RE: It's National Compliment Day!

Whoa! My posts been referred to as subtle and succinct within a couple of days. Two things I never thought would be associated with me. laugh

Thanks for the feedback, Track. I really value your compliment about creating the circumstances for fresh thought. I can't think of anything I'd be more chuffed with. grin

RE: What are your relationship goals?

"...so that rules out Greek women and Jac..."

You cheeky bahstard! rolling on the floor laughing

I got another laugh out of this thread - I do actually get up earlier than anyone else so I can have a cup of tea in silence (apart from my own laughter, that is). laugh

RE: Zoster

Thankyou, for recommending I do more research, but I wasn't asking about the causes of zosta, you were. laugh

I was telling you about my family experience.

If you know something different about psychological causes, perhaps you can explain how my dad and sister came to have shingles immediately after being exposed to chicken pox some 15 years apart.

If you can't, no worries. wave

RE: Zoster

We don't vaccinate here I am the UK, Life.

If a child has chicken pox, traditionally all the other kids are taken around to play to pick it up while they are young.

I had a mild infection at the late age of 12 and it was harsh in terms of the 'flu like symptoms. Younger children seem to have less fever and pain associated with chicken pox.

It's not considered life threatening, just bloody miserable. Although loss of sight from shingles blisters is an issue.

RE: Zoster

My sister had chicken pox as a baby (under the age of one) and shortly thereafter my dad had shingles over half of his face. The blisters on his eyeball lead to virtual blindness in that eye.

I had chicken pox at the age of 12 and shortly afterwards my sister had shingles, the clutches of blisters encircling half of her waist.

My understanding was that shingles could be caught from chicken pox, but only if you had already had chicken pox at least 7 years previously.

My sister was the youngest recorded infection of shingles known in our area.

It attacks the nervous system, indicated by the position of the blisters on one half of the body.

Infection is increased by bursting the blisters - it's jolly hard not to scratch the itchy blighters in your sleep. laugh

It's accompanied by 'flu like symptoms and pain relating to the blistered area. Common areas of blistering are half the face, encircling half the waist or half the groin/thigh area.

I've not been exposed to chicken pox again, despite being a grandmother. I've not had shingles.

The chicken pox and shingles virus is herpes zosta, a variant of the herpes virus.

My understanding comes from nearly 40 years ago, so knowledge may have moved on since then.

RE: It's National Compliment Day!

Is there a difference? laugh

RE: Have you ever been set up on a blind date, by a friend before?

Err...I have partial hearing.

I guess it's not funny if you have to explain the joke, eh? laugh

RE: Zoster

I thought it was A variegated plant favoured by hungry snails. I dunno

RE: Have you ever been set up on a blind date, by a friend before?

No, but I'm still hoping for a deaf date.

RE: It's National Compliment Day!

Concerned about redundancy, John? laugh

RE: It's National Compliment Day!

PPS. You used to turn up on my WVM list every five minutes a while back. I know exactly how things work when someone's posting from their phone. laugh

RE: Is there another U ?

Is there another U?

Yes. There's the lower case one.

RE: It's National Compliment Day!

Flamin' Nora, can you not follow the simplistic of bleedin' instructions, woman?

And you've been so European with your piss-taking, embarrassment, compliment deflecting and self-deprecating humour up until now.

Really, I despair with you, KB. roll eyes

RE: It's National Compliment Day!

Yes John, if we were all fully self-actualised compliments would be somewhat pointless.

But as we're not, a little affirmation can be a right, proper, fluffy, gushy, fun thing to do. tongue

Where's the harm in it? (Other than we're all going to get US citizenship and people are in danger of using the teddy emote.)

(KB - resist.)

RE: It's National Compliment Day!

Google earth! rolling on the floor laughing

Touche on the tush thing. tip hat

Track. Now there's an insightful member with balls.

RE: It's National Compliment Day!

Would this be a bad time to compliment Deedee on her shapely cheeks?

RE: It's National Compliment Day!

To KB, for being responsible for, or simply being the whole of America, according to the gospel of Chesneychrist.

That's really quite an achievement. yay

"No, Herr Allgemeine Schutzstaffel. I don't have any Jews hiding in my cellar."

RE: Would it be great...............??????

A six penny bit (6d) is half a shilling which is 5 pence, making a six pence worth 2 1/2 pence.

I would have thought that was obvious, Gal. roll eyes

RE: mental health

Born with mental illness?

Like babies slither out complaining of hearing voices? laugh

RE: How to impress a man!!

We can run, but we can't hide?

Well, that rules out ambush and leaves chasing them to exhaustion, eh?

I once asked my rather shy daughter how she handled starting new colleges and classes. She told me, I pick on some people and follow them around until they like me. giggle

I guess you can get away with that when your cute and likeable. laugh

Sewing buttons on, altering garments without using Wonder Web before bringing the sticky mess to me to sort out whilst expecting the standard charges and the art of never hacking a garment with a pair of scissors followed by the declaration that they've made it easier for me.

RE: Do not feel uncomfortable to declare ur IQ ?

Hello, Innocentia. wave

I took my daughter out of school a year early and got her into college.

Unfortunately, she was then too young to qualify for funding for dyslexia and Irlen's Syndrome tests.

The learning support teacher very kindly did some in-house screening and then rang me to explain what my daughter's sees.

I said, "Doesn't everyone see like that?" confused

She said, "No, Jac." roll eyes

I said (very intelligently), "Oh..."

It turns out it's hereditary. laugh

RE: Do not feel uncomfortable to declare ur IQ ?
