Three months down the line. All I did was get angry with him because he let me down on a date tonight, not for the first time, and he has started all the thing about me being possesive, and saying that I need to fit in with his work and life.

Just tell her straight. Tell her that you want to take it slow. Make it all crystal clear to her. It probably won't make any difference to her, but it is worth a shot!
