RE: Fox News Banned From Canada

I agree, there should be a difference. cheers

RE: Fox News Banned From Canada

The flip side of that is when the media is so busy tingling and slobbering over one person that facts get ignored. And you're right, the network news services in the US are pretty screwed up.

RE: Fox News Banned From Canada

They are all politicized in the US, well maybe there's one or tweo that aren't but I haven't seen them.

I guess I would have to ask if NBC, CBS, CNN, etc.. are allowed to broadcast in Canada. If they are, then I would think that confirms what many believe i.e. FOX is a news service catering to conservative and the rest are catering to the liberals.

Whether Americans care to admit it or not, FOX is the only voice of opposition to the US's liberal media and since they're much higher rated than all the others, that should at least say something.

To be fair, shows like Hannity, Beck and some others are definately biased but so are shows like Olberman, Maddow, etc... I wonder if those are on in Canada. laugh

RE: Fox News Banned From Canada

Why would anyone revel in a restriction on free speech from a country that's supposed to have freedom of speech and the press? Is a Liberal Democracy the only kind of democracy? I guess the point is if someone or some organization is discriminated against and it fits ones personal agendy or belief system then it must be OK. The fact of the matter is that FOX News, whether we like it or not, is one the highest rated news in the US, much higher than CNN, NBC, ABc, etc.. I guess the liberals would simply sleep better knowing they can silence any opposing views.

RE: The worst are still to come

Thanks John, I agree, humanatarian aid and indirect assistance would probably do the job. A part of me wishes we or others could do more but our track record hasn't been that good lately.

See you around the threads... cheers

RE: gaddafi

You're not the first woman to tell me thatlaugh

RE: The worst are still to come

The easy answer would be for another country to take him out through air strikes but that's not the right thing to do. Any interference from a western country, especially the US would be seen as yet another negative and would only serve to inflame the hatred for the west from those in the Middle East.

I suspect that if those who oppose Gaddafi want him gone, they'll figure a way to do it. If they don't, they'll have to live with their choices made thus far. The Libyans need to stay in Libya and earn their own freedom even if it costs more lives. I know that sound harsh but we can't give those folks freedom, they have to earn it and make choices for themselves.

RE: gaddafi

Someone from within his ranks is gonna pop a cap in his crown adn then we can get on with other things.

laugh

RE: The worst are still to come

That's the thing though, "The President has made no decision" and I would really be surprised, shocked rather, if he committed any military action to this. Maybe a show but that's about it.

This is a no win situation for the US or any other country that believe interference with internal affairs will do anyone any good. I really hope we don't get involved militarily at any point and stay out of this diplomatically until they've solved their problem i.e. reconcile or take Gadaffi out.

RE: Trouble in Wisconsin Unions yea or nay

Actually, it's a beautiful state and very diverse. Sometimes I miss it but the cost of living is through the roof compared to what it was.

Oddly enough, I'll be buying in Hawaii within the next year which is at least as expensive. That's where I'll call home after I'm done with this job and really starting to get excited at the prospect. Now if the housing market would improve enough to sell my house in Alabama and S. Carolina..

Life is hard - In my Pants (John Mellencamp)laugh

RE: Trouble in Wisconsin Unions yea or nay

I'll say something. I grew up there (Lancaster) Not a bad place to grow up but I haven't been back since 79 except passing through the airport in San Francisco and LA

RE: The worst are still to come

I've seen nothing about the U.S. being on their way to rescue anyone. Am I missing something? I know they are looking at options and I hope the option is to stay out of it. We don't need to be involved in the middle of this debacle.

RE: KIDS WILL BE KIDS......

This is some pretty twisted crap. Young minds being corrupted by the hateful. I can say this isn't the norm for Afghanistan and I doubt it is for the Arab world. It happens but not the norm.

RE: Favourite TV Theme Of All Time?

On a serious note, I don't think it will be long before someone pops a cap in his crown. Then he will truly be a hitorical person.

Doctors vs. Gun Owners

We'll never know because I don't think we'll ever be rid of firearms until we no longer exist.

RE: Understanding The True Nature Of Politics And Its Finality

You're probably right, I wish there had been better records from that era.

RE: Understanding The True Nature Of Politics And Its Finality

There are similarities yes but I think it's a stretch at best.

Still, spell 125, is estimated to have been written about 1475 BC while the first five books of the Old Testament were written at about the same time. This includes that whole burning bush/10 commandments incident so if they are one in the same, one may have stolen the idea of the 10 commandments from the other. Who knowsdunno

RE: Trouble in Wisconsin Unions yea or nay

John & Ponch are really going to be disappointed... laugh

RE: Trouble in Wisconsin Unions yea or nay

To me, Unions have morphed into nothing more than another Special Interest Group. they've led to the corruption of our political system just like other lobbiest do. President Obama got elected in part thanks to his catering to the Unions.

Once, long ago, Unions actually meant something and did some good, some still do but the majority are all about getting more money & benefits for their members with little regard for the impact. Perhaps this more than anything else explains the significant decline in union membership over the past 40 years.
