RE: Trust or no ...

A tiger never changes it's spots. If it bites you once it will bite you again. That's the nature of the tiger. Trying to be friends with the tiger shows how desperate one is to prove that he/she can change the tiger, a/k/a people. Humans and animals have a DNA that doesn't change no matter how much you smooth over the prickly hairs on the outside.uh oh

Fool me once shame on you
Fool me twice shame on me

RE: Let's say you died suddenly and wasn't sure where you 'landed'. What signs would you look for...?

I read the title of this thread very carefully and I think Didi is referring to heaven or hell. So I think she is asking if you wondered if you landed in heaven what would the signs be that you are there and the same goes if you landed in hell.

If I saw my father when I opened my eyes I'm pretty sure I would have landed in hell.

RE: Hot Rods and Motorcycles

I watched the movie Ford v. Ferrari twice in the same day. I like speed and this movie had it's way with me.laugh

When I was young I remember Lee Iacocca being the CEO (I think) of Chrysler and when the company was in financial trouble he took only $1 as his annual income. That was impressive.

RE: is bitter truth better than sweet lies?

My guess is the patient knows how his family feels about him. It's nothing new to him. Yet he wants one last chance to make up for the wrongs he has done to them. Even though his family doesn't like him he still wants to be comforted by people that are family.

I would comfort the patient and tell him that they might be on their way to see him. That would give him hope to hang onto before he dies.

I wouldn't lie. Telling him that they will come would be a lie I couldn't live with.

RE: is bitter truth better than sweet lies?

When you tell someone the truth it shows that you respect them even if the truth could be detrimental to the relationship.

To lie is a betrayal.

RE: Serial killers...

Charlize Theron won an Academy Award for Best Actor in this movie.

RE: JOHNNY DEPP TRIAL

I think he's not looking at her for two reasons. One is that when she professes over and over how much she loved him he might tear up. The other is the opposite reason.....he might smile at her with affectionate eyes and she will smile back.

When she talked about him holding the dog out of the car window he did tear up enough to use a tissue.

If he was drinking and drugging at the same time I believe her when she says how she was treated.

I'm also a firm believer that when you are accused of something there is always a basic fact for the accusation.

It's a dog and pony show. This is her best audition for the next movie.

RE: JOHNNY DEPP TRIAL

It certainly is showtime with Amber on the witness stand.

Undoubtedly her attorney told her to dress appropriately for court. So what does she do. She wears a three piece dark navy suit with a buttoned up stripped shirt. That definitely is court attire for a man. If she wanted to appear a professional woman in the business world she should have worn light colors.

She has bobby pins in her hair on the side of her head that is facing the jury probably to make her look like an innocent girl, a fragile woman.

Her testimony so far probably has some truths in it but she stumbles when she has to think how to make her testimony profound.

Court is back in session uh oh

RE: Where has the master bloviator gone?

He was in a thread an hour ago. I'll get the name of it for you.

RE: Where has the master bloviator gone?

Are you talking about Galrad?

RE: ~Love is Incapable of Asking For Anything~

He said he loved me "in his own way". It was enough.

RE: What do old people think about ?

I think about how glad I am I had all that years ago. laugh

I also think about my son in law fighting cancer and hope that he outlives me.

I think about Ukraine and hope that someday Ukrainians will be able to pick up their lives and live in peace so that they can take the dog for a walk in the street or a park.

Right now I'm thinking..........I wish somebody would cook that pork chop that's sitting on the counter help

RE: ~Love is Incapable of Asking For Anything~

GW, I appreciate your reply however I do not agree that love is a giving and taking relationship. I will be 80 years old in 19 days and I do know what love is when I give it to someone. I recognize how it makes me feel. I also know how to recognize real love if someone wants to give it to me.

I loved someone who did not love me the way I loved him. Still, I was happy to be in his life and so I continued to love him. He didn't give me romantic love to "take" but he gave me time and friendship and that was enough for me.

RE: ~Love is Incapable of Asking For Anything~

Love is putting someone above yourself. Not putting them on a pedestal but instead in your thoughts and the gut feeling in your stomach that says you want to be with them to share their life. They may not do the same for you but when you love someone you want all their endeavors to be good for them. At the same time you hope that they will return that feeling.

Love isn't about you. It is about someone else that makes your heart smile.

RE: Have you ever dated outside of your race? If so, what differences did you encounter (if any)?

Up to the age of 20 I lived in a black neighborhood with my parents. We were the only white family in that neighborhood. We got along well with the neighbors and I walked to school with a black girl. One day I was sitting on the steps talking to a neighbor across the street. I guess I was around 10 or 12 years old. The man was probably 10 years older. We just talked and laughed. We were in perfect view of everybody. When I walked across the street to go home as I got inside my house my father took a belt to me and beat me so badly that I was hanging onto my dresser. He was furious that I was sitting with a black man......a man from the neighborhood....a man that he waved too and chatted with sometimes.

As I grew up to adulthood it never entered my mind to date a black man.
