I'm retired. Not because of financial comfort, just that I have possible options to make it work.
I do have a small business and pick and choose what works for me, energy and time wise.
At this time, I'm considering to retire in my birth country not as permanent but every six months. Summer here in the US and winter in the tropics. My family house is still good. I can improve it and make it comfortable.
What about you? Would you have a preference if you were to retire?
Note: I have so many friends on here (I personally met some of you) who're already living as retiree in some countries other than where they are national or citizen.
It'd be interesting if some would share their opinions.
My friend and I dinednin some fancy restaurant in Italy Chris, I think the waitresses would always asked us in English because by then her and I have been conversing in English.
What are you clapping at? Those litanies of dumb things has nothing to do with your question?
Just a rant from someone whom I feel sorry really. Wheeew what a negativity. Genesis go out and smell the roses. Enjoy this beautiful world that won't be blown off by dumb people. I guarantee you, it's end will be caused by a calculated manipulation of the greedy and powerful.
Just look at the earth, 4 billion years in existence, documents in record about, more or less, 5,000 years. The most strange part is, the pyramid is a product of a very intelligent mind, a possible levitation to build that complex structure and no blue print or a trace to refer how it was built?
This earth will get blown up by a calculated, most sophisticated move and not from a dumb person you mentioned.
"I dont know much about Elon musk, other than far too many peopel give him heed...and that's purely because he's so wealthy...and that's a very bad reason to listen to anyone imo...."
I really think that it's not only because he's wealthy.
He's being followed by so many people including me because of what he says and do. He is basically changing so many things in terms of running a business including how the education of an individual should be done (progressive per individual). His principle in hiring people is very unconventional. He doesn't care where people got their diploma, and even care if they have any. He gives credit as to what he has done and how he did or does it. This will completely eliminate the practice of the wealthy in sending their children to expensive schools to get a headway in the big corporate world for money.
Anyways he's very different. I have been following him for the last five years.
"Most people with money don't give a darn about others." (Sagaciousone)
This is very true. None that I know of who are rich give a damn about others. Elon Musk is different. He built his fortune from the ground up. He struggled. He rented a very small one room to build what he has now. Had to shower in the YNCA.
My point is he displays all the characters and attitudes of a very humanitarian person. He is a very humble man to me compared to Soros, Gates, Bezos and others.
Good one Jaavisst. It's free, and whatever makes you feel good, as long as it doesn't hurt others why not. At least she's reading your posts hahaha. That's a plus right?
Yes, he wants a full blown Freedom of speech. Love the guy.
@Krem, darling thanks for the mail. Too bad my travel in 18 was canceled. We'd have met for a cup of coffee. Got refunded anyways. Not like the Philippines, Wheeew that was a lot of money.
Wow G, I was going to Greexe with my ex from Australia. He was born there, migrated in Sydney when he was 15. We were talking about it. I saw the movie Mama Mia and of course it's beautiful. Well maybe one day I will go there. Who knows.
Thanks Emmy, that's in Iran. Never been there but I have been to France so many times. I love Rent, Jocelyn and Paris of course. I love also Vitre, Mon St Michelle, the Abby is quite an impressive structure.
Tes, I remember we stopped by at Paul Bunyan Park? There were free coffee for travelers Rohaan. I felt like in Queensland, Australia where (Kiama is the place) the government provides stove, electricity, comfortable and big wash rooms and rest rooms. Oregon is one beautiful place. Just too much rain. My daughter's best friend moved there from California and love it.
Bid, you made my day. I've been to England twice and might visit again this coming September. Don't laugh at me, I loved shopping at Harrods. Hahaha. I was so privileged to become a member of IBM(International Business Management), in 1979, and had to attend special classes at St John College. A most wonderful experience., I'll try to post some pictures to that effect.
Oh dear Rohaan yes indeed. My ex mother in law lives in Puyallup WA, and we drove to visit them many a times. As soon as we hit Ashland, Lassen Park it's just awesome. Most times we drove on Hwy 5, but in summer we preferred Hwy One (dubbed as one of the scenic road in the US) and stopped at those beaches you mentioned. I have pictures of my children swimming in the ocean there. Then the water spouts as high as perhaps quarter of a mile up. Beautiful Rohaan.
I was born in the Philippines. While it's one of the poorest country in the world, it offers a great deal of beauty and in general the people are very warm and friendly.
We have so many nice beaches and weather is quite permissible if you plan which month you visit and where.
Just like Hawaii, it's very hot in the months of May to September. This is the same in Nevada, Arizona, Texas and Southern California and even Minnesota (I lived in these states with the exception of Texas but I stayed in Dallas for three months due to our business).
Anyways, people speak English, and would've become the 50th state before Hawaii but didn't get ratified when the US granted our independence.
With the dollar ratio, a thousand dollars a month can make you live very, very comfortably.
Just few highlights.
Posted this also on the blog, figured some are not posting there.
I have traveled quite a lot. Have seen some beautiful as well as interesting places. Also some that makes you cringe to your stomach.
There are so many things that are worth remembering, the people, culture and general attitude in life
I am inviting anyone to share their thoughts about their place, and or places you've been and what struck you most.
This world is so huge and so diverse and I wish I can see all of those I'd wish to see before I die. I am hoping.
Note: www can of course provide any information if one wants to visit a place, that's not my point. Jaavisst mentioned about him living in Florida and visited both Nevada and California and quite disliked New York. I'm inspired by his thoughts to create a blog where we can all share our experiences.
Thanks all for reading and or participation if interested. bouquet cheering
RE: Some advice please.....
Never use it either. I heard its a very expensive maintenance if you ever start it.
