RE: life afer death

I've often thought along these lines too. We think everything is so vast. It might be miniscule.

RE: Life's choices...

My sympathy to you. Life is never easy. I think it gets harder in some ways as we get older seeing so many things slipping away. I've often thought it might be a good idea to eliminate the word WHY from my vocabulary.

Marriages

The local news station was interviewing an 80-year-old lady because she had just gotten married -- for the fourth time.

The interviewer asked her questions about her life, about what it felt like to be marrying again at 80, and then about her new husband's occupation.

"He's a funeral director," she answered.

"Interesting," the newsman thought.

He then asked her if she wouldn't mind telling him a little about her first three husbands and what they did for a living.

She paused for a few moments, needing time to reflect on al l those years. After a short time, a smile came to her face and she answered proudly, explaining that she'd first married a banker when she was in her early 20's, then a circus ringmaster when in her 40's, later on a preacher when in her 60's, and now in her 80's, a funeral director.

The interviewer looked at her, quite astonished, and asked why she had married four men with such diverse careers

She smiled and explained, "I married one for the money, two for the show, three to get ready, and four to go."

You didn't even see it coming, did you???

What is the RIGHT thing to do?

She does have low self esteem. She is hard of hearing and I think wearing the hearing aid just draws attention to it for her. She has remarked that she felt God gave her all the problems in the family. Maybe some people can overcome but others just can't seem to pull themselves up. She made a good start with a Masters in Microbiology but that was so long ago.

What is the RIGHT thing to do?

I know you are right gingerb but this is hard. I used to think I could handle what life throws at me but sometimes things throw you for a loop. Thank you so much for your comment.

What is the RIGHT thing to do?

I do have his power of attorney for things but my sister is living with him up in NJ. It just boils down to her sitting on her butt being a free loader and taking what she can get. I'm always thinking about when dad isn't around anymore, what's to become of her?

What is the RIGHT thing to do?

I just had to blow off some steam. This thread is an ongoing saga in my life. This person is my sister. Maybe that's what makes everything so hard. She's living with my 91 year old father. People that old are set in their ways and my sister is determined to make him follow her rules. He doesn't do anything right in her eyes. She's always snipping at him for this or that. What made my blood pressure go up was that I got dad's credit card bill and on it was a charge for $320 for steaks and seafood. My sister said she "forgot" to tell me about that. I blew up at her. Can you imagine charging that to dad's card? She acted like it was no big deal. Dad already buys all the food in the house. And there she sits.

RE: Interracial relationships

I found it perfectly acceptable in New Jersey but I seem to be having trouble down here in the south LOL

RE: Your opinion about a three way?

Sometimes one outlet needs to be a multiple. Just don't use eveything plugged in at one time. Each in it's own time.

RE: Soaring food prices. Can we blame someone?

Maybe prices go down but I assure you it is not because of a combined effort to use less.. If you have to cover your expenses for selling something and the market for it goes down what other choice would you have but to raise prices? Well, maybe go out of business.

RE: Soaring food prices. Can we blame someone?

In more ways than one. If everyone did manage to cut their demand for gas, utilities, food. Do you think the prices would go down??? Not likely. Prices would have to be raised to cover the decrease.

RE: Best Female singers of all time.

Dinah Washington had THE VOICE!!

RE: Got some bad news

Sorry to hear about your daughter. She will be in my prayers.

RE: lawful marriage of living together ?

I think this addressing common law marriage where people have been together for so long it is recognized as a valid marriage with all the perks that come with it. You can't have your cake and eat it too. If you don't care that you or your kids won't be taken care of if your husband dies, so be it.

I read in the paper where they are trying to make common law marriages valid. But if the people in these unions don't care, why should there need to be a law to protect what they don't care about?

RE: How useful is a woman that can't cook in a relationship?

So God forbid if sickness enters the picture. I guess then she would be good for nothing and worth leaving for a more "equal" relationship.

RE: Are men really afraid of independent strong women ?

Hey, let me know when you find them!!!! I'm in the market here!!!

RE: Child custody issues

This is very true. When I went to court for my divorce, it was horrible to listen to my ex lie. I thought to myself, OMG that lie sounds like something someone could believe. It boils down to which side the judge believes and he might just believe that lie. Luckily I had pictures of my bruised and swollen face to show the judge and I was granted my divorce.

RE: WHAT HAS LIFE TAUGHT YOU?

I returned and saw under the sun,
that the race is not to the swift,
nor the battle to the strong,
neither yet bread to the wise,
nor yet riches to men of understanding,
nor yet favor to men of skill,
but time and chance happeneth to them all

RE: Who was the best Rocker Singer Ever, from the list below!

He was really great. I finally sat down and listened to him (when he was gone) and realized what talent he had.

My Old Home State

I was sorry to hear that CD 101.9 went off the air in NJ. I always listened to that smooth jazz station when I lived there and when I went back for a visit.

If you want to hear the station again, IT'S DOWN HERE in SC LOL 92.3 FM Nice change from all the religious and country stations I was getting used to.
