People need to do some deep thinking before they start running their mouths about Americans as a whole as opposed to stating a specific government issue, get real, we are real people too.
Yes you are real people and like many countries, generally nice people as individuals, but as a country (of individuals, not govt), you are sadly lacking in many ways.

It's sad really that you (and others) take a stance such as you do instead of looking to see whether there is any merit in it. Perception and generalization of a country yes, but not promoting hatred.
There certainly wouldn't be any misrepresentation of a nation and the perception isn't confined to my opinion, but to a large majority throughout the world. I have nothing against any individual commenting on here or living in that country, but more 'their' insular attitude to the rest of the world and view of themselves and where they stand inside that world.

The Republicans will probably get the big vote (somehow) and then we'll have a woman v woman next time around and Palin will waltz it and that would be a good thing for the US.
Life's quite good really, in reality it could be far worse that's for sure. I've a lot to be grateful for, no point in sweating the small stuff.
Konigsberg - you should know that it would take far more than that to have any egotistical effect on me. I always disregard any mailbox messages from places like China, as they are very often scam based and the photo of a pretty girl is just a cover to entice those who may be lacking a brain cell or two. It's unfortunate if the girl is genuine, but how am I to know it's not a guy writing it.........after I send 'her' the money for the flight, visa or whatever story they dream up?
I feel a little hypocritical in making any comment, as in my younger days it was speed, speed, speed and I didn't wait for a straight UK road to find the thrill Trish,LOL!!
Now that I am questionably more responsible now, I have to agree with this new legislation and it's long overdue. As some point out, the penalties do seem a little easy, but at least it's a start. Sometimes there is so much talk about common sense issues (to non-politicians anyway) only to find nothing ever gets done, so I commend this.
It always seems that the innocent are the one's that get killed in these events, a needless suffering for those left behind, so the penalty should at least compare to that and reflect the severity of what they have done.
