My cousin's had never seen anything like it. Everything pretty much came to a stand still.... now imagine how damp it is there and how much colder it felt.
Make sure that stuff that is not necessary, or have not been used with in the last yr.... toss them.
I was lucky, since the boys and I only left with a broken computer and 4 suitcases and started off the scratch with help from family and friends. (lots of hand me downs)
If you can afford to sell off items like your bed and sofa (use that money towards buying replacements) ... that helps with the weight issue and space on the moving truck. Hard to say for sure what to leave behind because of the price of moving and starting over again.
Keep things as basic as possible. Not easy to do when you have kids. If you can leave things like microwave ovens etc... if they are not too expensive in your new location to replace ...
If you sort through stuff and make a pile of what to toss... toss it ASAP. Then sort through the keep pile again ... you might surprise your self and toss out even more. It is so nice to get rid of old baggage... especially stuff that you thought you had to keep. It's so freeing emotionally.
Almost as bad as the out of work single mother of 6 kids (no father, or child support), living with mom and dad, having 8 babies via invitro .... now all of those babies are in neonatal care ... no insurance...
No offense, but some woman are so selfish just to have a child...when there are so many children with out parents up for adoption ... JMO ... it's sad because .... it comes across as the women doing this are selfish ... where does the safe keeping of the child come in? As much as I love the twins living at my mother's, and enjoy them, it takes a team of people to keep up with them.
My apologies to anyone that has wanted a child (for the right reasons) and unable to give birth to one of their own ... sometimes I wonder if the younger women trying to have children get upset because the procedure worked for much older women, and not for them? JMO, it's not fair to all parties involved.
She is kind of in and out of it. Morphine is getting her to have dreams about where she grew up in Ireland.
For what Mom has been through, she looks good (JMO). My father is driving everyone crazy... and expects me to be there every moment I am not at work, helping at the house or dropping what ever I'm doing ... patience is a virtue, but at the moment I don't have much of it.
Brian has been a rock for me to lean on. A woman at work has been there for me as well. No news on what the results are yet.
Operation took 9 hrs.
I get home to sleep, sometimes have time to read email. Eric is coping the best way he can. No matter how many times I say, "It depends on how well everything goes for my mother"... I keep getting asked have I set a date yet... :-)
Re the book... "Keepers of the Wisdom". Under what author's name? There is more than one version of that book and I'd like to get the one you mentioned. :-)
Thanks for all the positive wishes and prayers. Ta ta for now.
Mom goes in for surgery this Friday. Part of her pancreas, bile duct, stomach, and all of her gallbladder will be removed. Complete recovery from the operation alone will take up to 6 months.
Until she is better, I might not be posting much. Eyes, love the emails you send, sorry you have not received many replies. Please know they are appreciated and read. Thanks for keeping me going and words of encouragement.
You are on the bus when you suddenly realize ...you need to fart. The music is really loud, so you time your farts with the beat. After a couple of songs, you start to feel better as you approach your stop. As you are leaving the bus, people are really staring you down, and that's when you remember: you've been listening to your ipod.
Welsh mother guilty of allowing 3-year-old to smoke
Woman receives suspended sentence, child 'a habitual smoker'
LONDON — A British woman has pleaded guilty to child cruelty for allowing her three-year-old to smoke in front of her.
Prosecutor Jonathan Rees says video taken by a mobile phone showed the small child popping a cigarette into his mouth, lighting it with a lighter and taking a drag.
Rees told a court in the Welsh town of Merthyr Tydfil that the boy’s mother, 24-year-old Kelly Marie Pocock, was sitting next to him and talking on the phone at the time.
The film was shot by Pocock’s friend, Natasha Dudley, who showed the footage to social workers.
Judge John Curran said Thursday it was clear Pocock’s child was a habitual smoker and called the situation appalling.
Can you see a law enforcement officer.... going ooooo I have to get that person for smoking in their car... and in the meantime some violent crime takes place just down the road ... But the trusty law enforcement office got that smoker for smoking in the car ... wow our tax dollars are going to pay for that too....... GRRRR
Any one that smokes in a car with kids, more so with the windows closed ... does not take into consideration other people. Why not work more on the gang and drug violence etc .... JMO, I feel those are things that need more done to get rid of.
Curvy, there are so many foster children waiting for someone to adopt them, and make them part of a family. My mother has 4 all 2 yrs old and under. Each one of them a blessing, and up for adoption.
Who ever gets them, will be very lucky and very blessed to have these kids in their life.
Telemarketers have up to 31 days to update their lists and to make sure they do not call you. You could still receive calls within those first 31 days.
Registering on the National Do Not Call List (DNCL) will not eliminate all telemarketing calls. There are exemptions within the Rules that may allow calls from organizations such as charities, those with whom you have existing business relationships, political parties and newspapers.
You can further reduce unwanted telemarketing calls by asking these organizations to place your number(s) on their own do not call list.
FYI ... When we register to be on the "Do not call list", it does not guarantee that we will not get calls. It is something to HELPdeter telemarketers from getting through, but does not cover automated calls, or calls from out of the country.
Don't forget the ones that send the same letter after they have been rejected. I tend to like the ones that say they fell in love after reading your profile.... hmmmm funny how my profile does not say anything.
Have had to block a few so called .... uhhhh model Suitors ... seems my response was not taken seriously,... and then the same form letter is sent with in a week. If I have checked the who has "viewed me", it shows they have not.
Some of those form letters describing themselves tend to cause lots of laughter ... so much laughter my stomach hurts. If they are so perfect what are they doing on here.
I'm an ex smoker. The only time I really have a problem with someone that smokes, is when they blatantly blow smoke in another person's face, light up in someone's house when they are told they can only smoke outside.
My profile said non smoker because of my asthma etc.
Hanging around non smokers might help you smoke less.
From my own experience, and from watching other smokers, if they get lecture or nag about it, that does not stop them from smoking. Sometimes it makes them more defiant, and they just light up another cigarette.
My oldest son smokes. Instead of nagging or lecturing, every couple of months I say, "Nag, Nag". His response, "Yeah, I know you love me."
People can successfully quit any habit, but they have to be mentally and emotionally ready. Best of luck to anyone that wants to quit, thinking about it, or in the middle of doing so.
Hey Trucker..... if you need any ideas on where to stuff that Browncow's bat... I'm sure there are a few people that would love to help you use it on Browncow.
Got Glen's attention didn't it? I call all the kids, (male and female), George, and it causes some interesting responses. One of the kids started to call me Gord ... that is the reason I used the name "Gord". :-)
GLEN QUICK DYE YOUR HAIR BLACK OR SOMETHING DARK!!!!!
I remember the dark haired person must be the first one through your door.
New Years was always a more important celebration... unfortunately all the commercialization of Christmas has taken over trying to make New Yrs less important.
Cheers kiddo..... best of wishes to you and yours.
How sick is this?
