Some of us have discussed police shootings in the U.S. There is one more shooting that I'm not sure how I want to go with it. I'm hoping the CS family will have opinions.
A police officer stopped Duante Wright for having expired car registration tags but his mother said he was stopped for having an air freshener hanging from his rearview mirror. In Minnesota it is against the law to have anything hanging from the rearview mirror. When they stopped Wright police did a background check and found he had an outstanding warrant against him. He was originally stopped for expired registration tags and secondly for having the air freshener hanging from the rearview mirror.
The officer walked up to Wright's car and he got out but then he fought his way back into the car. Two officers were struggling to get him out of the car. One of the officer's yelled Taser Taser Taser but instead of the Taser she pulled her gun and shot him which resulted in his death.
The officer who shot him has been on the force for 26 years. The prosecutor argued that in all that time she should have known that she was pulling her taser gun and not the real gun. Each gun was on different sides of her body. The taser is yellow.
So, did this 20 year old die because he had an air freshener tree hanging from his rearview mirror or did he die because he had an outstanding warrant or did he die for having expired registration tags?
The officer has been charged with second degree manslaughter. Should she get a pass? Her mistake resulted someone losing his life. Should she be forced to retire without her pension?
I wish I could do CPR but I know that the person needs to be on a hard surface for the compressions to work. I have two knee replacements which means I have plastic and steel in my knees. It is very painful if I try to kneel on them. Even if I tried to do it bending over from a standing position it wouldn't work and would be painful for my back.
Do you know how to do CPR on babies and small children? From what I have heard it is done with two fingers and not the whole hand.
Living alone is not necessarily a lonely life. I live alone. I enjoy my independence in not having to adhere to someone else's rules. I am not lonely.
A lonely life is when family and friends have abandoned you. You don't necessarily live in a cardboard box but you are destitute from the normal needs of life......food, medical care, interaction with people.
Galrad isn't stupid. He is being selective in what he chooses to believe. That's why I posted all the fail-safes that have to happen before it can be launched.
I think you are intelligent enough to know that our president alone could not launch a nuclear weapon. Take a minute to read this and you'll see how many safes need to happen before the weapon is launched.
The Gold Codes are the launch codes for nuclear weapons provided to the president of the United States in his role as commander-in-chief of the armed forces. In conjunction with the nuclear football, the Gold Codes allow the president to authorize a nuclear attack. Gold Codes, as well as a separate nuclear football, are also assigned to the vice president in case the president is incapacitated or otherwise unable to discharge the duties of office pursuant to the Twenty-fifth Amendment to the United States Constitution. Gold Codes are arranged in a column and printed on a plastic card nicknamed "the biscuit."
The card's size is similar to that of a credit card, and the president is supposed to carry it on his person. Before it can be read, an opaque plastic covering must be snapped in two and removed.
Gold Codes are generated daily and provided by the National Security Agency (NSA) to the White House, The Pentagon, United States Strategic Command and TACAMO. For an extra level of security, the list of codes on the card includes codes that have no meaning, and therefore the president must memorize where on the list the correct code is located. The concept behind the codes is that they permit the president to positively identify himself as the commander-in-chief and thereby authenticate a launch order to the National Military Command Center (NMCC).
Should the president decide to order the launch of nuclear weapons, the president would be taken aside by the carrier of the nuclear football and the briefcase would be opened. The president would then decide which attack options (specific orders for attacks on specific targets) to use. The attack options are preset war plans developed under OPLAN 8010, and include major attack options (MAOs), selected attack options (SAOs) and limited attack options (LAOs). The chosen attack option and the Gold Codes would then be transmitted to the NMCC via a special secure channel.
Stephen Schwartz, an independent nuclear policy consultant, explained in 2018: "Once [the president's] identity is verified, he gives the order and it is transmitted down the chain of command. The chain of command goes from the president through the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and then, if we’re using long-range weapons, down through the Strategic Command, then the order is relayed to our forces in the field. It always happens extremely quickly."
As commander-in-chief, the president is the only individual with the authority to order the use of nuclear weapons. The president and another high-ranking official, such as the vice president or secretary of defense, must jointly authenticate the order to use nuclear weapons. Nuclear-defense policy expert Franklin Miller states that the president has almost single authority to initiate a nuclear attack; though the secretary of defense is required to verify the order, he or she cannot legally veto it. However, Section 4 of the Twenty-fifth Amendment of the Constitution allows for the vice president, together with a majority of cabinet heads or Congress, to declare the president disabled or unfit to execute the duties of the office.
Alrighty I'm working my way into what you say it means. Have you seen the movie A Few Good Men? In that movie two marines were told to perform a Code Red on another marine who was going to testify to something that would have been a problem for the Colonel. The Colonel ordered a Code Red which was meant to be a hazing, a way to shut up the marine, but it turned into murder. IF the marines didn't do the Code Red are you saying that this would have been an example of intelligent disobedience?
Okay but I think you should watch the movie Manchurian Candidate.
Do you think intelligent disobedience was used on Flight 93 when Todd Beamer said "Let's Roll" encouraging other passengers to storm the cockpit forcing the plane into the ground?
I didn't watch the video because your first sentence pretty much described to me what Intelligent Disobedience is............Manchurian Candidate. That was the first thing the came to my mind.

Any opinions on this?
