Moscow metrow. I've been there a few years back. Very deep and the turnstiles open and close really fast if you use a camera flash near them. One of the folks with us got a right smart charlie horse while he was going through.
I understand and especially agree with the hatred portion of your comment. I have made that point myself a couple of times on this thread.
I guess we're going to see what happens in the very near future. Let's hope the inernational ommunity brings cooler heads to the negotiation table and this thing can be stopped.
After considering this for several months I applied for a position in late November. I have received an acceptance and if all goes well I will be leaving in Feb/March.
I just wanted to say thanks to all those that provided input on this even though I ultimately went against the majority of poll responses. No one has ever accused me of being exceedingly bright.
Seriously, I feel what I am doing is right and I really do appreciate the input.
Eben so, I don't believe this will be the end of the world as we know it but I do see a tactical strike as possible if not probable action if Israel feels threatened by another state supporting Hamas. I really hope Israel is smarter than that but neither side has shown an abundance of rational thought. I guess we'll see soon enough
The truth is it's getting worse and worse. Each side is so inflamed about atrocities of the past that neither are rationally considering the cost in human lives
I suspect there will be no real winners if this conflict continues much further and it will spill over to anyone/any nation seen as providing support on either side. In fact, I honestly believe we are closer to witnessing a nuclear detonation than we have ever been.
This thread could almost be used as a social experiment for finding the root causes of the continued tensions/violence in the middle east. There are many valid comments being made, some hate being displayed but very little understanding of opposing sides.
We are a proud and stuborn bunch (self included). We are often so consumed with the wrongs of past that we are incapable of learning from it and we will be condemned in the future because of it. This thread provide some proof of that hypothesis
I'd be willing to bet that if all those participating in this thread's debate/arguement were to be forced to settle their opposing views within the confines of a locked room only one or perhaps several of the same opinion would emerge. Perhaps this will be the fate of the middleeast.
It's always a bad idea to dip your wick in another man's wax, dip your pen in another man's ink, etc...
I had a friend one time that received a phone call from an irate husband, threatened to kill him and everything. My friend asked me what to do and I said it's really simple, stop seeing that woman. He said he would but the husband who called didn't mention the name so he had no idea which woman the guy was talking about.
Yeah, and there are plenty more like the two you posted. How does one deal with an organization like that? I see this thing getting much much worse than it already is.
I saw a comic strip back in the late 70s. In the comic strip Jummy Carter was standing between Arafat and the leader of Israel and he was saying "I think we can find a solve this dispute between the Muslims and Jews if we just behave like Christians" The thought of that still cracks me up.
One would think they would get it eventually and stop all this needless waste.
Looking through this thread I really have to scratch my hed and wonder why peace has not been obtained in the middle east.
There's really only 5 or 6 main players/posters here right now and none really have a big stake in this yet most are prepared to rip each other a new one over this subject. Now multiply these sentiments times the population of that region, throw in special interest groups, other nations, etc.. and you may have some idea about the chances of peace in the middle east.
Those people are pretty much screwed. And it wont be just the Palistinian's and Israeli's who will suffer before this is over.
Would you work in Afghanistan or Iraq & why or why not
Thanks Gman, I just brought this thread back up today and I have made the decision and have the opportunity. I do appreciate your best wishes.
