I think the emoticons are also here to replace "body language" which would help tell people that you are serious or upset or joking or happy as words on a screen cannot be said "with emotions" hence their name "emoticons"

I love words! But I think that is far more expressive than "oh s..t! oh f...k! what shall i do now?

I can help to lighten a post that might otherwise be perceived as a serious dig at someone unless you go into lentghy explainations that you are only joking!

It brightens up what would otherwise be a load of "black and white"!

Life is full of colour! Why shouldn't CS be?

Also some people think better in picture than in words!

I will say one thing the welfare system is way better in UK if you have a baby ... In Spain it's non-existent apart from heath service ...

I have no idea how crime levels in UK compare with crime levels elsewhere...

Been in UK for last 27 years (just about to leave it's rainy shores for more sunny ones lol!) and brought up my kids here.

I think it all depends what areas you live in: IE Will you be renting or buying in an "affluent-ish area?", in the suburbs or in London?
Some suburbs are not very "safe" others are lovely. Some parts of London are not very "safe" others are lovely...

Everything is relative to what one is used to...

Give us a break about "being hit straight in the face by the fact that we are sinners!" What people are NOT nowadays is HYPOCRITS!

Since when did christian people do without worldly goods, decadent life style or promiscuous ways or even crime (mafia)? All they had to do to be "good christians" was go to church and go to confession for their sins to be forgiven and their conscience to be "good as new" and all they had to do was recite a few "Ave Marias"...

Only difference now is that instead of sticking in an unhappy marriage and getting a lover, people choose to live with their conscience and put up with the consequences of "doing something about it"

I have seen and heard more "unkind, un-generous and judgemental" comments from so called christians in christian communities than I care to remember... Self-righteous and bigotted...

Who wants to lead a righteous (judgemental) life? God's will is all loving and forgiving, the opposite of righteousness...

I am before and after and this is after. If you turn the clock you get nothing because all happens at once. The before and the end and the middle are but one. So after is always before and before is always after. All is illusion and illusion is timeless because you don’t know when it happened. In fact it did not happen at all because it is illusion and illusion does not happen. Everything is the illusion from the standpoint of the person/energy experiencing it and from each stand point the same event will radiate a different illusion. But since all is illusion, the event itself is illusion because it will be perceived differently; and timelessness has no beginning and no end therefore every event is over before it can unfold and only the illusion that our mind creates leaves it’s imprint in our brain. So no event is worth worrying about because the reality of it only exists in the mind of the person carrying it. Since that reality is nothing but illusion and time is timeless, the time spent worrying is worthless because worrying about an event that we perceive from the past, the present or the future is nothing but illusion of time. Time is timeless and the past, the present and the future are but one. Whatever we are doing now is the past the present and the future. The best one can do is to make the illusion of the present be what we want the illusion of the future to be. Bearing in mind that our illusion is not always the illusion of others or other energies. The best one can do is to respect all beings’ illusions to be their own truths for their before, their now and their after -which happens to be all but one.
