Saskachewan or Montreal?

Oldest son is going to the game. Have to admit I'm excited for him.

My Daughter sent this to me... Just wanted to Share

The Night Before Christmas

T'was the night before Christmas,He lived all alone,
In a one bedroom house, Made of plaster and stone.

I had come down the chimney,With presents to give,
And to see just who,In this home did live.

I looked all about,A strange sight I did see,
No tinsel, no presents,Not even a tree.

No stocking by the mantle,Just boots filled with sand,
On the wall hung pictures,Of far distant lands.

With medals and badges,Awards of all kinds,
A sober thought,Came through my mind.

For this house was different,It was dark and dreary,
I found the home of a soldier,Once I could see clearly.

The soldier lay sleeping,Silent, alone,
Curled up on the floor,In this one bedroom home.

The face was so gentle,The room in such disorder,
Not how I pictured,A Canadian soldier.

Was this the hero,Of whom I'd just read?,
Curled up on a poncho,The floor for a bed?

I realized the families,That I saw this night,
Owed their lives to these soldiers,Who were willing to fight.

Soon round the world,The children would play,
And grownups would celebrate,A bright Christmas Day.

They all enjoyed freedom,Each month of the year,
Because of the soldiers,Like the one lying here.

I couldn't help wonder,How many lay alone,
On a cold Christmas Eve,In a land far from home.

The very thought brought A tear to my eye,
I dropped to my knees,And started to cry.

The soldier awakened, And I heard a rough voice,
'Santa, don't cry. This life is my choice.

I fight for freedom,I don't ask for more,
My life is my God,My country, my corps.'

The soldier rolled over,And drifted to sleep,
I couldn't control it,I continued to weep.

I kept watch for hours,So silent and still,
And we both shivered,From the cold night's chill.

I didn't want to leave,On that cold, dark night,
This guardian of honor,So willing to fight.

Then the soldier rolled over,With a voice, soft and pure,
Whispered, 'Carry on Santa,It's Christmas Day, all is secure.'

One look at my watch,And I knew he was right,
'Merry Christmas my friend, And to all a good night.'

RE: Canada, and being Canadian

... so does that mean you are 3 little pigs, and when Trucker huffs and puffs she blows your house (ego) down? rolling on the floor laughing

RE: canadian forums

If a person does not like something, complains about it, and comes back again and again ... and does not stop complaining about it and comments on others, the others are not the fool or the problem. The person who keeps coming back is the fool/problem.

Only one doing the attacking was the person who started the thread.

COMMON SENSE; If you don't like something don't keep going back and them complain about it.

It's the same principle as "Fool me once you're the fool, fool me twice, I'm the fool."

If a person is just going to whine and complain, but won't leave or be part of the solution to fix the problem, they are part of the problem. JMO, I do not feel it is very grown up and mature behavior to whine and complain about something and do nothing to fix it but you keep returning for more. If a person posts something, be prepared for other's opinions. Common Sense: If a person is not interested in feed back, keep your comments to yourself.

Whatever bee is under your bonnet and is causing you to feel so negative and miserable, I hope will stop and you will feel better about yourself soon.

From Brian "I always enjoyed a work out myself. it's good to have a hobby."... innocent

RE: canadian forums

Suggestion, if you don't like it, fix it, or leave ... isn't that what we tell new comers?

If you don't like a TV program, don't watch it.

For Gordo, Brew, and Geo... from Bri

WHEN I SAY I'M BROKE - I'M BROKE!
A little old lady answered a knock on the door one day, to be confronted by a well-dressed young man carrying a vacuum cleaner.

'Good morning,' said the young man. 'If I could take a couple
Minutes of your time, I would like to demonstrate the very latest in high-powered vacuum cleaners...

' 'Go away!' said the old lady. ''I'm broke and haven't got any money!'' and she proceeded to close the door..

Quick as a flash, the young man wedged his foot in the door
And pushed it wide open... ''Don't be too hasty!'' he said. ''Not until
You have at least seen my demonstration.''

And with that, he emptied a bucket of horse manure onto her
Hallway carpet.

''Now, if this vacuum cleaner does not remove all traces of this
Horse manure from your carpet, Madam, I will personally eat
The remainder.''

The old lady stepped back and said, ''Well let me get you a fork,
'cause they cut off my electricity this morning."

RE: Hmmm I wonder whom made "skinny" popular,or the ideal image??????

I respect what you are saying Kid, and yes Dove is selling their product, but lately I like the idea they have women who look fantastic, wrinkles and all, being used as their spokes models.

Dove has also started some kind of programs for enhancing young girls self esteem. They are selling their product in their ads, but it's not the products I see when I view their ads, it's the beauty of the women of all ages, sizes and colors being used, instead of some super model who's image has been altered (using some program).

I just felt that even though that company is selling their product, (don't ask me what they are), I liked the message about self esteem, and the beauty of women no matter what size, age, shape or color.

RE: Hmmm I wonder whom made "skinny" popular,or the ideal image??????

I saw that interview. It was amazing to see a young lady who is already a natural beauty, almost kill herself because of remarks made to her about her size. She is an elegant, beautiful, intelligent young lady. It was scary to think that someone like her would end up starving herself because of image expectations and ignorant comments made to her.

