Sometimes when attempting a new start it feels as if all your gears are broken and theres no oil in there either and movement in any direction is rusted and grating and excruciatingly painful - so sometimes, even if people do seem ill tempered and argumentative every now and again its not so hard to try to be understanding - its when that kind of behaviour is the only behaviour they ever exhibit that it gets a bit more clinical.......

I used to think that way too but now Im more of the opinion that the forums are just an alternative for the arguments people used to have with the long gone spouse' - they come in here for their daily 'hits' instead

I dont say there is no god, I do say nothing I have seen so far convinces me and especially the blood lust displayed by bible god...... In respect of that particular god Im totally Atheistic - the priests who spun it all were the politicians of old and besides, most of the books of the bible (NT) were written to please Constantine and worse, they were given tax incentives for producing them - read up on the first council of Nicea - I have to go now......

The Bible has a bit called The Great Commission in which all believers are adjured to go out and convert all nations - they have taken it one step further and are now trying to convert all web sites too - there are sites which teach them how to draw people in to their webs - check out something called 'the bridge strategy'..........

A couple of years ago this place was like an annex of the local church - prayer threads abounded on a daily basis and if I spoke up for my atheistic beliefs I got the most disgusting of responses from what I consider very disturbed people - Ive stuck it out here and things have improved - I really enjoy the fact that more people are here nowadays with more open minds to different possibilities - it wasnt always this way here.

Just on the side of practicality, skirts are miles more cumfy

There was a tv ad here this year where a young man met up with his dad on a night out and the dad was dressed up but the young man and all his mates were really cool about it - I though it was an amazing social statement

yep, I hate to be so cynical but Ive watched them too long to be otherwise. This will be a whole great farce of pomp and circumstance while people will be going through this coming winter unable to keep their homes heated etc but woo hoo, a bit of pomp and circumstance will shut them up.....

I have earned the right to call myself a social scientist and I love physics too. Whilst Im waiting for somebody to substantiate their claim of a god Im not going to waste my time finger tapping. Im looking at alternative explanations for our existence, its not as scarry as religion or as costly or as corrupt - I

Im absorbed by people watching and this necessarily includes religion. Im not actually interested in religion per se but more in the methods which have been employed in order to lend credibility to the god of the desert tribes - this has also fed over into mainstream society, lots of advertising has similarities to religion i.e. convince em that they need it and youve made a sale....... Have a look at the subject of the sociology of religion, its fascinating......

I didnt start this thread and I dont start god threads but if asked for my opinion and as Im so involved and interested in it, I give my two pennorth. Ive always had more than a passing interest in religion, just because Im skeptical of its claims doesnt mean I have less right to to look into it and root out inconsistencies.

The other thing is that religion can cause as much chaos in a persons mind as uncertainty of their gender or addictive behaviour. If I can help just one person through those thought processes then I would consider my time well spent but thats what happens anyway and besides, much as I like and laugh with the more lighthearted threads I often think I dont fit in cos I am a serious kind of person - Ill stick with the god threads thanks.....

As for the proof bit, Im not here to prove anybody wrong, on the contrary, I wish somebody would prove me wrong and provide that teensy bit of info that we have been asking for for so long...... so long in fact that people are concluding for themselves that there isnt a god after all
