My grandson has just left school at 18 and gone straight into university which he will finish when he is 21 and then if he does a one year masters course straight away he could have that by the time he's 22 - I had 3 children by then........ hence not getting to uni till I was 50......

Thats certainly the case personally for me - I couldnt afford to do my masters sadly, living in the middle of nowhere like I do, there are precious few jobs anyway..... so I have to be content with things like stumbleupon within which you can set your preferences and go a stumbling through all kinds of interesting stuff - then there are the free libraries to be found on the internet too - learning is closely akin to breathing for loads of people nowadays thankfully - Im a total Atheist but I could see my way to worshiping something as worthwhile as information technology
Im beginning to be of the opinion that degrees are simply another way to mask the unemployment figures here but at least the kids are getting educated so I wont complain - how long it will last for now that the condems are in power is anybodies business...... and I do wonder where it will leave the mature student courses in the future too.......
