISRAEL21c on Sunday morning in Israel. “About five or six people are leaving tonight. They are flying tonight and landing in Manila and from there they will go straight to the field. Note that it’s an IsraAID-FIRST mission.

“The team will be made up of paramedics and the minute they land there we will start working to get a better understanding of how things will look. From there we will add more professionals and people specializing in child safety and trauma experts.”

The Israeli government also offered medical help to Philippines authorities — which was graciously accepted — and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is presently making arrangements for a transfer to the affected areas, a Foreign Ministry spokesperson tells ISRAEL21c.

A team of six first responders from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the IDF are also headed out Sunday night from Jerusalem to Manila. The two government officials and four Home Front Command officers “will meet with Philippine authorities and see what they need and how to get it there logistically,” a spokesperson tells ISRAEL21c. “This will help us understand what we need to send over, when to send it, and how to send it.”

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu sent a letter to Philippine President Benigno Aquino: “On behalf of the government and people of Israel, I extend heartfelt condolences to the families of those who lost their lives as a result of the horrific typhoon, and I send best wishes for a speedy recovery to those who were injured.

“I hope that Israel’s assistance will help alleviate the suffering of those affected by this terrible disaster. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and the Filipino people at this difficult time.”

Israeli Ambassador to the Philippines Menashe Bar On extended sympathies to residents of the area and said Israel is one with Filipinos “in these trying times.”

In the 2009 typhoons in the Philippines, Israeli aid workers provided medical relief to thousands of people there. IsraAID set up a number of field hospitals in the storm-battered country four years ago. Zahavi said that’s the plan this time around as well.

“Setting up a field hospital – that’s our goal. That’s what we are trying to aim for,” he says. “You have to understand that it is relatively hard to get in there. It’s not easy so this is really our first mission. We have been working with our local contacts to secure private flights into [the disaster zone]. Eventually we would like to scale up and to see how feasible it will be to build a field hospital. We are working closely with the ministries there. In 24 hours we will know more and will be standing. Our team will arrive to their destination around noon Israel time .”

RE: Should the US pull out of the World Bank

Happygolucky4u

Thanks :)

RE: Who thinks the US should continue giving 8 million dollars a day to Israel?

RayFromUSA
That money the United States gives to Israel is actually paid by the taxation of America's most hardworking and wealthy middle class the 6 million American Jews( 61% of American Jews work as professionals, many of whom are highly educated, salaried professionals whose work is largely self-directed in management, professional, and related occupations such as engineering, science, medicine, investment banking, finance, law, and academia) plus the fact that American Jews through being taxed at their personal income and business contributes much more to United States than the American aid to Israel. And you said " Israel lives high because of the aid" that is not true, the American aid is worth 3 billion dollars last year Israel exported, technology, medicin, and industry tools worth 64 billions so if USA cuts it's aid it will not stop Israel from being prosperous.

Obstinance_Works

Until the 1960s jews were forbidden from the top american universites it was inferiority complex..... the whites though that it was impossible to compete with Jews.
