Man when I was younger I used to hook up with some strange stuff in D.C. My favorite was Ventunos in the 70s. In the eighties a disco outside Washington, hosted frequently by a small and obscure, at the time, local dj named Howard Stern. He put in all these super tacky pick up machines so the guys could get and recieve ratings and messages from the girls and vice versa without introducing themselves
Surrealism I love. Persistance of time one of my favorites. Baltimore has a museum of visionary art with many artists similar style to Lowry. Its well known in U. S. You might like it. They have website.
D.C. is only a backwater for modern art. The internet helps overcome location though.
I used to do classic style after old masters, past few years I worked at Corcoran Gallery with contemporary art. Im hustling New york dealers and going on Saatchi online. No money anymore. But just so I can buy paint and not lose my mind Ill be doing ok. Most I do is semi abstract and works with language in odd way.
