The very fact that these two cases made the news is proof that it is the exception, not the norm. These kind of things happen all the time in third world countries, and no one ever hears about it because it happens all the time.
Most of us do not consider ourselves morally superior, simply lucky to live in the country we do. Our leadership may have problems, show me a country that doesn't, but we still have choices about how we live our lives and who we have to represent us. The sad part is how few people know anything at all about the persons they vote for. If more people would inform themselves, and not rely on the major media or the activists or fundamentalists to tell them who to vote for, there would be more accountability in leadership.
Back to the OP, I will always support our military men and women. Without them we would be living in the same squalor as a lot of the rest of the world. Without might there can be no peace.
Never been there, like I said, I have no desire. The "good" parts I've seen on TV suck. Real life has to be even worse. Sorry HJF, I don't even like going into town here, I sure as heck ain't gonna like the neon glare of Vegas.
Hey Joe, welcome to the funny farm. If you want to introduce yourself to the whole nutty gang, this is the place to do it. If you want to speak to wf, that's what we've got email for. It's hit and miss if she'll see it here. Just a suggestion.
Why ask why? Be thankful you're getting to see your little girl, and don't worry about what's going on with mom. It's over, and unless it affects the welfare of your child, it's none of your business.
Know something else I've found, it's ok to be miserable sometimes. It's life, I want to live it, feel it, all of it. I can't feel good without feeling bad sometimes.
Friends help when I get to feeling this way. There are so many people that I just love and love me too. I couldn't have gotten through some of the cr@p in the last couple or three years without them.
If you don't want an empty heart, you have to be willing to let others in to fill it.
