RE: Does chatting (i.e. messaging back and forth) sometime feel like a job interview?

It feels more like they may not have read or understood the profile. Nothing wrong with chatting.

What ever it is. If they can't keep up there even in acquaintanceship; they wouldn't be able to keep up any where else either.

It's like they started something they can't finish and never a good sign.

There's the other thing that goes with the line above: People get bored, then realize they can't finish what they started to break THAT monotony up.

RE: What do you think about long-distance relationships???

I think odds of success could be higher if neither person has any permanent responsibilities and obligations. One or both should be prepared to relocate. Both need to be able to travel freely for the other even if it is just every weekend in the beginning.

Anything else in the fray and I would have to think no. It's not going to go well. It will be a drain and a strain on different levels. Part time can always seem fun, happy, loving...etc. Long term on a more permanent basis can prove other wise.

I know I have a lot going on. My travel time would have to be kept relatively minimal. It would also help to keep things on a more realistic level too. I would rather get to know and be with someone on that level than any other.

RE: Does CS really work??

dunno

RE: Are you A Pyschopath?

Though your conscience is in the right place you also have a pragmatic streak and generally aren’t afraid to do your own dirty work! You’re no shrinking violet - but no daredevil either. You generally have little trouble seeing things from another person’s perspective but, at the same time, are no pushover. ‘Everything in moderation – including moderation’ might sum up your approach to life.

RE: Loneliness is one of the most common reasons people fall in love.

I think loneliness is what drives people to attempt socializing. People do need contact at at least some levels. Loneliness can help to make rough or even bad decisions at opportunistic times and situations if a person doesn't keep it in check. Keeping things in check isn't always an easy thing to do.

If loneliness is the cause of people "falling in love"; at that point, it's not love. It's neediness and desperation.

RE: Do you agree with this bill trying to get passed by the Republicans?

It may not necessarily be primarily teens that are the problem.

The majority know the risks.

RE: Do you agree with this bill trying to get passed by the Republicans?

Exactly. That's where accountability, responsibility, and respectability come into play. It does take two.

It does only take one to decide to abort or not to abort.

RE: stigma of tabacco smoking

I smoke. Not allowed inside the home no matter what. I don't even own an ashtray. Since I have a lot of drive time for almost everything, the car is free game with at least one window opened a reasonable crack no matter what the temperatures or weather. I can tell some days opening the door on that too.

There is no real excuse for me starting, not even so-called "peer pressure". The bottom line is that I did and still do.

Worse still, is that I have no desire to quit and not sure if I ever will. Peer pressure wasn't the reason for starting and it won't be a reason for stopping either. I think about it from time to time. I can walk into a building and tell if smoking takes place inside. Sometimes, I can walk into a smoking area outside and the scent is unmistakable.

RE: Can A Pure Platonic Friendship Be Maintained Indefinitely?

confused popcorn writing grin

RE: Hindsight - Why did B. Obama deserve the Nobel Peace Prize?

I can't help but notice how it's always "Bush's fault".

So many people that support the obummer misadministration seem to forget it was wall street and the banks stocking their portfolios with people that had no business being financed for what they had. They're so well informed, they don't realize it was the crash of the housing market.

Deregulation of the housing market began with the Reagan administration with the killing pen stroke being given during the Clinton administration. It went down hill from there until it finally caught up to them and crashed in the 2007-2008 financial crisis.

People can continue to cover for the marxist, terrorist traitor in chief all they want; but there isn't one single thing they can say the misadministration has done good for this nation. Death taxes in the form of obummercare isn't a good thing. Potentially up to 100 million to lose good health care for what? Race baiting. Division. Constitutional violations. Aiding and funding terrorists. The list goes on.

Hats off to Egypt for their stance against the marxist.

As for the peace prize; I read an article quite a while back where the group that decided that was actually kind of drunk when they decided to give the marxist the prize. Even though it was never asked for him to return it, there was mention of just that topic a while after realizing their mistake and stupidity. In short, he has actually done nothing over all to deserve it.

RE: So where's this "Global Warming" that is supposed to fry all of us?

I'll be happier when people realize that in order for life to exist on a planet, it has to have a life cycle of it's own.

Instead of fighting the losing battle against nature, work on the precautions people think is "causing" the changes that we have no control over.

All of the extinct species( that we didn't have anything to do with), were shook off like dead parasites while the planet continued it's cycle.

If we don't destroy ourselves AND the planet, the same can actually happen to us and the planet will still go round and round.

Global warming? Climate change? People say life goes on as blow off all of the time when dealing with many things life throws at us. That applies to the planet too.

RE: Education -v- Intelligence -v- Common Sense

Book smart is nice but functionality in day to day real life situations and places is a must. There's a point where education and being analytical is a good thing and there's the "other" point where you just want to show them the door.

Full level common sense and intelligent will do just fine.

RE: Would you date a person who has Bipolar Disorder?

I chose maybe.

I have direct experience almost my whole life, being around people with bipolar disorder. If the person is mostly self aware and doing what's needed to keep it in some kind of reasonable order; it's not so bad once you understand the mood swings. Many still hold jobs, take care of families, etc.

If a person is unaware or even aware and ignoring, maybe even denying a potential problem, it can be dangerous to others, themselves. Normal reaction from most people will be to keep a distance. It may be a very smart move if you know the person and recognize when something isn't right that day.

RE: marriage and love

I should have clarified. Your original post was one I see the most of for accuracy on many reasons divorce rates seem so high. It covers a broad range of "excuses".

It wasn't a negative intent on terminology.

