On top of this headlight nightmare my tail light is broken so I have to buy a tail light unit for $133 and the service to put the unit into my car is another $145. I tried to find a junk yard but came out empty on that
Someone found tail light assemblies on Ebay but I think that could be risky cause it needs to be the exact assembly for my car.
So you can see why I don't want to spend $100 to clean my headlights.
My mechanic put in a new line for my transmission a couple weeks ago that cost me $460 and I have been going to him for other things that have all worked out well so I'm pretty sure he would do a good job with this. I don't want to pay $100 just to get through the grime on headlights which seems crazy to me. From what I could see in the video some of the kits required a drill with sanding pads so it must be difficult to get through the hardened dirt.
No helpful neighbors. I just checked on YouTube and found a guy who tested six different cleaners. The one that seemed to be the easiest to use is Rainex so I'm going to try to find that one. According to what he said it won't last long and that's okay. I just need it to satisfy the inspector.
My car failed inspection yesterday because my headlights are "hazy and dim"
They have been like that for a long time and no one has complained about it but it seems this guy just wanted to be picky
I need my car to pass inspection so that I can renew my registration. I have 30 days to clean up the lights
I called my regular mechanic and he charges $100 to clean them
I also called Auto Zone. They have kits in the range of $6.49....$12.49....$30.00
I also checked on Google that you can do it yourself with a baking soda paste or toothpaste but I also read that it takes a lot of arm strength to do it which will be difficult for me
So, I'm in a fix and hope someone can please suggest I should go about getting the headlights cleaned up
North Carolina is in the southern hemisphere of the United States and we never get snow or sleet where I live. That's going to change tomorrow. Sleet and icy roads are expected. I just looked out the window and I see that the maintenance crew has put salt down on the sidewalks.
Guess I better get out there to buy bread, milk and eggs. That's the standard shopping list when winter storms hit the area. However, I did my shopping yesterday but I didn't buy toilet paper
I don't have a role here now but if there is a thread about a newsworthy story and I know something about it that is a fact I will post my opinion but only if I'm sure what I'm talking about.
I used to write human interest threads when we had members who were open to writing an opinion to encourage conversation. In today's world we have members who just want to be negative in everything they say towards each other. Waste of time to even sign on sometimes.
I do think we need more women. We used to have a great bunch of ladies from Ireland that were fun but they disappeared. Years ago we had Jono, Felixis, Trisher, Singlelisouis, Nulii, HealthyLiving but they also left except once in awhile Jono will show up. And not one of them were an instigator looking for arguments. CS was a very different site when those women were here.
Looking For A Suggestion
