My opinion the guy is weak ... He knew you were friends yet asked her out to make himself feel better (although he allegedly liked you to the point of turning to drink when you turned him down). I think he asked your friend out "just to show you" ... never mind whether your friend should or shouldn't gone out with him ... Now that it hasn't worked out with your friend he suddenly remembers "it's you he likes". I think he is fickle and plays games with people's emotions ...
I think you are confusing the issue here ... It's not about your frienship with your girlfriend ... It's about: "Do you REALLY want to be involved with someone who drinks when under pressure or disappointment and who does ANYTHING to make himself feel better (self-indulgent) when he can't get his own way?
To LOVE someone you have to LIKE them first ... in my book he hasn't shown any "like-able" traits from what you are saying ... Attraction and lust ARE NOT love ... To get "infatuated" with someone who's only claim to fame is "have made you feel unhappy" by his actions/decisions does not bode well for your future happiness if you give in to "the pull towards him" and get involved with him ...
Talking from experience ... I know we don't want to listen ... because the pull is so strong ... the unhappinness however will be far more painful later than the "pain" of walking away from it NOW ...
This is for you Smoky!!! Why didn't you say you wanted this song!!! Old Spanish fav!!! ... with translation for you ... Won't rhyme but will try my best ...

I like real Christmas trees ... they smell wonderfull ... if you get one with the roots still on you can plant it in the garden the rest of the year, then dig it up each Christams and use it for several years ... till it gets too big to be dug up or doesn't fit in the room anymore ...
Longer days and more warmth!!! I'm all for that!! 'Tis a bit "chilly" here in the UK and even chillier in France where I'm going to spend the festive season ... but who cares it's the company that matters!!
My Christmas presents are not "things" ... they are blessings that come in various shapes and forms and will have me smiling to myself for a long while yet ...
I've now bought my ticket to go see my folks in France on 26th, so going to my daughter's for Christmas day
Here's wishing you Hootsie as well as all my friends on CS great energy and enjoyment of the holiday season as well as the very best that life has to offer for 2008 and beyond
the celestine prophecy is a great book though in my opinion is fairly light weight as readings of that type go ... however I really enjoyed reading it ... it's a good place to start if one ones to dip ones toe and get a feel of "the energies that can't be seen"
SweetCherry you are not the only one who doesn't think/believe along the "average population" way of thinking/living
Diongenes .. great thread ... btw becoming aware how our ego and human shortcomings get in the way and react to stuff is the first step towards changing that reaction and learning new "ways"
