RE: Who Named The Pacific Ocean?

One day, records will be found as to what the ancient Sumerians and and possibly those from present day India called the ocean we now call the Pacific.
The ‘Sea of Atlas’, Atlantic only goes back to around 450BC so we have no known records yet of what the first civilizations called either the Atlantic or Pacific. The Mediterranean Sea from the ancient Greek ‘Mesogelos’ meaning Middle Sea, is not what the more ancient Mycenaeans called it as so far no records have been found, same for their name of the Atlantic which as is now know, crossed many times to the Gulf of Mexico and up the Mississippi into the Great Lakes area for copper. As all the ancient world knew that Earth was a globe, the only name that survives is from Sumeria, was KI/ Kia. The translations of tablets and the digging or more tablets continue. Uni.of Penn State has already published their first Sumerian dictionary of only A to B…Hard work.

RE: Have you bought anything lately ...

Same here; just bought food, both good and bad…cheap but let the lettuce go; too dirty and full of fruit flies. So much for wall mart; god knows how old any of the meat is...dunno

RE: freedom of speech....where is it at

More students in both high schools and colleges seem to be having early epiphanies in their American History classes than ever before, especially when their teachers tell them that terrorists attack America not because they have any legitimate ideological to make but because they are jealous of their freedoms. Many just laugh out loud in disbelief; I certainly did in my time. Many now demand to know what freedoms is the teacher referring to; the freedom to spend their lives away? The freedom to live in a society that seems to be more terrified of itself every day? The freedom to be subjugated by a government that murders indiscriminately and ruthlessly around the planet with predator drones and makes it both illegal and treasonous to even question its actions? When I was told to leave the class, I looked back at my classmates and could see fear. In college, I saw the same fear on their faces as I did back in high school and others have seen this also when told to leave the classroom for the same reasons. Assurances from their teachers that those that remain are perfectly safe is no longer sufficient to reassure most.

RE: freedom of speech....where is it at

Bravo! Excellent!cheering

RE: Do You Wear Sandals When You Drive? If you do...

Same here; sandals with straps for my feet as soon as it gets warm til when the weather turns cold. Flip-flops are way too dangerous to wear while driving and many have had car accidents while wearing them; sliding off; getting stuck under the gas pedal or brake. sometimes causing the driver to miss the pedal and keeps stepping on the flip-flop by mistake; hell, I’ve seen fools loose one or both just on a sidewalk…even going down steps.

RE: NASA

There is a fairly new show on TV, Unexplained NASA photos or the like that asks viewers to send in their ideas…some have actually solved the mystery of a few that NASA could not explain. Interesting show, especially for photography buffs.

RE: ISIS Getting Closer To West

Everyone should have that as an inalienable right; then again, ‘the enemy of our enemy,(the Govt.) is our friend…nest pas...grin

RE: ISIS Getting Closer To West

somehow "safe" and "government" shouldn't be in the same sentence...just sayin[/quote

rolling on the floor laughing thumbs up

RE: freedom of speech....where is it at

Try the Wall St. Journal; it is not just about stocks, bonds and securities…. For magazines, try the New Yorker.
One way to gauge the actual real news content of a newspaper is by weight; the heavier it is, the less news you’ll find...laugh
(stay away from the Honolulu Times and the Los Angeles Times, others are then in descending order…the papers rely on the old saying that “no news is good news"laugh

RE: Ladies: What do you like to wear?

Revealing that 8 males answered your question….rolling on the floor laughing

If I had had a girlfriend, I certainly would have picked up a few bags! I always felt cheated on this as I’ve always enjoyed going out shopping for intimate apparel when I had someone, especially while living in Paris or Berlin with several dozen such shops!grin

RE: Where in the US can you openly carry a handgun without a license?

applause cheering

RE: Mass evictions of illegal immigrants all over France

I think that the solution would be to trade places with any invading army, plus their population. They invade and take (their) new country while the population of the invaded country, takes the old country of the invaders...laugh A whole new era of foreign policy.

RE: Clothing, Who Gets The Better Deal?

Women have a tremendous advantage in all the factory outlets and discount stores, even for the ‘high-end’ markets.
Taken by a friend to a women’s clothing factory many years ago in lower Manhattan. Watched the man going up and down aisles giving out labels for the women to sew unto the clothing that were finished; both cheap and high-end brands, then came the price tags. When compared to men’s clothing, the women’s clothing was consistently 20 to 30% cheaper even with the mark-up. On our way out, my friend picked up a mink coat for his daughter, age 14 at the time. Price listed was 18 thousand. He paid 2 thousand…Factory outlets in many southern states, one can buy clothes by the pound…50lbs of shirts, large/ medium only $25 dollars…women’s blouses, medium: 50lbs for only $25; were as, women’s underwear, in 75lb bags were only 15 dollars!
Whenever I had to go down south, I stopped at several and brought back as much as I could get into the car for everyone that I knew…. Adult toy outlets were just hilarious but profitable when resold...laugh

RE: Real Men Don't Wear Pink..

