Grandson on the way...

I think you might be close to the weight Track, but you've only left her 20 minutes to get him out. laugh

Grandson on the way...

75% of inductions fail and 25% end in emergency c-sections.

The hospital have been trying to get her to agree to an induction since Thursday even though there's nothing wrong and she's not due until Saturday.

Keep pushing everyone, we want her to get there before the knives get sharpened.

Grandson on the way...

I wanted their first suggestion Alfie John, but they went off it and I've been told no amount of begging will get me anywhere... laugh

I like Brendan, though. I've just looked it up - from Brendanus, the Latinized form of the Irish name Bréanainn which was derived from a Welsh word meaning "prince".

Fitting after DF called him the little Prince. laugh

Grandson on the way...

No name as yet - and all suggestions beginning with J have been turned down because my daughter struggles to say it. laugh

Suggest names all you like! laugh

Grandson on the way...

Golly, most of you are being very optimistic. laugh

She had a shower and a hearty meal after her waters broke and she's trying to get some shut eye at the moment. She's nowhere near established labour yet.

Thanks for all your best wishes folks, much appreciated. If we could collectively send some vibes for her to have a wee snooze and then get going good a proper, even better! When I saw her at 8am this she looked exhausted already, bless her.

Grandson on the way...

Blimey Gal, I hope Rachie and Molly are closer in weight - my daughter is 4'11 1/2" and only about 100lb herself! laugh

Grandson on the way...

My daughter has been in slow labour since last night and things are coming along nicely.

Her waters broke good and proper at 6pm along with 3 strong contractions.

It's now 8pm and time to place your bets on time of arrival and weight.

grin

RE: Self-absorption

Lemon scented dunny paper...?

Plainly, you Aussies have delusions of grandeur way, way way above your station, too. laugh

RE: What is your Networth? Do you know how to calculate it?

A fortnight is two sennights.

RE: Self-absorption

I don't even know what sorbent is, Merc.

I was attempting to make a bad sorbet joke.

I think CC is going to accuse both of us of self-absorbtion, now. uh oh giggle

RE: Self-absorption

I like the lemon flavoured one best, Merc.

RE: Self-absorption

When my brain goes spongy, I'll consider it as an option.

RE: What is your Networth? Do you know how to calculate it?

I got a free hair net from work once.

I threw it away without asking how much they paid for it.

RE: If you were locked in

I would spend my time despairing.

RE: Do you believe in Tipping ?

Give me a bucket of slime and a few candidates and I'll consider the question of tipping. giggle

RE: Sad Day

And I don't think I'll ever recover from losing my dogs, John. There'll always be a hole that they used to occupy.

Sometimes pets can be more of a life anchor for some people.

Not everyone has children, not everyone has a nice family, not everyone has a nice life.

I'm sorry for your your loss John, but I'm also sorry for my own.

I adored my dogs so much, I thought they smelled nice even even they were wet. laugh

Everyone is entitled to grieve, whatever their loss. Sometimes grieving isn't about death, but some other loss. Trying to tell people how you grieve is unhealthy.

There is no pecking order to grief. It's a process we all go through in our own ways.

RE: Sad Day

Rachie, when I lost my first dog I was in bits.

A friend of mine who is a vet, pointed out that because our pet's live for a decade, or two, their loss is a measure of an era for us.

Maybe our childhood, or our time as a parent. Maybe our youth, or our retirement.

We grieve for our furry friends, but we also grieve for a time which has passed.

I miss all my dogs horribly, but I also miss those times.

Not that I'm not thrilled to be a grandma, but it would be nice to have everyone here at once. smile

RE: Sad Day

I've not lost a child, or a parent yet.

I've lost some family members and some good friends.

Some of those family members and good friends have been dogs.

Life, love, loss. All of it requires some grieving in order to be emotionally healthy.

The space to grieve is not much to ask, John.

RE: Oooh.......

M4, I keep looking at your profile and your face is familiar, but I'm not making the connection yet. Somewhere in my memory...it'll all come flooding out at some point. laugh

RE: Oooh.......

Harbal, my daughter tells me the vegan white chocolate buttons are to die for, but I've not much of a sweet tooth myself. I was referring to other kinds of buttons.

RE: Is it wrong........

Nah, I'm sure she once posted that she waxes.

She must have forgotten to blow the candle out. dunno

RE: Oooh.......

I don't understand how anyone can dislike buttons. dunno

RE: FAREWELL TO ENGLAND — Jolly 'OL England

You cited The Sun for information about Sharia law in the UK...?

You deserve showering with rotten vegetables for that, Gal. laugh

The Sun aims for a maximum reading age of 13 years old, not exceeding a vocabulary of 300 words. It's like consulting Enid Blighton about biochemistry, only with a bit more pizazz. laugh

I have an urge to write you an essay about the UK, but I don't have time right now. Suffice it to say, the propaganda you're falling for is working a treat - it means you're distracted from the issues our governments don't want us to look at.

We are being primed to link violence with Islam, but we should be looking at the link between violence and violence.

RE: FAREWELL TO ENGLAND — Jolly 'OL England

Can you tell me about the Sharia law in England please, Gal?

Can you quantify the increase in violence as compared with the IRA bombings in the 70's, for example?

RE: Sad Day

A sad day indeed, Track. hug

RE: FAREWELL TO ENGLAND — Jolly 'OL England

I have already talked about the thread topic, Gal.

You accused me of labelling you and then I wanted to talk about that. You are avoiding answering, but of course you can't. I didn't label you - that idea, interestingly, came from yourself.

Prejudice didn't even come into my mind when I posted. Incongruance did, however.

No, I don't agree with your statements about change in the UK. The reality is that with each new influx of immigrants since the 1950's, the UK stays remarkably the same in terms of it's propaganda and hostility. It's just the target which changes.

RE: FAREWELL TO ENGLAND — Jolly 'OL England

No, I don't think it's like describing a compound sentence.

I asked if you can point out where I labelled you as, where I said you are, prejudice(d).

RE: The Shawshank Redemption

When I saw the thread title, I thought you would be the author because you've brought up the subject of this film before.

I wondered why it holds your fascination so.

Now I know. If I get to see the film again, I'll try and view it from this perspective.

Tell me Pedro, did you have an escape plan in order to free your mind?

RE: New change to Forum page

I suspect your friend is having the same problem with the mobi site blogs access that I am, Merc.

The replies are cut in half, so you can only read half of each line of writing. No amount of clicking on the replies, turning my phone sideways, or any other jiggery pokery results in seeing the replies in their entirety.

RE: Favouritism

Yeah, I get hot flushes after a bit of DIY, too.
