I don't think so. The problem is that both sides are so busy pointing there fingers at each other and making "talking point" arguements, that our government has become completely ineffective (financially) and we're fighting among ourselves over petty issues, failing to see the bigger picture.
I would suggest we simply go to a flat or VAT, where everyone pays based on consumption and close all the corporate loop holes. That of course won't happen so we need to work with what we got. Personally, I'm OK with removing the Bush tax cuts even if that means I will pay much more than I paid in income taxes last year. But there must be an equal amount of spending cut as giving the government additional funds by removing the Bush tax cuts alone will not solve this problem i.e. even with the removal of the Bush tax cuts, we'd still be operating in the red and this is exactly why our credit rating is less than it should be.
Quite frankly I'm shocked anyone would want to loan us money other than the huge interest payments they're making because we're stupid and our lowering credit score. When are we going to realize that it's time to cut up the credit cards and stop living beyond our capacity?
You're right. Both sides did and it started long before even Bush though he and Obama have been by far the worst.
Unfortunately, taxing the rich alone will not fix this problem thus the arguement between the two sides. I'm one of those who would see this increase when/if it comes and I won't mind if they can balance the damn budget and start paying off this debt. We simply spend/waste way too much.
It's going to be more difficult for him in 2012. The first time he simply had to run with the big "hope and change" and "Yes we can" venue. Once he got past Clinton he really didn't have to do much more as there was simply no way a Republican was going to win after the Bush presidency.
Next time, he'll actually have a track record with which he'll be judged and if the Reps come up with a supportable/electable candidate, he'll be out in 2012. The only problem thus far is there's been no stand out opposition from the other parties, especially the Reps.

I think it's safe to say we're not dealing with a rational person here. He "Claims" he's worked on his little manifesto with others but if we've already determined he's a nut job, who's to say this isn't simply a lie. That's not to say there aren't other's like him and they congregate in cyber space with shared interests (warped as they are) just like those here in CS.
This appears to be something that is important to you. Being a Muslim, some could and some do see your posts as biased against Christians and Jews because you're a Muslim. If this were accurate, there would be others in and outside these forums who feel the same way and would be prepared to jump on the same band wagon as you and denounce all Christians/Jews based on the actions of one murdering terrorist who happens to claim being a Christian.
It seems you have come to an incorrect conclusion and have decided to create a Christian or Jewish terrorist organization based on the Oslo terrorist act. I would have thought that being a Muslim and going through the constant scrutiny and distrust many Muslims have had to endure after the countless claimed "Islamic/Jihadists" attacks, you would understand this. Unfortunately, there's not a lot of information yet about this guy. To be sure he has expressed that he's both pro Judeo/Christian and anti Muslim but I have seen nothng to indicate this act of stupidity/hate/terrorism was motivated by his religious faith or any evidence to show he's affiliated with any Christian groups/churches. This seems more political than religious in nature otherwise he would have been screaming whatever it is Christians scream that equates to "Allah Akbar" as he was murdering those innocent people.

As far as President Obama goes, I hope he's a one term President and that's based on my assessment of his performance while the Dems dominated and since the Reps have gained power after the 2010 elections. Hopefully, whatever happens, neither the Reps or Dems get control as both parties have abused the power give. I guess the old saying "power currupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely" is true. Health Care reform is proof enough of this.

This is typical rhetorical BS from Iran. As someone who is not a fan of President Obama, I have to be fair and say that he's not one to fabricate something like this especially when there had to be so many people involved in what Iran asserts is a cover up/conspiracy.
Further, it would not have mattered if photos were released or not. The claim would have simply changed to "those are fake".
Interesting and thought provoking post Cristina. This should at the very least give people pause to consider what is actually happing in Libya and other places.
To me Qadaffi and others like him don't need to be in power but it was not NATO's or the USA's place to make such a decision. One would think we would have learned our lesson on things like this by now. In the case of Libya, this was an internal issue that could and should have been handled internally. I fear that we'll get what we want and Qadaffi will be killed or ousted and then we'll have to deal with the next person who takes his place and that person will be as bad or worse.