To fully round out the image that you’ve created/ followed from numerous ‘white trash’ movies, as well as probably, from real life, he must be in dirty jockey shorts with rips and tears, holes, etc.either way too large or too small; lots of hair on the gut that hangs over the elastic band, and with either a can of beer(Jax) or a bottle of Old Crow... Actually not overdone at all; seen a lot of that in trailer parks down in the southern states….rolling on the floor laughing

RE: Mass evictions of illegal immigrants all over France

IF all European countries would work together it certainly would make it easier and perhaps sooner.
Baring that, perhaps the only viable solution is to exchange the entire population of Europe, England included, and most of the pollution of Africa and exchange geographical locations with the Africans; they occupy all of Europe and Europeans occupy most of Africa. Canada and Mexico could exchange their populations, not to leave us out…I could live in the nice Mexican climate; so could a lot of Canadians...rolling on the floor laughing

RE: what r u most concerned about

or….another war…or perhaps both...sigh

RE: Fear!!

Unlike most people. Ive always trusted people to do or say the wrong thing and for the most part, I’ve never been wrong.
As a child, I was told that whatever a person,(adult) can do that is against you or say against you, they will 99% of the time if given the chance. Expect it and you will never be disappointed, so plan ahead for it. It always happens, socially, domestically and certainly employment-wise. It is simply the way of most people to advance themselves; a good reason to always be very weary of everyone. So is Life.

RE: Movies so Bad they are GOOD!

Genghis Kahn starring John Wayne…sooooo bad, it was hilarious, and the stupid cowboy dialogue did not help!
Then there was Ishtar…Hey, better then many I could name. It certainly was entertaining and actually did have a story; never could understand why people stayed away from it. People that actually saw it, rather liked it...

RE: blues

Yes, a Blue day will pass but it will take much longer than a ‘perfect one’ Pain takes much longer to pass both emotionally, spiritually and mentally ; the Blues are about those types of pain...

RE: ISIS beheading children

Yes! And let the bombs fall on the Pentagon and Wash. DC!cheering applause

RE: Red or white??

Rose’ can be fabulous, especially from Chile and Argentina. Portugal makes a few really nice ones.
Your questions are like asking which Burgundies are better, white or red…take a few courses until you finally ‘get the hang of it’ and learning the fine points of both red and white wines and all that can offer you and what if any allergies towards any type that you may have. After the courses, take a tour of European vineyards, the South America; Easter Europe has some delightful wines, like Bulgaria. Vineyards in your own country seem to be doing rather well in becoming quite popular. Obviously the growers know their grapes . After a world tour of vineyards, then move on to Saki!laugh

RE: "WHICH IS WORSE IN HAVING A BROKEN HEART?"

I would say loneliness; there are different types caused by different reasons under different conditions; people end up lonely in marriages; with/ around so called ‘friends’ etc.. If loneliness becomes a way of life, especially for those who feel deeply that they have never been loved or never will be, chances are good that it will eventually become another form of clinical depression which then can devolve to other clinical conditions, such as Parkinson’s and most likely suicide. Probably one last try after other earlier attempts...

RE: For women only a ?

Most females are more than capable of having different types of relationships with other females and/ or males, from lovers to totally platonic. Certainly far easier, in my experience/ observations than males are. Men have far too many hollywood types to try and live up to and they usually choose the wrong one as far as many females are concerned...laugh

RE: How can people have a serious relationship oversea?

Or, work for an airline company or a cruise ship line or free passage plus huge discounts for ‘friends’. If not, get a job at the UN in any capacity of their diplomatic corps, otherwise have lots of money for airfare…then again, if you have lots of money, just buy your own plane...laugh

RE: St. Louis Riots

Over a hundred US cities went up in some flames and riots just after MLK was assassinated. A good portion of Washington DC did also and the looting went on or days as some of the fires when firetrucks were blocked. I roamed all over the downtown area taking photos and trying to stay out of the way of looters with shopping carts…It was almost fun; seeing injured and dead on the streets was nothing new in that city. My college classes went on as usual; virtually everyone was oblivious to the dramas outside the campus area….so weird; a total disconnect.

RE: Robin Williams; funny?

I loved the film Dead Poets Society…I was lucky to have an English teacher exactly like in that film…Well done. His classes was always crowded with students not even registered. If only all schools had such teachers...
