I think we all deserve a leader like her and it's about time we made it happen.
Yeah, with not being able to buy non-essential items in the shops, money being tight for so many, and probably not being able to see extended family, Christmas is going to be low key for many.
But we can be creative and that's no bad thing.
It's the families who are grieving who are going to feel it the most.
It wasn't meant to be doom and gloom, so much as pragmatic.
The US has been traumatised in so many ways and with Trump monopolising on that for his own gain, he's managed to bring it all together to traumatise the whole country.
It takes time to recover from trauma, but hopefully in bringing it all to the surface, he might have done the country a favour. You can't heal wounds you can't see.
Hopefully yes, but it won't be because the election is over.
If Trump wins there'll be one train of events set off; if Biden wins there'll be another. Either way, there's a lot of deep rooted stuff, plus a novel virus which got out of control within a few days at the beginning of the year. Once the genie is out, and all that.
It'll take more than a few days to recover from a boil that has burst after hundreds of years in the making. It'll take more than four years, so really, Biden is the sacrificial lamb - he can't possibly have a good term of office under the circumstances. I hope he'll make a start, but I don't think it will be enough to be deemed fantastic.
If we want civility and joy to return to the forums we're somewhat reliant upon people coming up with non-taxing fun ideas (like Cranky's numbers thread) and we need to support those threads with all we've got.
