RE: Mind training

Yes, at first there's a goal, but some are able to abandon that.

RE: Mind training

If anyone who tries meditating because they think it's the end all and be all, theyre not meditating.

RE: Mind training

It's called lojong meditation in Buddhism, a very important practice.....

RE: Need More Money!

I heard the US has already spent more money on this war, (the war that Biden stated the US would not get involved in,) than the Ukraine.

RE: What does god judge you on in life's journey?

A perfect opportunity to listen to Faithless and their anthem....We Come One.

Sadly their well loved singer, Maxi Jazz passed away just a few weeks ago....he certainly will be missed, his music and messages touched many.

RE: What does god judge you on in life's journey?

Heaven is not a place nor a condition. It is merely an awareness of perfect Oneness, and the knowledge that there is nothing else; nothing outside this Oneness, and nothing else within."

Was only joking TM, fair play to him, and he sure does look happy.

RE: Empathy...

I find it hard to fathom what you say most of the time, even less why you say it.

RE: Empathy...

Unless you're replying to robplum.

RE: Empathy...

Indeed, empathy does not always produce positive reactions. We can feel the happiness or distress of another, how we react to that feeling can be another matter. It could lead to feelings of envy, jealousy, resentment, or unworthiness, whereas compassion will always be fueled by love. As the Dalai Lama put it.......

"From my own limited experience, I have found that the greatest degree of inner tranquility comes from the development of love and compassion. . . Ultimately, the reason why love and compassion bring the greatest happiness is simply that our nature cherishes them above all else. The need for love lies at the very foundation of human existence. It results from the profound interdependence we all share with each other."

Ben McBean???

Made up name, surely.

RE: Empathy...

I don't think you really need to say that.

RE: Empathy...

When feeling empathy for someone it doesn't necessarily follow that you will act to help them, .
Empathy was sometimes referred to as sentimental compassion and what we call compassion was sometimes known as great compassion.
Compassion is more likely to result in actions to improve the well being of someone who is believed to be suffering. Empathy, more often than not just results in feelings and not actions.

RE: Empathy...

I think compassion is greater than empathy. Better to feel for than feel with.

RE: Prince Harry's book

Maybe not....doh

I think this kind of behaviour comes with the territory, just look back in history, this is what royal families do.

RE: Prince Harry's book

Not so much "found the light of day," more arrived in the media spotlight.
As for saying he killed 25 taliban, I'm not sure that was a very smart admission.

RE: Interested...?

Nor do they most often have the luxury of eating meat.

RE: Interested...?

I think it's a personal choice in the Christian faith.

RE: Interested...?

I dont think so.

RE: Interested...?

No I don"t. But again the Buddha was very clear about this. He said, do not take my word for what I say. Like the goldsmiths at the market, test, check, see for yourself, I only give you my thoughts.
But, as I've said many times on here, I'm not a practising buddhist.
