I wish I could agree that there are more people willing to look at both sides. What I see are people thouroughly entrenched in their own beliefs and unwilling to consider both sides of this issue. It's been that way throughout this thread and others like it.
I don't beleve there's need to search further for cause and effect. The dialogue of these threads provides the basic cause and effect i.e. intollerance, stubborness, hate, fear, pride, greed, etc..
True enough and the only "adult" place I knew of (Fuegos) was always so crowded you couldn't breathe. Where the hell were you when I was living there. You were probably just afraid of the competition
Well, maybe a little bit of good news out of the Gaza strip. Preliminary reports are saying Egypt has worked a deal with both Hamas and Israel for a temparary cease of hostilities so that humanatarian aid can reach the strip. It will also allow them to work with both Hamas and Israel in discussions for peace.
I hope it works to ease the tension and I applaud Egypt for their attempts.
I think you should stop looking. I find that when I look I never find but when I'm not looking opportunities arise. Mistakes are OK and I try to use those as lessons. The trick being to not attribute a privious interests failings or shortfalls to current interests.
Naw, I not overly sensitive in this area. I have my own religious beliefs and keep them to myself unless asked. I wish more people did the same. Besides, you've never been invasive or overly critical.
I agree with your other comments. Hadn't thought about population control but that's certainly a result.
I've never heard it put quite that way but it fits.
On a more serious note. I think it's a given we (this forum) will never be able to agree on blame for this conflict. Personally, I think they're equal share holders with one paying a much higher price. That being said, what do you think would be a viable solution? I mean, there have been a number of options throughout the years i.e. two state solution, Israel returning land, The elimination of Israel, the elimination or obsorbtion of all the disputed territories by Israel, etc...
There was a time when I thought the two state solution would work but all attempts have failed thus far. Neither side have honestly negotiated or held up their agreements. I tend to believe now that the only solution left is for the two parties to kill each other until one submits to the other. I know that's really negative but I just don't believe either to ba capable of honest dialogue.
Well, it's gym time and I need to get my sluggish self moving.
It wouldn't go so far as to say the thread(s) are miserable but I will say they are much less useful to anyone seriously interested in exchanging ideas.
I can't speak for mankind being doomed either but it does seem as though we are taking a brisk walk down the path of selfdestruction. We;re alkmost there in the middle east.
Does it really make sense to call someone an idiot if they fail to agree with another's point of view. Each of us have our own experiances, bias', education, etc... It would seem to me that we do nothing to promote our points of view when we stoop to such levels.
There are some eceedingly intelligent people on these threads. Unfortunately, there are those here who seem to have an agenda of nothing more than causing discourse or who lack the skill to present an arguement or opinion without resorting to such tactics.
Sometimes this is a bit humorous but mostly it's sad. I'm done for awhile. Ya'll enjoy.
RE: WHAT IS THE FIRST THING THAT ATTRACTS YOU?
It's just the hankie part that cracked me up. Oooops, that cracked up comment could be taken as a thing joke.