RE: Would you go out with someone that had kids?

Depends on the person. I made friends with someone who shares custody of his 4 kids. On weekends, he taxis his kids around to what ever they are doing. He is not looking for a new mother or someone to take care of his kids. Somethings might involve going with him to his kids' events, and you might not get to date as much as some think you should. He is a great man, and did manage to find a lady who had no problems fitting into his life. She also has kids. It takes a lot of work, but for them they find the time to be with each other.

Dating now, involves families and kids. Dating for people my age is not the same as young people. We are not only dealing with our kids, but with our work schedule, ex's, aging parents, extended families and in some cases health issues. If you truly want a relationship, you will both have to deal with and be there for each other for all of the above.

I feel that if the person I am with, will have to deal with my having kids, even if they are grown, (one with a disability) and the foster kids I help look after, then I should also be willing to deal with the other person having kids.

Question ... would you want to be with someone who does not want to accept your kids?

RE: Hmmm I wonder whom made "skinny" popular,or the ideal image??????

You said it perfectly

RE: The first long weekend of the summer begins

I love the way you think, Lady!!!

RE: The first long weekend of the summer begins

Dear Robin, I have some photos from the trips I took when going to Whitehorse with Brian. I'll gladly send them to you if you'd like.

Big Bad Brew is afraid of snow.,, such a wus!!

For Gordo, Brew, and Geo... from Bri

ummm short people don't have to duck.... Ducky ... oh yeah I also like to leave the cupboard doors open and never have that hit my head problem.... I wonder if I can entice Trucker to leave a few cupboard doors open :-)

For Gordo, Brew, and Geo... from Bri

Sorry Brew, but your delusional little ego got it wrong again... ROBIN is the stronger smarter one ... she needs to be so she can put up with you.... you strong???.... well smell isn't everything. grin

RE: Happy Halloween

Women get confused with math because Brew likes to tell them that this <-------------------> is 6 inches ... doh

RE: Strange People

... MST??

For Gordo, Brew, and Geo... from Bri

You might think you are brave Brew ... but we all know you are stupid to dare Robin to get you ... she is the only woman we know who is STRONG enough to outsmart and put up with you.

Dear Robin ... cheers

For Gordo, Brew, and Geo... from Bri

Well I did think of throwing that stick of dynamite ... Painted to look like something else, Brew bends over thinking he has a nice smoke ... and well you have a nice place to put that bottle of rye he thinks we are too stupid to bend over a pick up.... grin

For Gordo, Brew, and Geo... from Bri

Me bend over for a bottle of rye???? would not work. If you threw a bottle of anything on the floor, it's your mess to clean up. ( do you really think I'd fall for that stupid trick?... your are definitely delusional!!!)

A club and a spade (according to Brian is much cheaper) and he would not waste the dynamite because he needs it for fishing.

RE: Happy Halloween

Yeah ... dreamers ... only because you are demented in thinking you are so big.

RE: Happy Halloween

Let us know when the big even happens .... no Brew big is not referring to you, but the big bon fire I will light ... and the BIG relief Trucker will receive with your up and coming death because of your SHORT commings.

cheers drink pouring wine

RE: Happy Halloween

A small tea bag is more than enough to cover that wee thing.

RE: Happy Halloween

Halloween History & Origin
Halloween is the one of the oldest holidays still celebrated today. It's one of the most popular holidays, second only to Christmas. While millions of people celebrate Halloween without knowing its origins and myths, the history and facts of Halloween make the holiday more fascinating.

Some people view Halloween as a time for fun, putting on costumes, trick-or-treating, and having theme parties. Others view it as a time of superstitions, ghosts, goblins and evil spirits that should be avoided at all costs.

As the Christian debate goes on, celebrating Halloween is a preference that is not always viewed as participating in an evil holiday. Halloween is often celebrated with no reference to pagan rituals or the occult.

Halloween History
Halloween is on October 31st, the last day of the Celtic calendar. It was originally a pagan holiday, honoring the dead. Halloween was referred to as All Hallows Eve and dates back to over 2000 years ago.

All Hallows Eve is the evening before All Saints Day, which was created by Christians to convert pagans, and is celebrated on November 1st. The Catholic church honored saints on this designated day.

Origin of Halloween
While there are many versions of the origins and old customs of Halloween, some remain consistent by all accounts. Different cultures view Halloween somewhat differently but traditional Halloween practices remain the same.

Halloween culture can be traced back to the Druids, a Celtic culture in Ireland, Britain and Northern Europe. Roots lay in the feast of Samhain, which was annually on October 31st to honor the dead.

Samhain signifies "summers end" or November. Samhain was a harvest festival with huge sacred bonfires, marking the end of the Celtic year and beginning of a new one. Many of the practices involved in this celebration were fed on superstition.
The Celts believed the souls of the dead roamed the streets and villages at night. Since not all spirits were thought to be friendly, gifts and treats were left out to pacify the evil and ensure next years crops would be plentiful. This custom evolved into trick-or-treating.