RE: marriage and love

Disposable. This is what I see as pretty accurate in today's "concept" of marriage. People don't understand the meaning of the words they say. It's work.

The bottom line in the end, is the potential loss of respect for one another. Instead of being together as they should with good and bad, many want to live or continue like they are single. Communication becomes lost. Individuality in a relationship becomes blurred. One may be truly committed and the other wants to run.

Many other factors and views fall into play. The bottom line in many cases is the same. Disposable. You don't have to work through anything. You won't be held accountable for anything. Just get out because you can start over with an easier slate than the one you have spent "x" amount of time building on the current one.

There are reasons for divorce. In the last years with many I've talked too, the "reasons and excuses" from most, aren't the right ones or even good ones. This includes some men as well as women. It's not one sided. Another mistake many make, it's not one sided.

RE: this is a waste of time on this..no one is looking to date or do any thing

RE: New Years Resolution For 2014

No resolutions for me for a number of years now. Each year is basically the same, just another year later than the last.

It will have it's own twists and turns with out adding any thing more all on it's own. grin

RE: Romantic mood

Yes. Had to continue to kill the moods and force distance.

She was a good woman in most aspects. There was one majorly important trait lacking that I knew there was no chance of anything lasting so no efforts were required. Just distance and avoiding certain situations so wrong impressions/actions were not applied or allowed.

RE: What's Cooking on here ?

Decided it will be spaghetti tonight; with buttermilk biscuits( since i didn't buy any garlic bread), and a veggie/fruit tray appetizer( broccoli, carrots, grapes, and sliced apples).

RE: Is it possible to fall in love with someone you have never met?

I say no. That doesn't mean any type of stimulation is missing.

It may be easily possible to develop an infatuation, crush, or any other "thoughts" and urges that accompany the arousal(s) incurred.

RE: Old girl , New tricks :)

Hello and welcome back. thumbs up

I'm fairly new here but this is one of the threads that seemed partially safe to reply to so far today. grin

RE: Last Films You Have Seen

Just recently watched "Escape from Planet Earth" and "Good Luck Charlie: It's Christmas". They're actually pretty decent over all.

What can I say? Not my first choices but My daughter is 10 and still in a slight holiday spirit. grin

RE: When I write to any one in connectingsingles they write back saying that they will write to us regul

RE: Make a positive word, with the last Letter, of the last word!

RE: The Affect of Race and Tattoos in Advertising

Courtesy will be the conversations and/or pleasantries that might take place between the seller and the buyer.

How do you explain primarily only one product online? With all of the continued warnings about online sales and scams, how can you explain the control of using the hands to display the product when most people snap a picture of the full product and just put it up for sale?

It is a controlled biased experiment set up to obtained a certain desired response to push more bias.

RE: The Affect of Race and Tattoos in Advertising

I fail to see where this could be even remotely accurate. Not enough variety of products, or expanded marketing.

Even one of the co-authors location speaks more of discriminate bias to portray a false hood as a potential truth.

Given the "social" state of my nation; anything remotely related to junk like this has no bearing any more. Too much of this type of hype is "promotional", one sided, agenda pushing.

Don't jump on this band wagon. When most people want a product, in truth, the most they are worried about is price, courtesy, and ownership. The details of obtaining it, are worked out in between the potential main three priorities.

RE: Would it make you feel untrusted by your partner if they asked you for a prenumptial agreement?

I voted "no" too.

Different mind set though. If it bothers me there won't be a need for a prenuptial agreement because the ceremony won't happen.

If there is justification as mentioned earlier, children involved..etc. There will be safe guards in place for them.

RE: Smacking Children Should Be Banned, Says Tsar

To swat your child on the hind-end in their younger years once in a while for corrections and enforcement, I can understand.

If you mean an actual smack as in across the face or mouth.....I've seen instances of mother daughter where the daughter is teen years. I have to say I am still neutral on certain situations because children can and occasionally will get out of hand because they think they can "take you"...etc. I have seen instances with father and son where the son, also a teenager, losses their mind and suddenly they are old enough to be in charge...of every one..etc. Teenagers know everything and often a swat on the rear may not be enough and they've already done the unthinkable. Is a parent supposed to sit back and take that from their own child? In many cases, the child has been raised better but for many reasons, wrong crowds, environments, "love", experimentation...etc. They revolt beyond normal disagreement. Sometimes this can be due to not enough enforcement, direction, and correction, when younger.

Generally their much younger years won't require much correction but may need to know the parent will enforce what they say. As long as it's an occasional correction on the rear, hand only preferred. Spending time with your children helps a lot but it's not always enough if they know a corner, grounding, special item taken away. Things like that may be too lite and children can get to a point where they literally care less and it doesn't bother them in the least.

RE: Invasion of privacy or right to know?

If I feel a need to do a back ground check rather than talking to and actually knowing the person; I should first feel the truth that the individual in question isn't right for me and no need to continue any thing else further.

If a person feels a need to do a back ground check on me, the truth of character of that person is already staring me in the face and it's time to go.

I generally don't care about a person's past. Who and what type of person are they now and is it permanent, are the important factors. If there is something to worry about, it will come out through interaction in the majority of situations with time.

RE: Facebook Ethics???

I don't think you did anything wrong. I am curious as why you didn't just ask your daughter about the spelling though.

It also makes me curious about the re-action for the friendship request and the melodramatics even going as far as possible "stalking?".

It might have been better to wait and actually meet the person in question. If things are so right and he's so different, why the panic about a FB friend request? Maybe there are some things missing to be seen....all the way around.
