RE: Say Anything part 3

Nobody is born stupid, it's an aquired art.

RE: Is any group of people responsible for the loss of fun contributors & thumbsdown in the cs forums?

Remember oslojente? She was a very smart woman, although she did have an ongoing feud with an American woman, I think it was hugznkisses. Not that there was much of that between the two of them..laugh
Also my lifelong friend trish123. She teamed up with summeruk to go and visit morgan in the Canary Islands. They made a thread about it, something like 'the Canary three' it was hilarious, they were drunk all the time.
Mind you, the last time I mentioned that on here, my thread was pulled...uh oh

Didn't Robert have a pet frog he would talk about with great fondness?...laugh

RE: Is any group of people responsible for the loss of fun contributors & thumbsdown in the cs forums?

There used to be a disproportionate number of people from Malta on here for a while. Robert being one of the more vocal ones had quite a disturbing breakdown on here before he left. It really was a bit of a madhouse at times back then.

RE: What changes do you want in CS?

No, thumbs up are postive, make people feel better. Let me ask you something else. Are you one of the people thats giving a thumbs down to vitually every post, regardless of the content?

RE: What changes do you want in CS?

Yes, you've already said that, but maybe some people are more sensitive than you. Maybe potential new posters see the negativity and think, no, not really for me.
Let me ask you. Can you see any positivity coming from the thumbs down feature the way it is being used at the moment?

RE: What changes do you want in CS?

Maybe it doesn't bother you, but don't you think new members might be understandably bothered by every one of their posts receiving negative responses.? Maybe it's one of the reasons the numbers have reduced so dramatically on here and why we see very few new members.
Why admin cant see this and remove the thumbs down feature remains a mystery to me.

Clear skies, nice and sunny, -2C though. Hands and feet were freezing on my bike ride today.

RE: The friend of my enemy is a priori my enemy.

You're right, being mindful is far from having a mind 'full'. Ironically it's those who dont have the tims for stillness who would benefit the most. I'm sure you know that anyway.

RE: The friend of my enemy is a priori my enemy.

Become mindful to use your mind less, or at least to give it a rest.

RE: The friend of my enemy is a priori my enemy.

You think too much.

RE: Name that movie

^^^^

Forgot to quote gal.

RE: Name that movie

Romeo and Juliet starring Leonardo DiCaprio.....the final scene.

RE: Name that movie

Thanks gal, I enjoyed that. Great live performance, somehow made even better by the rain. Don't know what film it was made for though.

RE: Name that movie

Which well known 1996 film used this song by Radiohead to close the film. I'd be surprised if anyone gets this without using google.

Goose bumps at 3min 20sec.

RE: How's The Weather Where You Are?

Overcast and grey, 5C

Maybe I'll jump on a jet and head south.

cool

RE: How's The Weather Where You Are?

If it should get to -40 you wont have to mention C or F.

RE: The world should follow the USA lead and also Build Back Better

Given that many of the illegal immigrants are from outside Europe, Brexit has made no difference to them. It's a pity that many of those who voted leave didn't comprehend that.

RE: So what is your country famous for

Oh yes and so much more, especially if you count all the UK.

*Britain has 450,000 listed buildings, 20,000 scheduled ancient monuments, , 26 World Heritage Sites, 1,624 registered parks and gardens, 6000,000 known achaeological sites, 3,500 historic cemerteries, 70,000 war memorials, 4000 sites of special scientific interest, 18,500 medieval churches, over 4,000 castles and 2,500 museums.

* Thanks to Bill Bryson for these figures from his book, The Road to Little Dribbling, the sequel to his wonderful acclaimed book, Notes From a Small Island.
