RE: Who has the final say what children learn from Kindergarten through High School?

Keep the fingers off any "Solution" that sells the idea that one size shoe fits all!

There are no foolproof solutions to resolving human/social problems, when people are engaged in processes that address their issues you get better results because they usually are vested in a good or better outcome. "There is no such thing as one size fits all" There are too few people making decisions for many.

Collective through processing does and can work when people are willing to work for the good of those effected. I worked in Social/Public/ Services for a number of years. We had a process called M-Team, which a term used in Soc. Services, its when all who are involved with a child/family get together and devised a plan to aid the child/family through service provisions. Nothing is fool proof because we are dealing with individual through, behaviors, life styles, educational levels etc., certainly kids deserve a chance. I have seen success when wrap-around services are in place to better serve individuals or families. Education is costly but ignorance coast more and in many cases its generational, so as a society do we made the investment of the front end or the back end?

RE: Why is it so easy to find fault in others?

It's easier to hold others at a higher standard than we hold ourselves. We often tend to get self-absorbed in our own shortcomings and willing to point them out in others.confused

RE: Are We Privileged?

I think the responders missed the point.........AS I understand the post, I thing the swimmer and the shopper was expressing gratitude in your ability to assist them in doing something they themselves needed help with. You are privileged in having the ability to help them to perform a task they could not or had trouble with. WHY DO PEOPLE FEEL THE NEED TO TIE EVERYTHING TO RACE/CULTURE? SURELY IT DOESN'T APPLY IN THIS SITUATION.............JUST TWO PEOPLE NEEDING HELP AND WAS GRATFUL SOME ONE STEPPED UP.peace
